Wen-Hsuan Wu

Chinese FLA

Biography

Hello everyone!

My name is Wen-Hsuan Wu and my English name is Chloe. I will be your new Chinese FLA for this year. I will be 30 years old in December this year. I’m studying for MA in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at Chung Yuan Christian University.

I live in Hsinchu, Taiwan where it is famous for strong wind. The strong wind is used to stretch rice noodles. Also, there’re a lot of people who want to work as an engineer in the Science Park. I think it’s a very tough job.

I traveled in Japan in 2017. When I was a junior in college, I attended a program (Work and Travel USA) which was for college students to experience life in America. I worked as a ticket seller in an amusement park. I met a lot of friends from different countries. We shared our backgrounds and cultures. After that, I started to be interested in languages and cultures. I want to know more about language and culture from different countries.

I also want to meet new people from all over the world. It’s not only about learning languages but also new cultures. It’s very interesting to see what the differences are between their culture and mine.

Currently, I’m an English teacher for children ages 8 - 12 and teenagers. I also teach Chinese for teenagers and adults. I like interacting with young kids to teach them new things and see their smiling faces. Children’s smiles make my day happier, even though they are sometimes naughty in class.

Besides language and culture, I also love exercising, outdoor activities, traveling, listening to music, and watching movies.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity and I’m very much looking forward to meeting all of you soon! 很高興認識你!
