The Chamber Singers is a select choral ensemble of approximately 16 musicians from the College Choir who display the highest level of musical excellence.
This ensemble aims to develop refined ensemble skills that reflect the maximum contribution of each member both vocally and intellectually. The members typically have significant past choral experience. Singers in this ensemble receive instruction in advanced vocal production and appropriate vocal styles for various genres; sight-reading, ear-training, and other musicianship skills; language and diction; repertoire and cultural history; and have the experience of performing frequently in a variety of venues.
As an outreach ensemble for the College, the Chamber Singers performs at collegiate and alumni functions, short-range tours in the New England area, and other events. The group explores a challenging repertoire ranging from classical part songs and Renaissance motets to contemporary compositions, including classical, jazz, folk, and popular music.
