Diane Diamond

Diane Diamond received her B.S. from Cornell University, her M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her Ph.D. in Sociology in 2004 from Stony Brook University. Her doctoral dissertation on the admission of women at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Virginia Military Institute examined differing institutional approaches to women’s admission, experiences of the first women cadets, and perceptions of the men cadets to women’s admission. She has published chapters in Gender in Policy and Practice: Perspectives on Single Sex and Coeducational Schooling (Routledge Falmer, 2002) and Gender and Higher Education (John Hopkins University Press, 2007).Her research interests include the sociology of gender, gender and family life, and child development. She has taught courses in The Sociological Perspective, The Sociology of Gender, and American Society.
