¡Buenas!

My name is María, I am 23 years old, and I am delighted to be part of the Spanish FLAs for the 2023-2024 academic year. I was born and raised in Rute, a quaint town in Córdoba (Spain) famous for its lip-smacking Christmas sweets as well as its Carnival parades. Last year I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Studies from the University of Granada, and now I’m taking a Master’s Degree in English Literature and Linguistics at the same university.

What I love most about teaching is sharing my passion for languages and cultures with my students. After all, learning a language is more than just memorizing vocabulary and mastering grammar. It is also discovering new experiences that may be incredibly gratifying. After having traveled to Ireland and Greece for language exchange programs, I realized how necessary it is to be open-minded in order to debunk cultural misconceptions and make long-lasting friendships.

As for my personal interests, I am very keen on reading and listening to music since they help me take my mind off university work. I am also drawn to street photography and pixel art, but if I had to pick my favorite hobby, it would be doing jigsaw puzzles.

I really look forward to meeting all of you and sharing memorable moments in and outside the classroom.

See you soon!

María
