Biography
¡Hola!
My name is Clara, and I’ll be one of your Spanish FLAs for the 2025/2026 year!
I come from Granada, a magical city in the south of Spain, also known as the city of the Alhambra. As William Shakespeare once said, “Every inquisitive traveler keeps Granada in his heart, without having even visited it.” My love for my city and its rich heritage has always inspired me to share its charm with others, so I hope by the end of the year Granada will have a place in your heart too.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada, and more recently, I earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and another in English Teaching for Secondary Education. Two years ago, I also had the opportunity to work as a Spanish TA at Illinois Wesleyan University. This experience deepened my passion for teaching my language and culture, so I’m thrilled to continue this journey at Holy Cross.
As a language lover, I enjoy travelling and getting to know other cultures. Beyond that, I’ve been passionate about dancing since I was a kid and have tried different dancing styles throughout my life, from flamenco to hip-hop! Three years ago, I took up cooking, so I’d be happy to share some traditional Spanish dishes with you. I also love meeting new people and chatting, so feel free to talk to me in Spanish anytime, whether in or out of class!
I’m looking forward to meeting you all.
¡Nos vemos muy pronto!
Un abrazo,
Clara
