Individual career counseling is available to all current full-time students and to recent graduates of Holy Cross. The Center for Career Development staff bases our career counseling on a three stage model of career development: self-assessment, exploration, and implementation.
The Strong Interest Inventory is a widely-used career-assessment tool which measures career interests. Students interested in participating in career-assessment should stop by the office, email careers@holycross.edu or call 508-793-3880 to make an appointment with a career counselor.
The HC Network is a database of Holy Cross graduates throughout the country who have volunteered to discuss their career, industry and/or employer with students and offer advice regarding the internship or job search process. Access the HC Network.
Many workshops and special events are scheduled throughout each semester for students of all class years. The Center for Career Development coordinates an annual fall career fair to provide both seniors and underclass students the opportunity to meet with employers and learn about internship and entry-level opportunities. See the most recent schedule of workshops and events.
The Alumni Job Shadowing Program offers students an opportunity to connect with a Holy Cross alumna/us in your career field of interest. As a participant in the program you will spend ½ or 1 full day with an alumna/us at their place of work where you will observe and learn the daily aspects of their job. There are four application deadlines during the year and you must apply via Handshake. Learn more and apply by logging into Handshake.
Representatives from a variety of organizations visit Holy Cross through the on-campus recruiting program to interview graduating seniors seeking employment in a range of career fields. Some organizations also come to campus to recruit for summer positions. Through the resume referral program, employers request that resumes from interested Holy Cross candidates be submitted to them for interviews which will take place at the employer’s site. Seniors are required to attend a senior workshop in order to participate in these programs.
Mock interviews provide the opportunity to practice and evaluate interview skills. Students may schedule a mock interview by visiting the office in Hogan 203, emailing careers@holycross.edu or calling 508-793-3880. Students must provide a copy of their resume, a job description of the position for which they wish to interview, and come to their mock interview dressed professionally.
