HCAA Awards
In Hoc Signo Award
Each year, Holy Cross honors up to four graduates with the Alumni Association’s highest honor, the In Hoc Signo Award. First presented in June 1960, the In Hoc Signo Award is an expression of respect and admiration for those alumni who have given most generously of their time and talents to Holy Cross.
Nomination forms are due by Feb. 27, 2026.
Young Alumni Leadership Award
Established in June 2011, the Young Alumni Leadership Award recognizes a young alumnus/a who has graduated within the past ten years and has demonstrated outstanding service to alma mater through the Alumni Association's committees and activities, regional club or class.

Awards Standards of Eligibility
Any living alumnus/a of the College who has rendered and volunteered such meritorious service to the College, any of its alumni organizations or his/her class, by unusual, extraordinary, faithful and continued efforts, or in promoting and enhancing the prestige and reputation of the College and its Jesuit mission.
Service rendered by an alumnus/a as a compensated employee of the College, professional and business achievements and benefactions and donations shall not qualify as meritorious service and do not represent or shall be considered eligible qualifications. The president of an alumni organization, an employee of the College or a member of the Board of Trustees, while serving as such, may not be nominated for the HCAA awards. The Committee shall not consider any nominee endorsed formally by the board of directors of a regional alumni club or other organization. The awards shall not be made on the basis of class, geography, gender or race, but solely for meritorious service.

Ann F. Anesta ’82
For almost four decades, Ann has served as a volunteer and leader of the Holy Cross Club of Rhode Island. Among countless social, spiritual and athletic offerings that she organized, Ann managed the Club’s Scholarship program and helped implement the HCAA’s Summer Internship opportunities in Rhode Island in support of Holy Cross students. In 2017, she was presented with the HCAA Regional Clubs Volunteer Award which recognizes outstanding service to the national network of regional clubs. Ann served four terms on the HCAA Board of Directors and has been a member of the HCAA Senate since 2006. She served on numerous Board committees including Nominations and Elections, Senior Reception and Continuing Education and co-chaired the Regional Clubs Committee.
Ann and her husband, Joe, reside in Cranston, RI.
Elizabeth Graebe Antony ‘88
A member of the HCAA Board of Directors from 2018-2025, her tenure included terms as Vice-President (2022-2025) and Executive Committee member (2020-2025). She co-chaired the HCAA Legacy, Board Engagement and Young Alumni Committees and participated in several ad-hoc initiatives. Beth founded the Holy Cross Club of Nashville and served as its president from 2015-2021. She also served as a member of the Class of 1998’s Reunion Gift committees. The parents of Will ‘22 and John ‘25, she and her husband, Brent, co-chaired the Holy Cross Parents Council and served on the Senior Parent Gift Committee. Beth’s active engagement with current and prospective students includes speaking at the annual Women in Business Conference, serving as a longtime admissions volunteer and participating as an Alumni Mentor through the College’s Center for Career Development.
Beth is the founder of CAC Consulting, an educational consulting practice. She and her husband, Brent, reside in Brookline, MA.
Thomas H. Carey ’66
Tom served two terms on the College’s board of trustees (2008-2016), serving as vice chair of the board and co-chair of the Advancement Committee (2010-2016). A member of the Become More Campaign executive committee, he was a founding member and chair of the New York Leadership Council which helped develop and support internships and networking in the region. He served on and led numerous Council Dinner committees from 2003 to 2020 in support of internship funding. Tom worked closely with Public Affairs and Marketing to establish the Holy Cross Communications Council and the HC Marketing Advisory Group. He was a past Chair and serves as a current member of the President’s Advisory Board. For his professional achievements, Tom was awarded the Sanctae Crucis Award in 2016.
An advertising strategist, Tom retired as executive vice president of Omnicom Group and resides with his wife, Jean, in Durham, NC.
Shaun P. Mathews ’77
A member of the College’s board of trustees for eight years (2016-2024), Sean served on numerous trustee committees, including chairing the Advancement Committee and was a member of the Academic Affairs, Audit, Buildings and Grounds Committees. His volunteerism included key leadership roles as the National Chair of the Holy Cross Fund (2013-2017) and member of the Become More campaign cabinet (2014-2020). A devoted member of the Class of 1977, Shaun has supported their highly successful fundraising and engagement efforts by serving as Gift Chair for four Reunions, including his 50th in 2027, as well as a current Class Co-Chair. He was a member of the Holy Cross Alumni Association Board of Directors for six years and currently serves on the President’s Board of Advisors.
Shaun is the Founder and Manager of DHGI, LLC and resides with his wife Kathleen in New Castle, NH.
Catherine “Kay” M. Woodtli ’21
Kay Woodtli ‘21 is the recipient of the 2026 Young Alumni Leadership Award.
As a regional coordinator of the Holy Cross Club of Metro New York City, Kay is charged with engaging one of the largest and most active alumni communities across the country. She has led, organized and promoted a wide range of events including social gatherings, athletic watch parties, service activities and career networking programs. Kay’s management of the club’s social media and recruitment of volunteers has strengthened communication and outreach efforts to local alumni in support of the HCAA’s mission. She also served as an active member on the Class of 2021’s 5th Reunion Planning and Gift Committee.
Kay is an Associate on the Implementation Specialist Team at iCapital and resides in New York, NY.
