VP for Communications and Marketing

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

It gives me great pleasure to name Jeremy Thompson, currently Assistant Dean for Communications, Marketing & Graduate Admissions at Boston University School of Law, as Vice President for Communications and Marketing at Holy Cross, effective December 1st.

As the search process progressed, it became clear Jeremy would bring his intelligence, thoughtfulness and passion to the College and be fully committed to its success. He has a consistent and impressive track record of building teams and operations that are high performing and well respected; of engaging in relationships with stakeholders and partners across an institution to bring more voices to the table; of making data-driven and well-informed operational and strategic decisions; and of enthusiastically committing to a digital-first approach. His experience with enrollment was also noted as an asset, along with his work to build visibility and enhance an institution’s external reputation.

With more than 20 years of experience leading communications and marketing in higher education and the arts, Jeremy has dedicated his career to serving mission-driven institutions. As someone who calls Worcester County home, he is ready to champion both Holy Cross and this wonderfully diverse city on the rise. You can read more about Jeremy’s background and experience and understand why he is an incredible fit for the College particularly at this time in our history.

While we celebrate Jeremy’s arrival, I also want to acknowledge the tremendous support and leadership that our Interim Vice President for Communications and Marketing, Angela Paik Schaeffer, has provided to our community and our marketing and communications and leadership teams. I thank her for agreeing to continue with us throughout Jeremy’s transition and onboarding process this December.

I also extend my sincere thanks to the faculty, staff and students who participated and provided insightful feedback during the finalist visits, and to the marketing and communications team as well for its continued dedication and efforts through this period of transition. Lastly, I am especially grateful to the search committee for their commitment, collective wisdom and thoughtfulness throughout this process. Members of the search committee included:

  • Marymichele Delaney, Chief Human Resources Officer

  • Amy Finstein, Assistant Professor, Visual Arts

  • Heather Hayes, Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff (Chair)

  • Kit Hughes, Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics

  • Cornell LeSane, Vice President for Enrollment Management

  • Tim O’Brien, S.J., Associate Vice President for Mission

  • Christene Riendeau, Director of Annual Giving and Volunteer Engagement

The success of the search was also the result of the committee’s effective partnership with Heyman Associates, a leader in marketing and communications searches in the U.S.

As we tell the stories and realize the vision of Holy Cross as one of the finest liberal arts institutions in the world, it is imperative that we translate the meaning and value of our Jesuit Catholic education to a new generation. We are well positioned to do that with Jeremy’s leadership. Please join me in welcoming him to Holy Cross.

Sincerely,

Vincent D. Rougeau
President
