Rev. Clarence E. Sloane, S.J.

Rev. Clarence E. Sloane, S.J. Portrait of Rev. Clarence E. Sloane, S.J. (1896-1952), who graduated from Holy Cross in 1918 and went on to continue his education at Woodstock College and Weston College. Rev. Sloane was ordained in 1930 and returned to Holy Cross where he served as Assistant Professor of Poetry (1925-27), Associate Professor of Philosophy (1931-1934), Professor of Psychology (1935-1952), and College Librarian (1942-1952).

Painted by Frank C. Bensing (1893-1983), who received his art training at the Art Institute of Chicago. Bensing was known for his oil paintings and illustrations, which he contributed to various magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post and Country Gentleman.
