In this lecture, Kate Manne, associate professor at the Sage School of Philosophy at Cornell University, offers her definition of misogyny, as distinct from sexism, as laid out in her 2017 book, “Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny” (Oxford University Press, 2018). She then turns to the substantive nature of misogyny and describes its applications, including violence by incels, online media harassment, healthcare disparities, and the difficulty women have attaining leadership positions.
