How does an Asian-American, Protestant woman find happiness at a college founded by Jesuit priests to educate Irish-Catholic boys?
When you follow your heart, you never know where the journey will take you!
I came to Holy Cross because I wanted to work with undergraduates in a community dedicated to educating students who would use their minds, their hearts, and their hands to improve the world in which we all live. Luckily, I found what I was looking for!
For over 25 years I have followed my heart by serving in three roles at Holy Cross: first in the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies where I advised students, second by creating Academic Services & Learning Resources (ASLR), and now as assistant dean for international students. What has remained constant is that one of the most satisfying parts of my life is to listen to the dreams of students and then to connect them with resources and people who can help them develop their talents and achieve their goals.
Our international students come to Holy Cross with passports from around the globe and contribute to all areas of our community including the classroom, chapel, concert hall, athletic facility, lab, student organizations, and theatre. If you are reading this, perhaps you are deciding whether to apply to Holy Cross. Or perhaps you are already a student here and are looking for resources to inform the next decision in your academic career. Maybe you are a recent graduate who is checking in while working under the Optional Practical Training program.
Wherever you find yourself on your journey, it is my hope that you will feel at home at Holy Cross. Homesickness may come first, but joy will come as you open yourself to the richness of the curriculum, activities, and the community that is Holy Cross.
Please accept this invitation to visit me in Fenwick 204. Together, let's find out where your heart and dreams are taking you!
