Biography

Loren R. Cass is Professor of Political Science and Director of the International Studies Program. He earned his PhD from Brandeis University. His research focuses on environmental foreign policy and global environmental politics with a primary emphasis on the politics of climate change and acid rain. He is the author of The Failures of American and European Climate Policy: International Norms, Domestic Politics, and Unachievable Commitments (SUNY Press, 2006) and has published in the Cambridge Review of International Af airs and Global Environmental Politics as well as with Ashgate Publishing, Blackwell Publishing, Brookings, Edward Elgar, Routledge, SUNY Press, and World Scientific Publications. He has served Holy Cross in the past as the Dean of Experiential Learning and Student Success, Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, Faculty Ombudsperson, and Director of Environmental Studies. 

His teaching includes Comparative Environmental Politics, Global Energy Politics, Global Environmental Politics, International Political Economy, and Introduction to International Relations. He has also taught

in the Montserrat and College Honors Programs. He is the director of the International Studies Program and a member of the Environmental Studies faculty. He is a former president of the Active Learning in International Affairs Section of the International Studies Association.
