Psychology Practicum

The College of the Holy Cross Counseling Center offers a nine-month Predoctoral Practicum Training Program for clinical or counseling psychology doctoral students. The applicants are expected to have completed, at minimum, one practicum placement through a clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program prior to starting at our center. Practicum students are on-site approximately 16 - 20 hours per week and will have the opportunity to work with a diverse population of young adults who manifest the full spectrum of psychological and psychiatric problems.  The College of the Holy Cross Counseling Center is pleased to be able to offer a "monetary allowance" of approximately $4,840 for each practicum student for the 2019-2020 training year.

Tuesday afternoon from 1 PM – 5 PM is a mandatory training day and practicum students must be on-site during this time.

Practicum students can expect to have a well-rounded clinical training experience in college mental health supported by weekly individual supervision (2 hours), a weekly Training Block which includes seminars on diversity and other clinical issues and case discussion (2 hours).  During the first two weeks of the practicum, students will receive more focused training in the basic operations of the Counseling Center. The externship begins in mid-August and ends in late May.

The usual recruitment cycle begins in late-fall and application materials are welcome in early December. Although it varies by year and weather conditions, we attempt to hold interviews in January and early February. Notifications can be made as early as January and as late as March. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis up until final decisions are made.

The College of the Holy Cross Counseling Center is now accepting applications for the Predoctoral Practicum Training Program for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference (letters from placement supervisors preferred) to the attention of Dr. Adriana DiPasquale either electronically or via post.

This practicum site does not currently participate in the Boston Area Practicum Training Collaborative (PTC) notification process.

Students may also contact Dr. DiPasquale by email at or telephone at (508) 793-3363 with any questions about the practicum program .
