Denise Schaeffer

Biography

Professor Denise Schaeffer specializes in political philosophy, with a particular interest in the importance of judgment to democratic citizenship. She has authored and co-authored numerous scholarly articles and chapters as well as two books: Rousseau on Education, Freedom, and Judgment (2014), and Plato’s Euthydemus (with Gregory McBrayer and Mary P. Nichols, 2010). Her work has been supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship and she currently serves on the editorial board of The Review of Politics and the Executive Board of the Rousseau Association
