¡Hola! My name is Sofía and I will be one of your Spanish FLAs for the 2021/22 academic year. I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina, a cosmopolitan city known as the Paris of South America. I am an English Major and I have been working as an ESL teacher for the past six years. In 2018, I studied at Marquette University, Wisconsin, for one academic semester, and having been immersed in the North American lifestyle was utterly enriching. In addition to this insightful experience, my challenge during the quarantine was to learn German, so I can say that Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch and that I am discovering another interesting culture through its language.
What I relish the most about teaching and learning a new language is to find myself in multicultural places, and being an ESL teacher has allowed me to meet students from different parts of the globe. Thus, I believe foreign languages represent a bridge that helps connect each individual in a mutual level of understanding, as they also break barriers and broaden our minds, leading us to see our culture from a new perspective - isn’t it amazing? No wonder why I am delighted by the opportunity of helping you with your Spanish lessons!
¡Nos vemos pronto!
Sofi
