Description

Join us on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 18, 2026 for a behind-the-scenes look at how a medicine moves from idea to FDA approval—from early-stage startup innovation to large-scale pharmaceutical development. This guided visit will take students into both an incubator/accelerator environment and a global biopharma organization to compare how decisions are made, how risks are managed, and how patient needs shape every step of the process.

Worcester area college students will tour:

  • MBI (Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives) is a biotech incubator/accelerator that supports early-stage life science startups with lab space, shared equipment, mentorship, and connections to funding and commercialization resources.

  • AbbVie is a global biopharmaceutical company that advances medicines through clinical development, regulatory approval, manufacturing, and commercialization to reach patients at scale.

Explore career entry points, learn about internships and early-career programs, and build your network with professionals across research, regulatory, clinical trials, manufacturing, commercialization, and leadership. You’ll examine real-world ethical considerations and the patient impact behind scientific and business choices.
