Holy Cross LIFT Coaching Program

Leadership: Influence, Focus, and Transformation

This nine-month group coaching program is intended to provide accelerated leadership development experienced leaders from a variety of functional areas. In a small peer cohort of 4-8 participants with an executive coach facilitating, the program will provide a safe and confidential environment to explore and reflect on:

  • One’s personal leadership style, including:
    • Developing deeper self-awareness to leverage own strengths, identify any gap areas and triggers, and employ effective self-management approaches to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Increasing one’s influence in relation to the Holy Cross professional community.
    • Collaborating and connecting among peers and beyond for feedback and advising, to brainstorm ideas/generate options, and to build community of learning and mutuality.
  • Transformational leadership strategies that empower others to act, including:
    • Understanding and developing the capabilities of diverse team members.
    • Applying approaches, mindset, and tools to more effectively influence, delegate to, and empower others.
    • Practicing approaches and sharing experiences, best practices, and ideas to increase capacity for managing uncertainty and change.

 

Meeting Schedule, Topics and Duration
Meetings will be held by Zoom beginning in October 2023, primarily on Thursdays from 9:00-10:30AM (see the full schedule below).

  • 1.   Foundational Topics (bi-weekly meetings), locations are noted as HC - Holy Cross campus, and Z - Zoom:
    • a.   Z 10/11/23, 8:30AM-10:30AM – Personal Styles: Understand Yourself and Style Shifting with Others
    • b.   HC 10/26/23 – Linking Personal Goals to Organizational Outcomes: Needs, Values, and Job Satisfaction
    • c.   Z 11/9/23 – Chronic Stress and Work-Life Balance: SIHP, Life Balance Wheel, and Facing Saboteurs; LPI 360 Feedback Opens
    • d.   Z 11/21/23 – Integrity, Boundaries & Standards: Staying Open, Facing Avoidance, and Priorities Management Strategies
  • 2.   Leadership Topics (monthly meetings):
    • Z 12/7/23 – Using and Reviewing 360 Feedback: Developing Learning Goals
    • HC 1/9/24 – Model for Leadership Development: Seven Transformations of Leadership
    • Z 2/8/24 – Introduction to Coaching Competencies
    • Z 3/7/24 – Keeping your team creative and curious to innovate
    • HC 4/4/24 – Making tough people calls & holding crucial conversations
    • Z 5/8/24 – Building a High Performing Team: Diversity, talent gaps & development; Follow Up 360 Feedback open
    • HC 6/5/24 – Visioning, empowering and spurring action

 

Program Components

  • Alignment Meeting: Opportunity for prospective participants to meet the Coach and each other, learn about features of the Program, expectations for participation, and to have questions answered.
  • Individual self-assessments: Personal Style Indicator (PSI), Values, Needs, Stress Indicator and Health Planner (SIHP), Life Balance Wheel, participant expectations.
  • Meetings on Zoom or in-person on campus, per Meeting Schedule, Topics and Duration below, with this general agenda:
    • Debrief on prior period (10 min)
    • Presentation on topic (10 min)
    • Discuss topic, share challenges, exchange ideas/suggestions (45 min)
    • Mini-coaching and share thoughts, depending on Coachees' interest and if time permits (15 min)
    • Q&A (7 min)
    • Homework assignment (3 min)
  • Readings/reference/exercise materials on topics, where applicable.
  • Dropbox to share materials electronically, and Zoom videoconferencing platform.
  • Pre-and Post-Program self-ratings and program evaluation.
  • Optional one-on-one coaching via Zoom for each participant once each month
