Biography

Ulysses Loken has performed in concerts across northern California, the Pacific Northwest, and Louisiana, collaborating with principal members of the Lake Charles Symphony, Eugene Symphony, the Oregon Symphony, the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, the San Jose Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He has performed at festivals and events including the Oregon Bach Festival, the Northwest Horn Symposium, the Marshanne Players Chamber Music Series, the Curious Flights Series, the Old First Concert Series, and elsewhere.

Active as a collaborative pianist and teacher of piano and music theory, he has been on the faculty and staff at McNeese State University in Louisiana, Academy of Art University, City College of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, Ruth Osawa School of the Arts, the San Francisco Community Music Center, and The Shedd Community Institute in Eugene, Oregon.

He received the Doctorate of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano with a Secondary Area in Music Theory from the University of Oregon and the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from San Francisco State University. He is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) through the Music Teachers National Association Professional Certification Program.
