The very notion of community is active: identifying community, building community, maintaining community, and adapting as a community. This participatory workshop uses movement methods to explore both leadership and followership. Collaborate and create in an environment that promotes connection, discovery and dialogue as we consider what makes an effective community leader.

LIZ LERMAN'S CRITICAL RESPONSE PROCESS WORKSHOP
Led by choreographer/dancer Elizabeth Johnson
For Music, Visual Arts and Theatre students
Friday, January 30, 2015, 1 - 3 pm
The Pit (O’Kane 37)
Do you have a work in progress? Are you preparing for a show or an audition? Or are you interested in learning how to provide feedback to your peers in a way that helps them fulfill their vision? Then this is for you!
Creating work is both exciting and intimidating. Sharing your work publicly can make any artist, a seasoned professional or a new student, feel very vulnerable, and even defensive. Because most of us feel some discomfort both in receiving and giving feedback, choreographer Liz Leman developed a facilitated four step, artist-centered process for work in development. In this workshop, you will learn the Critical Response Process (CRP) as well as the tools to participate in, and even facilitate productive feedback sessions.
CONNECTIONS, CONVERSATIONS, and ACTION: An Arts-Based Approach to Social Justice
Led by dancer/choreographer Elizabeth Johnson
Friday, January 30, 2015, 4 – 6 pm
Hogan Center, Room 328
CALLING ALL STUDENT LEADERS! What is the relationship between our personal lives and the news in the world? What are the skills we need to respond to current events individually, and as a community? This participatory workshop uses movement to distill a conversation into meaningful action. Come share your voice, however experienced or confident you feel at the moment. In a collaborative and creative environment, identify and build skills for community engagement and experience how an arts-based approach can support social justice efforts. To RSVP, email Amanda Miles at amiles@holycross.edu by Friday, January 23 at 5 p.m.
Co-sponsored with the Student Involvement Office, SGA and Residence Life
