Uncovering the Healy Family History and Holy Cross' Relationship with Enslavement, Hogan 320

In 2024, the College welcomed journalist Rachel Swarns to speak about her New York Times story that revealed the Jesuits not only enslaved people, but sold 272 children, women and men to fund Georgetown University and expand its schools across the country. To coincide with Swarns' visit, the College began re-examining its past. The research has led to new details about Holy Cross' past, the Healys and how Holy Cross benefited from enslavement. Join this presentation by Michael Bonner, director of internal and executive communications and a former journalist, to learn more about the research. RSVP here!
