Pilgrimage Itinerary

May 24-June 3, 2020

Sunday, May 24
Depart Boston for Bilbao.

Monday, May 25
Arrival Bilbao. Visit Casco Viejo or old quarter for a walking tour and snack/light lunch at a café. See the house where Father Pedro Arrupe—one of the recent Superior Generals of the Society of Jesus—was born.  Continue to Arantzazu to visit the shrine. Dinner and overnight in Arantzazu.

Tuesday, May 26
Travel to Loyola. Visit the Castle with Mass at the Conversion Chapel. Lunch at restaurant in Azpeitia, near the shrine. Continue with visit to the Church of St. Sebastian, the historic hospital and Our Lady of Olatz.  Dinner/overnight in Azpeitia.

Wednesday, May 27
Travel to Xavier. Visit the Castle and enjoy free time. Dinner/overnight in Xavier.

Thursday, May 28
Travel to Montserrat. Stop  en route at Manresa to visit the Cave of St. Ignatius with Mass. Dinner/overnight at Montserrat.

Friday, May 29
Full-day at leisure in Montserrat. Dinner/overnight at Montserrat.

Saturday, May 30
Travel to Barcelona. Visit the Gothic Quarter, including Santa Maria del Mar. Visit Sagrada Familia. Dinner/overnight in Barcelona.

Sunday, May 31
Transfer to the Barcelona airport for flight to Rome. On arrival, visit the Catacombs of Domitilla (to see the new frescos that have been restored) and include Sunday liturgy. Continue to St. Paul Outside the Walls. Lunch at nearby Cecilia Metella restaurant. Free time in Rome this afternoon and evening.

Monday, June 1
Morning visit to Ignatian sites including the Gesu', San Ignazio, brief visit to Gonzaga Rooms, and St. Mary Major. Late afternoon and evening free. Overnight in Rome.

Tuesday, June 2
Morning visit to San Andrea al Quirinale. Continue to the Rooms of St. Ignatius for farewell liturgy. Lunch on own in the area around St. Peter's. Afternoon guided visit to the Vatican Museums. Farewell dinner this evening.  Overnight in Rome.

Wednesday, June 3
Transfer to airport for return to Boston.
