Visiting Faculty Position in Geosciences

Visiting Faculty Position 2020-2021

General Information

The Department of Biology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a visiting full-time faculty appointment in the area of Geoscience for the 2020–2021 academic year to begin in August, 2020. Courses will include Introduction to Geology with lab, a geoscience course for non-science majors, a 200-level geoscience course (possibly with lab) in the candidate’s area of expertise, and potentially a seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise. In addition to contributing to the geosciences minor, upper-level courses must contribute to our Environmental Studies curriculum and should appeal to biology majors interested in environmental science. Courses fitting these requirements include but are not limited to geomorphology, hydrology, oceanography, and paleoclimatology.

Visiting full-time faculty teach 3 courses each semester (a laboratory section counts as one course in the Biology Department) and are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies. All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and include full benefits.

Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching informed by current practice and scholarship in the field. A Ph.D. in geology or closely related discipline is preferred but ABD candidates in such fields will be considered.
