
Biography
Faisal Baluch is an Associate professor of Political Science at the College of the Holy Cross. His research and teaching interests range across the history of political thought. Over the years, he has brought several new courses to Holy Cross. A representative sample includes: The Trial and Death of Socrates, Political Philosophy and Greek Tragedy, Machiavelli's Politics, Islamic Political Thought, Politics and Literature, and The People and Political Philosophy. He is currently working on three research projects. The first deals with the Florentine political philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli. The second focuses on the trial of Socrates. The third traces the evolution of the concept of the people in Western political thought. He has published several articles and book chapters on Plato, Machiavelli, and Hannah Arendt. Baluch received his Ph.D. in political science from Notre Dame, his M.A. in political science from the University of Houston, his M.A. in finance from Western Sydney University, and his B.A. in economics and finance from the University of Mauritius.
When not teaching, reading, or engaged in research you will find him exploring the back roads of New England on two wheels.
