Biography
Dear all, My name is Maria del Mar, but everybody calls me Mar and I will be your Spanish FLA. I am from Mallorca, an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, a small paradise with sandy beaches and crystalline water. Apart from that, Mallorca is an incredibly rich region in terms of gastronomy and traditions, and I can't wait to share all of them with you!
I am a native speaker of two languages, Spanish and Catalan. I have always loved learning new languages and that is why I decided to study a degree in English Studies. I am currently working as an English teacher for both children and adult learners and my job consists mainly in enhancing my students' oral skills and preparing them for official language exams. I have been teaching English since I was only 17 years old, and now I am so much excited to be able to teach my own language to my future students at the College of the Holy Cross.
Studying a foreign language gave me the possibility of living abroad for a few months. I lived in Wales and it was, without any doubt, one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. I met people from all around the world and I could travel a lot. Traveling, is one of my biggest passions because I believe that every single place you visit teaches you something new and it makes you grow as a person. The picture I attached at the beginning of the page was taken two weeks ago when I visited Vienna, the capital city of Austria.
In addition to traveling, I love spending time at the beach doing all kinds of activities. I also enjoy listening to music and cooking. I hope I will have the opportunity to cook with you some of the delicious mallorcan specialties!
