Louis Morizot

Bonjour à tous! My name is Louis and I am going to be one of your new French FLA.  I’m 23 years old, I was born in a medieval town called Semur-en-Auxois and raised near a city called Sens where sits the first Gothic cathedral ever built. I have a bachelor’s degree in anglophone studies, I studied at the University of Burgundy and spent the last year of my bachelor’s degree at the University of Edinburgh thanks to the Erasmus exchange program.

As much as a pedagogical experience, this year will also be the opportunity for me to discover what it is to live in the US, which is I think essential to fulfill my desire to become a good English teacher. Being a teacher means a lot to me, learning and helping others are to my opinion the best things I can do with my time. When visiting the Holy Cross website, I noticed that emphasis was put on “cura personalis”: having concern and care for the personal development of the whole person is something that seems absolutely essential to me and I would like modestly to apply this motto in my interactions with all of you.

Like most people do, I like to watch movies and to read, I also love playing the bass guitar, watching Japanese animation, spending time in antique shops and doing Thai boxing. I think of sport as an essential means of expression and a wonderful way of exorcizing stress or animosity and I am looking forward to participating in the Holy Cross sport community and supporting the Crusaders. I am always looking to see new things and would be delighted to discover your passions.

I can’t wait to meet all of you and starting to practice French together. It is a beautiful language with a strong identity and a culture to be shared, it will be my pleasure to talk with you about French music, cinema, cuisine, and literature, in class and outside of it.

See you soon!

Louis
