The Libraries remain committed to supporting students, faculty and staff during remote learning.
Access to Resources
We know that many students rely upon library resources to complete their academic work, and we are continuously working with faculty to help ensure continued access to those resources.
In addition to our extensive collection of ebooks, students may request that portions of books from our physical collections be scanned to them through our Document Delivery service. We are available to work with students on an individual basis to investigate access to materials they may need. If you are unable to access a resource that you need to complete your coursework, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work with you to explore options.
Students who are approved to reside on or access campus during the Fall 2020 semester will be able to access library facilities during opening hours.
For more information about resource access, please see our guide to Remote Research.
Student Research Support
Holy Cross Research Librarians continue to be available for research support through all of the usual channels, including the Personal Research Session program. Students may sign-up for a 30-minute virtual Personal Research Session with a professional librarian. PRS offer individualized assistance with topic development, searching, citations and all other aspects of the research process, customized to the student's needs at that point in time. Appointments are available with any of our research librarians throughout the week, including some evenings and weekends. Librarians will accommodate whatever means of contact works best for each student, including Zoom, Google Hangouts, telephone, chat, etc.
To schedule a Personal Research Session, visit our Appointment Calendar.
Students can also contact a librarian through our centralized e-mail, email@example.com, which is monitored 7 days a week, as well as the Libraries' chat, which is staffed 24/7 in partnership with the AJCU Virtual Reference Project and is staffed by Holy Cross Research Librarians Sun 5-8pm EST, Mon-Thurs 9-8pm EST, and Fri 9-5pm EST.
The Libraries will reopen for normal operations on Monday, August 31, after which faculty will have full access to onsite materials and facilities. We will also continue to honor faculty requests for pick-up of print materials from all three campus libraries, which can be initiated by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or placing a Document Delivery request.
The Libraries are actively working to support faculty in providing a rich remote learning experience. We encourage faculty to contact email@example.com or call 508-793-2642 if there is anything that we can do to assist you.
More detailed information about services available for faculty support is available on our guide to Faculty Services.
