To address the grand challenges of our time at the intersections of religion, ethics, and culture, the McFarland Center works alongside Holy Cross faculty to sponsor dozens of on-campus programs annually.
Current Academic Year Events
A full schedule of events for each semester is typically posted 3-4 weeks before classes begin.
Lecture Series
In addition to hosting one-off events that address current issues and meet the timely needs of faculty and students, the McFarland Center plans lectures that fulfill ongoing funded programs. Our current lecture series include:
- Deitchman Family Lectures on Religion and Modernity
- Kraft-Hiatt Program for Jewish-Christian Understanding
- Thomas More Lectures on the Humanities
Virtual Class Visits
Virtual Classroom Visits give students first-hand access to scholars, authors, performers, and community leaders whose work they are studying. Initiated during a year of remote learning, this program continues to make possible unparalleled opportunities for student engagement with scholars in the classroom.
Conferences
The McFarland Center collaborates with faculty and departments to organize conferences that delve deeper into topics integral to its mission.
