Art History
Students in the history of art examine the rich heritage of global artistic and cultural traditions through specialized lecture and seminar courses. Our art history graduates include educators, museum curators and directors, auction house administrators and appraisers, art librarians, historical preservationists, art publishers and grants managers.

Offered through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the minor consists of six courses and a portfolio, accompanied by a final reflection. You can personalize your path by selecting courses from across the College, allowing you to specialize in one of two emphases:

Offered through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the Africana Studies program explores:
- the social construction of race
- use of comparative case studies or a regional approach
- methods and theories
Biology
The Department of Biology is housed in the College's Integrated Science Complex. In addition to state-of-the-art campus facilities — which include confocal and scanning electron microscopes, anaerobic growth chambers, real time thermocyclers, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and a flow cytometer — the department also makes extensive use of nearby sites for field studies that are central to ecological and evolutionary biology.

Each semester the department offers approximately 25 upper-division courses for majors, as well as numerous offerings for non-majors at the introductory and intermediate levels. These include:
Biochemistry
Students will complete a full year of biochemistry with lab, exploring concepts and techniques fundamental to the field of biochemistry. Given the inherent interdisciplinary nature of biochemistry, students in the concentration will also explore a variety of biology and chemistry courses beyond the requirements of their major (biology or chemistry). Finally, students will engage in a year-long independent research project, applying the skills they have developed throughout their coursework to address pressing scientific questions in a real-world research setting.
Deaf Studies & Sign Languages
Offered through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the program is unique for its wealth of opportunities to learn American Sign Language and sign languages such as Black Sign Language from native ASL signers.

Catholic Studies
Offered through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, students work closely with faculty and their advisors to create their own unique Catholic Studies curriculum. Choosing from at least three disciplines, students create a major or minor path of study that supports their individual interests and passion.
