For nearly a decade, the Mission Seminar has offered administrators from across the campus an opportunity to come to a deeper understanding and appreciation of Holy Cross’ mission as a liberal arts college firmly rooted in its Catholic and Jesuit identities. Participants are generally nominated by members of the College's senior leadership.
The seminar meets over lunch seven times throughout the academic year. Each time it convenes in a different location to emphasize the many places that the College's mission "lives." The Seminar concludes with an afternoon and evening experience at the Joyce Contemplative Center.
Each meeting will be structured around presentations, shared conversation, and time for questions. Materials and resources for reading and reflection will be provided. The themes treated include: A fresh look at the Holy Cross Mission Statement; HC Today and Tomorrow; The Society of Jesus and Jesuit Education; Liberal Arts education in the Jesuit, Catholic traditions; Holistic student formation; Jesuit Education and Justice; and Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit education.
