  • Accounting Club - Provides resources to accounting students to further their careers and to give back to the community.
  • American Medical Student Association (AMSA) - Provides students with opportunities to get involved in, and better understand, the field of medicine.
  • American Sign Language (ASL) Club - Provides students with a fun environment to learn about sign language and Deaf culture, and a place to practice for those taking the language course.
  • Engineering Club - The Engineering Club brings together students interested in engineering to explore the field through hands-on projects, discussions, and career-focused programming. This club provides opportunities to learn about engineering disciplines, connect with peers and professionals, and engage with the practical and creative sides of engineering.
  • Moot Court - Moot Court Trial Team promotes interest in the legal profession by sharing resources, preparing students for law-related careers, and competing in intercollegiate oral advocacy and legal brief-writing contests. The team helps students build strong speaking, debate, and writing skills through competition and practice.
  • Physicians Associates Club - Educates students interested in a PA career and assists with preparing for the application process, as well as networking and volunteering opportunities.
  • Pre-Dental Society - Provides students with meaningful peer, alumni and professional connections as well as resources and strategies for successful application to dental schools.

  • Science Ambassadors - Science Ambassadors promotes enthusiasm for science at Holy Cross and in the broader community through outreach, education, and engagement. The organization gives students opportunities to share their interest in science, serve as mentors and role models, and help make scientific learning accessible and exciting for others.

  • Women in Economics - Women in Economics (WIE) supports students interested in economics through mentorship, networking, professional development, and educational programming. Open to all students, WIE encourages exploration of economics and related career paths while building community in the field.
  • XCHROM - XCHROM builds community among students interested in STEM through peer support, alumni and professional connections, research engagement, and service opportunities. The organization encourages academic growth, career exploration, and leadership.

  • The Agency - Educates students interested in public relations, advertising, and marketing. Members meet alumni who work in the industry through workshops, speakers and networking events.
  • College Street Journal - A business, finance and economics newspaper, with current events, relevant news on and off-campus, internship/job opportunities, professor editorials and more.
  • Consulting Club - Through semester-long consulting projects, the club leverages education, digital fluency, mentorship networks and knowledge to empower small business owners.
  • The Finance Club - Focuses on Wall Street career prep, financial markets, institutions, trends and current events; members network with alumni in the field.
  • HC Launch - A student-run incubator fostering entrepreneurial skills and ventures through a holistic approach to support individuals with skills training, mentorship and funding opportunities.
  • HC Equity Research Club (HCREC) - Members gain technical skills, experience and knowledge in the fields of asset valuation, equity research and portfolio management.

  • HerCampus - Her Campus at Holy Cross serves as a career-launching platform for students interested in journalism, writing, editing, digital media, and content creation. Through collaborative publishing and leadership opportunities, members build portfolios, strengthen professional skills, and create content on a wide range of topics relevant to student life.
  • Purple Patcher - Holy Cross’ yearbook; creates a historic record of the school year, providing a sense of pride among students and staff and serves as a community awareness tool.
  • The Spire - The Holy Cross newspaper; publishes articles that represent the student voice on Mount Saint James.
  • Ultraviolet Studios - Ultraviolet Studios brings together students interested in video production and film through creative collaboration, hands-on projects, and media-making opportunities. This organization provides a space to explore filmmaking, develop technical and storytelling skills, and share original visual work with the Holy Cross community.
  • WCHC 88.1 - Broadcasts 24/7 on the air and via the Web, with student and faculty DJs occupying airtime during the school year between 8 a.m. and 2 a.m. every day.
  • WCHC Sports - Broadcasts Holy Cross games over the radio and serves as the primary source of live-streaming video for CBS College Sports, Crusader Vision and the B2 Networks.

  • Advocating Student Interest in Asia (ASIA) - Develops and expands cultural interests and understanding through activities that engage and immerse members in Asian culture.
  • Arab Student Association (ASA) - The Arab Student Association celebrates and explores the diversity of Arab cultures through cultural expression, traditional cuisine, dance, and community events. Open to all students, the organization fosters learning, connection, and cultural appreciation across the Holy Cross community.
  • Black Student Union (BSU) - The Black Student Union (BSU) at the College of the Holy Cross builds community through programs that highlight Black history, culture, and student life. Open to all students, BSU sponsors academic, cultural, and social events that encourage learning, dialogue, and campus engagement.
  • Caribbean African Student Assembly (CASA) - Facilitates education regarding the experiences of Caribbean and African peoples, while sharing their cultures with Holy Cross and Worcester.
  • Developing and Educating South-Asian Ideologies (DESI) - Enhances, reinforces and strengthens the development of South-Asian culture and social awareness at the College.
  • Exploring Mind, Body, Originality, Design, and Yourself (EMBODY) - EMBODY creates a space for students to explore fashion and personal style through clothing, jewelry, hair, makeup, and other forms of self-presentation. The organization brings people together through creative workshops and conversation centered on style, culture, and expression.
  • Holy Cross Hellenic Society - Creates a network of Greek Americans on campus and to preserve heritage through programs that support Hellenic culture and form community.
  • Il Circolo Italiano - Il Circolo Italiano brings together students interested in exploring and celebrating Italian culture, language, and history at Holy Cross. Open to all students, the organization fosters community through events and activities that encourage cultural learning, connection, and appreciation for Italy’s influence around the world.
  • Latin American Student Organization (LASO) - Fosters an atmosphere of cultural and experiential diversity and education amongst the Latin community and wider Holy Cross community.
  • Movimiento Estudiantil Progressive Action (MEPA) - M.E.P.A. at the College of the Holy Cross builds community through education, dialogue, cultural programming, and civic engagement. The organization encourages awareness of social issues, student leadership, and collaboration with related student groups on campus and beyond.
  • Pinoys of Worcester - Promotes an awareness and understanding of Filipino culture, while raising awareness of the significant issues impacting the Philippines at the College.
  • PRIDE (LGBTQIA+ & Allies) - Educates the College campus on the issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, while uplifting the voices through active and passive programming.
  • ProspHER - ProspHER builds community by centering the experiences of self-identified women of marginalized identities and welcoming all students who support this work through mentorship, wellness programming, alumni connections, and professional development opportunities. Open to all students who support its mission, the organization encourages personal growth, resilience, and leadership.
  • Vietnamese Student Associations - The Vietnamese Student Association celebrates and shares Vietnamese culture, traditions, and community at Holy Cross. Open to all students, the organization fosters cultural learning, connection, and appreciation through events, activities, and campus programming.

  • Counseling Outreach Peer Educators (COPE) - Connects the Counseling Center and students through outreach programs meant to increase awareness of mental health issues and reduce the stigma associated with seeking help.
  • Disability Rights, Education, Activism, and Mentoring (DREAM) - Aims to create a welcoming, stigma-free campus that promotes disability pride allowing all students an opportunity to flourish and embrace their differences.
  • Multicultural Peer Educators (MPE) - Trained student volunteers who assist in programming, work with staff and residence assistants and engage other students on topics of diversity.
  • Relationship Peer Educators (RPE) - Educates and encourages students to examine important issues around intimate relationships, sexual responsibility and the factors surrounding and prevention of sexual assault.
  • Student Health Awareness Peer Educators (SHAPE) - Dedicated to educating the student body about a variety of health issues and public health concerns and guiding individuals to wellness and disease prevention.
  • Students Promoting Expression, Empathy, and Civic Harmony (SPEECH) - Student leaders committed to engaging in brave conversations and dialogue amongst the Holy Cross community.
  • Students Who Educate, Empower, and Train (SWEET) - Educates students about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; providing information to promote low-risk choices relating to the use of substances.

  • Alternate College Theatre (ACT) - A student-run theater group offering the opportunity to star in a show, work on a stage crew, manage publicity or any other aspect of theatrical production.
  • Dance Ensemble - Offers a chance to learn and practice at Holy Cross through student-taught workshops that include jazz, tap, hip-hop, ballet, lyrical, contemporary and performance.
  • Delilahs - All-female a cappella group performing for the Holy Cross community regularly and offers annual Christmas and spring concerts.
  • Entropy - Entropy provides a space for students to explore comedy at Holy Cross through written and improvised sketch performance. The organization gives students opportunities to learn, practice, and share their creativity through comedy.
  • Fools on the Hill - Holy Cross’ only co-ed a cappella group performing short programs every Thursday and larger concerts throughout the year.
  • Fusion Hip-Hop Dance Team - A hip-hop dance group that combines influences from all styles of dance. All dancers and non-dancers are welcome to participate.
  • Holy Cross Irish Dance - Unifies the student body through the practice, performance, competition and instruction of the ancient tradition of Irish dance for both experienced and inexperienced students.
  • Kxplosion - Unites students who share interests in K-pop dance and educates other Holy Cross students about K-pop culture.
  • Latinidad Identidad - A dance team that hopes to spread Latinx awareness through dance and art on and off campus.
  • Line Dancing in the New Era (L.I.N.E.) - Line Dancing in the New Era (L.I.N.E.) celebrates the tradition, energy, and evolving style of line dancing in the modern era. Through movement, music, and shared performance, the organization builds community and appreciation for line dancing as it blends influences from pop, Latin, R&B, hip-hop, and other genres.
  • Off the Record - All-female a cappella group that teaches students to arrange and perform songs while forming bonds, with other Holy Cross students who are passionate about music.
  • ROOTS - ROOTS celebrates African and Caribbean dance traditions through movement, music, and performance. This organization builds community while creating opportunities to learn, share, and appreciate the cultural history and artistic expression of African and Caribbean dance at Holy Cross.
  • Sangre y Folklore - Sangre y Folklore celebrates the traditions, history, and cultural pride expressed through Mexican folklórico dance. Through movement, music, and performance, the organization shares regional storytelling, heritage, and artistic expression while building community and appreciation for folkloric traditions at Holy Cross.

  • Action for Education - Works closely with the national scholarship program, working to raise funds to provide scholarships for financially disadvantaged families to send their children to school.
  • Dance Marathon - Provides informational, and educational experiences on campus, while raising awareness and funds for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF).
  • HC for a Cure - Student-run group devoted to fundraising for, spreading awareness of and supporting those who have been affected by breast cancer.
  • Spring Break Immersion Program - Provides an opportunity for service, reflection and immersion through team building and shared experiences around the United States.
  • Student Programs for Urban Development - Promotes social justice through service in solidarity with the Greater Worcester community, fostering the strengths and talents of all.

  • Muslim Student Association - The Muslim Student Association (MSA) fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for Muslim students and others interested in learning about Islam and Muslim life at Holy Cross. Through religious, social, and educational programming, the organization supports spiritual life, encourages dialogue and reflection, and promotes understanding of Islam and its diverse cultural traditions across the campus community.
  • Pax Christi - Strives to create a world that reflects the Peace of Christ by exploring, articulating and bearing witness to the call of Christian nonviolence.
  • Society of Saints Peter and Paul - Provide a community for students who seek to grow in their love of Jesus Christ and to deepen their knowledge of the Catholic faith. 

  • Architecture & Design Association - Works to create a community of students who share an interest in all facets of architecture and design.
  • Benedict Joseph Fenwick Debating Society - Cultivates knowledge, eloquence and understanding among Holy Cross students through debate.
  • Best Buddies - Matches students with Buddies in the Worcester community, creating relationships and giving back to our neighbors.
  • Chess Club - Chess Club brings together students interested in chess for casual play, skill development, and friendly competition. Open to players of all experience levels, the club provides a space to learn the game, sharpen strategy, and build community through regular meetings and events.
  • College Democrats - Works both on and off campus to create educational forums and to promote Democratic principles.
  • College Republicans - Seeks to cultivate, discuss and promote the ideas of the Republican Party.
  • Eco-Action - Grows campus consciousness of our relationship to the environment by organizing education, service and action opportunities in our community.
  • Federalist Society - Fosters critical thought and debate about the application of conservative and libertarian principles to the law.
  • HCF1rst Scholars - HCF1RST builds community and shares resources for students navigating college as first-generation and/or limited-income students. Open to all students, the organization promotes mentorship, campus engagement, and student success through programming, support, and dialogue.
  • HC Goes Unified - Connects campus with members of the local community with special needs to play basketball and soccer, building strong connections and friendships.
  • Peace of Mind - Promotes self-awareness and practices of self-care among students through expressive workshops, yoga and thought-provoking public statements/demonstrations.
  • Students For Life - Students for Life (SFL) promotes a culture of life on campus and beyond by affirming the inherent dignity of every human being at every stage of life, from conception to natural death. Through education, advocacy, and community-building, the organization engages students in thoughtful discussion of issues related to life and human dignity, including abortion, euthanasia, and capital punishment.
  • Student Art Society: Coalition of Creatives - Increases access to and enjoyment of student art on campus through regular meetings, art exhibits, and community events.

Recreation, Club and Intramural Sports

Clubs are formed by groups of students and often compete with other sports clubs from other colleges and universities. 

  • Holy Cross Ballroom Dance Team (HCBDT) - Holy Cross Ballroom Dance Team provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of ballroom dance. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Club Baseball - Holy Cross Club Baseball provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of baseball. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Club Tennis - Holy Cross Tennis Club provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of tennis. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Equestrian Club - Sanctioned by the IHSA, the club practices at Maple Grove Barn. On weekends, they travel to UMass-Dartmouth, Assumption University, and Johnson & Wales University. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Figure Skating Club - Holy Cross Figure Skating Club provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of figure skating. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Gaming and Esports Club - Holy Cross Gaming & Esports Club provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in an assortment of games and esports. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition. The Gaming & Esports Club also hosts regular video game, board game, and card game nights for members looking for a more recreational option. 
  • Golf Club - Holy Cross Golf Club provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of golf. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Holy Cross Club Gaelic Football - Holy Cross Club Gaelic Football provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of Gaelic football. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Men's Club Basketball - Holy Cross Men's Club Basketball provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of basketball. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Men's Club Hockey - Holy Cross Men's Club Ice Hockey provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of ice hockey. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Men's Club Lacrosse - Holy Cross Men's Club Lacrosse provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of lacrosse. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Men's Club Rugby - Holy Cross Men's Rugby Club provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of rugby. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.  The Men's Rugby Club placed third in the National Chamiponship tournament in 2021 and 2025 and placed second in 2024.  Come join the club as we pursue the National Championship! 
  • Men's Club Soccer - Holy Cross Men's Club Soccer provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of soccer. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Men's Club Volleyball - Holy Cross Men's Club Volleyball provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of volleyball. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Outdoors Club - The Outdoors Club is a student organization committed to exploring the parks, trails, mountains, and other outdoor adventure opportunities available around Holy Cross and the surrounding area. The Outdoors Club is focused on allowing students to stretch their legs off campus in beautiful wildlife conservations.  The Outdoors Club is open to all Holy Cross students interested in exploring the natural world of New England.  
  • Running Club - Holy Cross Running Club provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of running. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.  The Running Club affords members the opportunity to compete in races around New England or just to run with some fellow Holy Cross students.  
  • Ski Team - Holy Cross Ski Team is an alpine ski racing team that provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of skiing. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Swim Team - Holy Cross Club Swim provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of swimming. Open to swimmers of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Ultimate Frisbee - Holy Cross Ultimate Frisbee Team provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of ultimate frisbee. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Women’s Club Basketball - Holy Cross Women's Club Basketball provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of basketball. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Women's Club Field Hockey - Holy Cross Club Field Hockey provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of field hockey. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Women’s Club Lacrosse - Holy Cross Women's Club Lacrosse provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of lacrosse. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Women’s Club Hockey - Holy Cross Women's Club Ice Hockey provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of ice hockey. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Women’s Club Soccer - Holy Cross Women's Club Soccer provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of soccer. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.
  • Women’s Club Volleyball - Holy Cross Women's Club Volleyball provides students with the opportunity to learn, practice, and compete in the sport of volleyball. Open to players of all experience levels, the club builds community through teamwork, skill development, and competition.

Intramural sports provide the opportunity for students to compete against other Holy Cross students in league play. Each league lasts about 4-6 weeks and culminates in the crowning of an intramural champion for each sport. There is no travel involved nor is practice required. 

Cost to Play Intramurals

There is no extra charge to play on an intramural team. Each team pays a $20 forfeit fee prior to league play. If a team does not forfeit throughout the season, they can get their money back. If they forfeit a game, the $20 is used to offset the cost of intramural officials.

Intramural Play Period

Each semester is broken up into 4 quarters. The 1st quarter of sports begins two weeks after classes begin. The 2nd quarter begins mid-October and runs through the end of the fall semester. In the spring, the 3rd quarter sports begin in early February and run through spring break. The 4th quarter runs through mid-March to the final day of classes in May.

Types of Activities

Activities vary year-to-year but often include sports such as volleyball, dodgeball, pickleball, badminton, soccer, basketball, flag football, and kickball.

Creating or Joining a Team 

IMLeagues allows easy sign-ups, scheduling, and keeps updated rosters. Students can create or join a team by registering on IMLeagues. If students do not have enough players to create their own team, they can join an existing team or become a free agent and the Office of Campus Recreation will work to find them a team.

Spirit Programs

The Goodtime Marching Band (GTMB) is one of the most visible performing ensembles on campus and performs at football games throughout the fall semester. The performances consist of playing popular music in the stands, during pregame engagements and halftime shows.

A generous, anonymous donor has created a new fund to provide 45 scholarships of $1,000 that are available for new or existing band members. This scholarship is available to any student at Holy Cross, regardless of class year or existing awards.

The Bettertime Pep Band performs at men’s and women’s home basketball games, select ice hockey games, and at other college functions and sporting events by invitation. The purpose is to support Holy Cross athletic teams enthusiastically and to entertain Holy Cross fans in the Hart Center with a variety of musical styles.
