Description
You are cordially invited to attend a celebration of the SIA project “Art in an Early Global World at WAM.” This digital resource, created by Holy Cross students, faculty, and staff, is now available to the public on iPads across multiple galleries at the Worcester Art Museum (WAM). Come see the work of your friends and colleagues and celebrate the completion of this large-scale public research project! Refreshments will be served. Brief remarks and thanks at 4:30pm. A selection of student videos will be screened, and some students will be available to answer questions about their research.
Art in an Early Global World at WAM makes visible the global connections between WAM's rich collection of premodern objects. Over 200 Holy Cross students, 8 Holy Cross faculty across departments, and 6 WAM curators all worked together, supported by the Holy Cross Center for Writing, librarians, the Donelan Office, and IT, to research 50 individual WAM objects, create original video and text about those objects, and build a multimedia website accessible both from inside the WAM and worldwide. This project was led by Prof. Amanda Luyster (Visual Arts) and supported by two Scholarship in Action grants from the College of the Holy Cross and a Centennial Grant from the Medieval Academy of America.
Please reach out to Isabelle Jenkins (ijenkins@holycross.edu) with questions or if you need accommodations at the event.
