Salaam alaikum!

My name is Amal, and I am thrilled to be part of the Arabic FLA team of
Holy Cross this academic year 2023-2024. I was born and raised in
Assiut, Egypt; it is a governorate in south Egypt and also known as the
capital of Upper Egypt. I got my bachelor degree in English Language
and literature from Assiut University, and now I am doing my master's in
linguistics at Zagazig University. Since I have been working as a TA at
Zagazig University for Four years now, I can say that I was lucky enough
to get to know all of my amazing students or I can say friends, and what
makes me happy the most is that, I've had the chance to make difference
in their personal and academic lives and I wish I can do the same with
you.
I have been always interested in English language and also have been
fascinated by its literary heritage which inspires me throughout my
journey to learn English. So I can say that, the good thing about learning
another language is it helps to break the boundaries amongst different
people, cultures and countries. As you know language is not in isolation
from social reality so it will help you to -effectively- connect with people
of different backgrounds around the world.
I’m a cheerful person and a good listener too. While I am not busy
studying for my master's, I love walking outdoors, reading novels (I have
to say that, I'm a big fan of the genius Dan Brown), learning new stuff
and meeting with new people, so I’ll be so glad sharing my experience
with you and I hope that I can be your open window to the wondrous
Arabic language and its rich culture. I also love making new friends,
listening to music, watching movies and spending time with my sisters,
friends and family. I will be very happy if you join me sometimes!
I'm sure that we will get along with each other in this pleasant educational
journey of Arabic language and culture, and I am looking forward to
meeting all of you, so get ready to catch a glimpse of the terrific Egyptian
and Arabic culture of my own.
Maʿa s-salaama!
Amal
