Lynn (Cormier) Browne, who is pursuing her master of arts degree in applied theology at Elms College, Chicopee, Mass., won the second place graduate level award in an essay contest sponsored by the Cardinal Suenens Program in Theology and Church Life at John Carroll University in Cleveland. Browne is the business manager and accountant for the Catholic schools of Pittsfield, Mass. Harold A. (Hal) Condara Jr., M.D., who has been practicing cardiology in Houston, Texas, at St. Joseph Hospital for eight years, has also been on the board of the JVC-South for the past six years, most recently serving as chairman. Matthew C. Ferguson and his wife, Kristine, announce the birth of their twins, Henry Seamus and Grace Murphy, on June 10. Ferguson practices law in Aspen, Colo. Katherine A. Johnson received tenure in the philosophy department at Hanover (Ind.) College. Justine Harrison Kraus works part time as a physical therapist. Margaret (Egazarian) McGowan and her husband, Michael, announce the birth of their son, Ryan Michael, on June 15, 1998. Hilary M. Nangle, who is now a full-time free-lance writer and editor, contributes regularly to various regional and national publications and Internet sites on skiing, travel, the arts and food. In addition to receiving the Maine Media Women's 1998 Communicator of Achievement Award, she also earned honorary mention in the Harold S. Hirsch Snow Sports Journalism Competition in April. Alfred P. Quirk Jr. has been appointed vice president, finance, and treasurer of Aetna Inc., Hartford, Conn. In addition to directing Aetna's financing and merger and acquisition activity, Quirk is now responsible for capital management, treasury operations and rating agency relations; he also continues to oversee Aetna's corporate finance, foreign exchange, corporate insurance and pension management areas. Kathleen M. Shannon, who has been on the faculty of the Salisbury (Md.) State University for 10 years, was named chair of the department of mathematics and computer science effective in July and was promoted to the rank of full professor effective Aug. 15. Marc J. Thibodeau and his wife, Connie, announce the birth of their twins, James Kelly and Kerri Elizabeth, on March 26.

Colton, director and team leader with BankBoston, cultural, education and healthcare division, is an allocation volunteer for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. Robert and Elizabeth (Barry) Healey announces the birth of their son, John "Jack" Huntington, on April 23. Bob is a partner in the real estate group of Ernst & Young in Boston. Mary-Lynn Kinney and her husband, Roy Szoka, announce the birth of their daughter, Caitlyn Mary, on April 28. Paula P. Litscher has been named vice president of finance and administration with Linx Communications Inc., a communications service provider in Newton, Mass. Katharine Buckley McNamara and her husband, Mike, announce the birth of their daughter, Lucy Kathleen, on July 4. Rev. Bruce T. Morrill, S.J., is assistant professor of theology at Boston College. In March Glennon J. O'Grady, M.D., who is currently vice chairman of family medicine at Boston University-Boston Medical Center, was guest lecturer in Fr. Morrill's graduate course, "Divine Worship and Human Healing;" drawing on his 10 years of experience as director of the Greater Lawrence Family Health Clinic, he spoke on the physician's vocation as healer to the total person. Theresa (Teri) Moschetta, a national account manager for the Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group, received the 1998 Chairman's Award for her work on the scaffolding collapse that shut down a several block radius of midtown Manhattan during the summer of 1998. Moschetta is also an active member of the Women's Leadership Forum, an arm of the Democratic National Committee. Barbara Talmadge Sieber and her husband, Glenn, announce the birth of their son, Kevin Andrew, on June 2.

Martin, USN, has received the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation while assigned to the Precommissioning Unit Higgins. Kasia A. O'Shaughnessy, M.D., is an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology, University of California-San Francisco, Fresno Medical Education Program. Christine Peters-Lawler is currently costume designing the Fox series, "The X-Files," for its fifth season; she recently designed the new film, "The Annihilation of Fish," starring Lynn Redgrave and James Earl Jones, due for release in September. Thomas R. Puleo and his wife, Cathy '86, announce the birth of their son, Kevin Richard, on March 14. Diane Murphy Quinlan, who is an attorney with the Manchester, N.H., law firm of Devine Millimet and Branch, was recently the recipient of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation's Robert E. Kirby Award, given to a lawyer 35 years old or younger who exemplifies the combined traits of civility, courtesy, perspective and excellent advocacy. Gary J. Quinlan is a pilot for Delta Air Lines Inc. and serves as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves, flying C-130 airplanes. Suzanne M. Russell has joined the Chicago, Ill., law firm of Katten Muchin & Zavis as a partner in its tax and financial services departments. Carmine L. Salvucci is associate director-development, at Stanford (Calif.) University. Amy T. Stewart and her husband, Benjamin Ford, announce the birth of their daughter, Anna Caroline, on Jan. 11. Maureen McGrath Svoboda works for Bristol-Myers Squibb, Plainsboro, N.J., in brand management. Grubb & Ellis, a commercial real estate services firm in Pittsburgh, Pa., has named T. Bradley Totten a senior vice president in the transaction services group. Phyllis L. Townsend, M.D., and her husband, Bill Moore, announce the birth of their daughter, Alice Hazel, on Aug. 21, 1998. Dore Jr. announce the birth of their daughter, Amy Elizabeth, on March 30. Adriana Balaguer Dunn and her husband, Chris, announce the birth of their daughter, Catherine. Dunn continues to serve on the faculty at Seton Hall University, Newark, N.J., where she teaches psychology on the graduate level. Joanne Merriam Grega works at Winchester (Mass.) Hospital as the administrative director of four departments. Paul K. Halloran Jr. and his wife, June, announce the birth of their daughter, Martha Lucy, on May 5. Halloran is the news editor at the Daily Evening Item in Lynn, Mass. Kathleen (Duggan) and Michael R. Knapik announce the birth of their daughter, Katherine Rose, on Oct. 3, 1998. Michael was recently elected to his fifth term as a Massachusetts state senator, representing the second Hampden-Hampshire district; he was also appointed the senate's minority whip. Dori (Deptula) LaBella, who is a teacher in the Warwick, R.I., school system, recently received her master of education degree from the University of Rhode Island. Pamela K. Linder, who is the director of a community-based juvenile offender treatment program in New Haven, Conn., provides consultation and training to the department of children and families for the state of Connecticut. Kathleen (McCloskey) and N. Myles Maguire announce the birth of their son, Brian Nicholas, on March 7. In May 1998, Mary-Elizabeth (Tessi) Maynard completed her second master's degree in education from Anna Maria College, Paxton, Mass. Maynard, who currently teaches psychology and sociology at Leominster (Mass.) High School, recently conducted an interdisciplinary/intergenerational psychology/writing project with high school students and local senior citizens. Martha Russell Mitchell and her husband, Elliot, announce the birth of their daughter, Jane Sara, on Feb. 4. Mitchell is the director of development at the Wilmington (Del.) Friends School. Lynne Hutchinson Mudie and her husband, Craig, announce the birth of their daughter, Anne Margaret, on Oct. 31. Mudie is currently teaching math and Spanish to high school students. Virginia Valade Widmann and her husband, Bryan, announce the birth of their daughter, Claire Marie, on Jan. 26. Widmann works part time as a controller for Game Creek Video, a television production truck company in Amherst, N.H.

Cooney is currently working as a registered nurse for the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association, Pittsfield, Mass. Frank J. DiMauro, D.M.D., and his wife, Anne Marie, announce the birth of their daughter, Madeline May, on Aug. 30, 1998. Joseph J. Donner is the global director of corporate communications for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Elizabeth Stolmeier Glauber and her husband, Jeff, announce the birth of their son, Michael Patrick, on July 2. Elizabeth W. Hildebrand and her husband, James, announce the birth of their daughter, Catherine Marie, on Dec. 30. Robert A. Indeglia Jr. has become a principal of Magna Hospitality Group, Providence, R.I.; he is currently serving as executive vice president of the company which owns and operates hotels primarily on the East Coast. Karen Matthews Leary and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, Matthew John, on April 24, 1998. Anne Barry Millard and her husband, Paul, announce the birth of their daughter, Madeleine Elizabeth, on Feb. 1. Stephen T. Murray has been named a partner in the Boston law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo. Robert Nicolai and his wife, Maureen, announce the birth of their daughter, Kristen, on May 2. For the past three years, Nicolai has been self-employed, maintaining an accounting and tax practice. Cathy (Mahanna) Puleo and her husband, Tom '84, announce the birth of their son, Kevin Richard, on March 14. Richard R. Schilling has been employed by NBC to produce its new soap opera entitled Passions, which premiered in July. Timothy R. Walsh is a deputy district attorney in San Diego, Calif., a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves, and an adjunct professor of Law at the University of San Diego Law School.

Finney, MIC, who is the parochial vicar at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., was named the commencement speaker at Marianapolis Preparatory School, Thompson, Conn. Brian D. Gaudette, D.M.D., and his wife, Deborah '91, announce the birth of their son, Eric David, on Dec. 16. Gaudette, who completed a two-year residency program in endodontics at the University of Connecticut in June 1998, is now in group practice with Ocean State Endodontics in Cranston, R.I. John F. Hamilton Jr., who currently owns a special events production company in San Francisco, Calif., produces events and meetings for corporate clients and AIDS-based nonprofit organizations. Kimberly (Willey) Howland and her husband, Mark, announce the birth of their daughter, Madison Elizabeth, on Nov. 30. Howland is a tax attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board in Boston. Nancy Connolly Kimble and her husband, Eric, announce the birth of their daughter, Sara Kathryn, on May 16, 1998. Stephen M. Kluge and his wife, Mary Beth, announce the birth of their son, Brett Alexander, on Dec. 23. Kluge, who is with Scudder Kemper, is currently a senior testing and reporting specialist in the retirement compliance department. Andrea (Halpin) Leary and her husband, Skip '88, announce the birth of their daughter, Rebecca Rose, on July 6, 1998. Jean H. McGrath, who is the coordinator of the "Newspaper in Education Program" for the Scranton (Pa.) Times-Tribune, is also on the board of Friendship House; in June, McGrath served as co-chair of "Friendship House Evening," a fund-raising event held to benefit the organization's early childhood-early prevention program. Lori O'Connell Morton and her husband, Jim, announce the birth of their son, Daniel. After completing a three-year pediatric residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Elizabeth (TePas) Mungovan, M.D., has accepted a three-year fellowship in allergy/immunology at Stanford. Thomas J. Pearce and his wife, Heidi, announce the birth of their daughter, Karli Elizabeth, on April 13. David T.
