Application Process

Beginning in 2020, rising sophomores and rising juniors will be invited to apply to the College Honors Program if they are nominated by a Holy Cross faculty member who has taught them. Invitations and application materials are sent out via email by the end of July. If you think you should be a candidate but have not received a letter of invitation and application materials via email by the first week of August, please contact the director of College Scholar Programs, Ellen E. Perry

Students are asked to submit a writing sample from a college class of their choice, two brief essays in response to prompts in the application, a transcript, a resume, and two faculty recommendations. The applications will be due via the Student Application Program website on Sept. 18, 2020.

All applications will be read by the honors director and the professors teaching the Sophomore Honors seminar. An initial group of students will be selected for interviews with the honors director and another faculty member. From the group of students interviewed, no more than 33 sophomores will be invited to become members of the Honors Program. Additionally, 2-3 juniors may be invited to join the program. All applicants will be informed by email about their status before meeting with their advisors for registration for the spring semester.
