These guides would love to walk The Hill alongside you and showcase all that our beautiful campus has to offer. Please feel free to read through these student profiles and reach out to our tour guides with any questions you may have, either before or after a visit.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross is where my dad went to college and I always kept it on my list of potential options. When it came time to decide, I realized that Holy Cross provided the perfect college environment for me too. With amazing faculty, staff, and students, Holy Cross proved to be committed to its community. I knew then that HC was a place that I could be myself and be surrounded by amazing people who want to help me succeed in any future endeavor.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to show everyone why HC is a place that I care so much about. Holy Cross is a special place full of amazing people, and I want to share my passion for the school with anyone/everyone that will listen.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Watching the Red Sox win the World Series during my first year while surrounded by my Cross Country teammates and FaceTiming with my dad.

Emailjmgarc21@g.holycross.edu
Major: Biology
Career Programs: Pre-Business & Health Professions Advising (Pre-Med)
Co-Curricular Involvement: Club Baseball, SPUD, Intramural Sports

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because it offers a strong sense of community and an outstanding education. Biology was my main interest coming out of high school and Holy Cross's science program is exceptionally strong. However, what really sets the school apart is how the professors go out of their way to help you succeed.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I love being a part of the Holy Cross community and wanted to share that with visitors and prospective students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight from my Holy Cross experience has been being a part of the Club Baseball. It has been a great way to meet new friends and continue to play a sport I loved throughout high school.

Co-Curricular Involvement:  Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, SPUD (Nativity School Worcester), Gateways Orientation, Student Blogger, Senior Interviewer

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for something I can't quite show off on a tour -- the community. Holy Cross is an incredibly supportive and inclusive community of people always striving to do their best. I think we embody the Jesuit principle of "cura personalis," or "care for the whole person" -- Holy Cross and its community helps you grow intellectually, yes, but also emotionally, spiritually, and personally. Each student and staff member here is committed to each other and striving to be people for and with others.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I chose to become a tour guide after volunteering for a semester as an "Admissions Greeter". I quickly realized that I love talking about my Holy Cross experience to help prospective students make their big college decision.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Though there have been many, I think one of my favorite memories is from Fall Gateways Orientation for the Class of 2022. I met an amazing group of people who embodied the best qualities of Holy Cross, both in my orientees and in my fellow orientation leaders. I vividly remember standing outside Hogan at sunset with them at the end of orientation and feeling so incredibly happy and grateful that I couldn't imagine putting it into words.

Career Program: Health Professions Advising
Co-Curricular Involvement: Cheerleader, XCHROM Social Media Coordinator, Big Brother Big Sister Volunteer, African Community Education Volunteer, Maymester Program, Human Resources Office Assistant, Academic Internship Program

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Both of my parents are Holy Cross graduates. Growing up, I saw how strong and spirited the Holy Cross community was and I knew that was something I wanted to be part of. After I toured the campus, this was the only college I could picture myself attending and I think that was because everyone was so welcoming. Holy Cross offered me the opportunity to pursue a STEM career while also exploring other interests and participating in D1 athletics. Overall, I found everything I was looking for at HC!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I love Holy Cross and I really enjoy getting to share that with others. Becoming a tour guide has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and given me the chance to meet so many wonderful families.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Participating in the Maymester program was one of my favorite experiences at Holy Cross so far. I got to study the Holocaust in central Europe, traveling to eleven different cities in one month. I left the trip with transformed views of the world, as well as lifelong friends.

Career Program: Pre-Business
Co-Curricular Involvement: SPUD (Student Programs for Urban Development) at Nativity School of Worcester, Tour Guide Coordinator, Psychology Student Advising Committee, Senior Interviewer

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the incredible people and culture that radiated up, down, and all around the hills on campus. I decided to apply Early Decision only two weeks after my first visit to Holy Cross. I was then notified of my acceptance right before Christmas and it was truly the best present I could have received. I knew that Holy Cross would be supportive of my dreams and provide me with incredible people to guide me along the way; I was not wrong. I loved how Holy Cross emphasized the importance of being a well-rounded human being, who is aware of and takes responsibility for the world around her.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
As my first year progressed, and I made friends that pretty quickly turned into my family at Holy Cross, I knew I had a lot to be thankful for. I wanted to give back to the school in any way I could, and I felt being a tour guide and spreading my enthusiasm and energy for Holy Cross could really make a difference. I also know how much pressure it is being in high school, trying to figure out your next steps, and in general just navigating the college process. Every tour I give, I try to give a pep talk and remind the students that in the end what matters is the attitude you have and bring to the school you end up at, whether that is Holy Cross or not. I want to be an outlet for people visiting Holy Cross and show them a slice of what my incredible experience has been like thus far.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
At the end of a tour during my sophomore year, I was talking about the friends I have made at Holy Cross and how important they have been for my happiness and success so far. As I finished my final thought, my roommate ran up to me and said, "Mia, I'm running to class, but I know you were stressed today so I grabbed you your favorite sushi! Sorry for interrupting, I'll see you later" (California roll from Lower Kimball, of course). With that, she scampered off. My tour group all looked at me, smiling, and one mom asked, "Is that normal?" I smiled and said "I don't think I could have gotten better free advertisement for Holy Cross", and everyone laughed. I explained how lucky I was to have my roommate, and how genuinely thoughtful she is, and how we do little stuff like that for each other all the time. I will always remember that moment because it reminded me how blessed I am to have the people I do in my life, but also reminded me of my gratitude towards Holy Cross for putting them in my life!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Ultimately, my visit to campus led me to choose Holy Cross. Even though I toured in the pouring rain and my flight got canceled afterwards, I was still able to fall in love with the school. The sense of community at Holy Cross was unlike any other college, and I knew right away that I wanted to call this place home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
During my college visit process, the tour was the most influential part of the decision. Being a tour guide allows me to share my experiences so far and help prospective students decide whether Holy Cross is the right fit for them.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
During Fall Break, I attended the Finance Boot Camp which is sponsored by the Pre-Business Program at Holy Cross. Through this program, I was able to go to New York City for the first time and visit the different investment banks on Wall Street. Also, being able to meet alumni as a first year student and begin the networking process was an eye-opening experience and something I never realized I would be doing within my first few weeks on campus.

Co-Curricular Involvement: Kimball Captain, Feminist Forum, Senior Interviewer

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of its community. One of the things that stood out most to me when I first visited the campus was that my tour guide said hi to every student she passed and even shared stories about how she knew them. I remember thinking that it was amazing to see so many students who knew one another and cared enough to say hi. I even had the opportunity to talk to a couple of alumni when I visited and they told me about some of their experiences at Holy Cross. Everyone seemed so connected to each other and the college that it made me want to be a part of it too.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I wanted to share my experiences at Holy Cross with others. While at Holy Cross, I have met some of my best friends and gotten the opportunity to take part in some really exciting projects both in and outside of the classroom. Being a tour guide allows me to share with those that come to visit just how important my time here has been to me.

Co-Curricular Involvement: Club Field Hockey, S.P.U.D Big Brothers Big Sisters, CBL at Dress for Success Worcester, STEM + E Peer Tutor, Senior Interviewer

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for three main reasons - the students and the faculty I met seemed excited to be here and excited to learn, the campus was small enough where I felt at home, but big enough where I could see myself meeting a lot of different people, and when I visited for a tour everyone said hi and held the door for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I knew I wanted to apply to be a tour guide my first year because I remembered how important the tours I went on during my college search were. After an amazing first year, I felt becoming a tour guide would be a great way for me to give back and get involved in a program that really convinced me to make one of the best decisions of my life, which was to come to Holy Cross. Not to mention giving a tour every week here on The Hill is a great work out.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight for me each year here at Holy Cross is in May, Big Brothers Big Sisters puts on a field day where our "littles" can come to campus and see everything that we do. Their excitement for Kimball ice cream and the fish tank in Smith Labs really made me appreciate all of the little things Holy Cross does for us.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the College's renowned academics and dedication to the student body. The gorgeous campus and warm smiles were also a big part of my decision.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross is my home. I love every single inch of the school and I love telling others all about it. I just want to let everyone know how great my home really is!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far was the Odyssey Program, which is Holy Cross' first year orientation program for first year students who are first generation students, people of color, and/or students who are eligible for Pell Grants. This experience was great for me to bond with students before my school year even started, and now those who I did Odyssey with are some of my closest friends. Some it even feels like I've known for years!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was one of the first schools I visited and I know it sounds cliché, but once I stepped onto campus I knew it was a special place. I began looking at Holy Cross because it was a school that checked all of "the boxes" for me. I was looking for a small school in New England with a strong liberal arts curriculum, Division I sports, a lot of school spirit, and a tight-knit community. These were all aspects I knew I wanted to be included in my college experience and Holy Cross definitely stood out.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
After touring multiple schools in my junior and senior years of high school I knew I wanted to be a tour guide no matter where I ended up. I was fortunate enough to have two knowledgeable and outgoing tour guides when I toured Holy Cross both times. Additionally, my father began his career as a college admissions counselor and is currently a college counselor for high school students. His love for college admissions definitely rubbed off on me and I knew I wanted to volunteer for the Admission Office through any opportunity I received...and what better way to that than to be a tour guide!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight from my first year would be acting in my first musical - Into The Woods - at Holy Cross. I met some of my closest friends through that show and was welcomed into the fantastic theater community on campus. Other theater opportunities opened up for me due to my participation in that show such as being cast in an advanced directing piece and going to London to study different genres of theater through a Maymester program.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
During February break of my sophomore year, I visited Holy Cross for the first time. I went with my ma and my partner organization, La Vida Scholars. My tour guide Matt Wyman was very engaging and made Holy Cross memorable for me. What I loved most about my tour were the students on campus - they all seemed genuinely happy to be there and talk to us whenever we walked by, I sensed a great community between them. While walking around campus, the atmosphere of the school was amazing- I felt at home and I pictured starting my future here. Ever since that first tour Holy Cross has always been my first choice for college. In total, I’ve visited the school three times and every time my mind hasn’t changed.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I would like to be a person that makes Holy Cross memorable for other students. Also, showing that I come from a rough background and am a woman of color, I believe that I can show others that anyone can strive for success and accomplish great things. People like us attend rigorous institutions and change the world.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Not only did Holy Cross have the theatre and band programs I was looking for, but it also has the community I wanted. I knew that Holy Cross would challenge me, but also have the resources and people here to help me succeed. There is such a fantastic community both here on campus and in our alumni network. I knew that Holy Cross would always have my back.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I remember how intense the college search process was for me so being able to help make visitors' experiences here as informative and pleasant as possible makes me feel really great. I also love being able to reach out to potential theatre and band students and to tell them how awesome our programs are here...and sometimes, if I have time, to give them tours of those departments on campus.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I went on the summer Maymester trip to London my first summer here and it was a life changing experience. We stayed there for over a month and saw a show every night which amounted to 35 different pieces of London theatre. We also got to walk around London all day and go to art museums. I can honestly say it was the best trip of my life.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
In addition to the exceptional academics, alumni network and beautiful campus, what ultimately sold me on Holy Cross were the people. During my on campus visits, I felt so welcomed by the students and faculty and knew that the tight-knit community was the right fit for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross is truly a special place and I want other prospective students to have the same "wow factor" that I did with my first experience. I know how important a first impression is, and I felt this would be the perfect way to give back to the Holy Cross community.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The parents' weekend football tailgates have been my favorite annual Holy Cross experience. I love being able to show my family the people that have made Holy Cross my home away from home.

Co-Curricular Involvement: Head Resident Assistant in Williams Hall, Interdenominational Praise and Worship Leader, College Choir, Chamber Singers, Choir E-Board, Gateways Fall Orientation Leader, Music Department Student Advisory Committee

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Small enough that I would always see a familiar face on my way to class, but large enough that there would always be new people for me to meet, I could tell right away that Holy Cross was the perfect size for me. Beyond that though, the strong sense of community, firm commitment to social justice, and consistent emphasis on serving others was something that I felt at Holy Cross from the moment I stepped onto campus. These were all things that were incredibly important to me, and ultimately they were the reasons that I decided to spend these four years of my life at Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My school has been so good to me, and I love getting to share the love that I have for Holy Cross with other people. Being a tour guide has provided me with the unique opportunity to constantly meet prospective students and their families, and share the wonderful college experience that I have had with them. I also get the privilege of walking these families around the beautiful place that I get to call my home, and talking about the many great programs and opportunities that Holy Cross offers to its students, who have such a wide range of interests and passions.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
During spring break of my sophomore year, I was able to go on tour with the College Choir to New York City and Washington DC. My involvement in the College Choir and the Chamber Singers has been a huge highlight of my Holy Cross experience, and getting to tour with my fellow singers was something that I will remember forever. Choir has been a great way for me to meet other people that I would not have crossed paths with otherwise, as music majors and non-music majors alike can be a part of this program. I met a handful of my closest friends in this program where we work hard, have lots of fun, and make some really beautiful music.

Dan Barber '22

Hometown: Redford, MI
Email: djbarb22@g.holycross.edu
Majors: Music & Economics
Co-Curricular Involvement: Holy Cross Bands, Intramural Sports, Fall Break Immersion

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross met a number of qualities I was looking for in a college - rigorous academics, small class sizes, and a great Jesuit tradition. What set Holy Cross apart from other schools was the warm community I saw on my visit to campus. The student I shadowed was constantly introducing me to friends she ran into on the way to class, and professors knew all of their students by name. Holy Cross seemed like a place where I could feel at home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Speaking with current students is one of the best ways to learn about a school. Making a personal connection puts facts and statistics into context and gives meaning to what can be read on the website. I had a great experience meeting my tour guide and learning about what made Holy Cross special for him. My visit led me to apply and choose Holy Cross, and now I'm confident that it was the right choice for me. I wanted to become a tour guide so I could share my experience with students who are interested in learning about Holy Cross and help them find out if it is right for them, too.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I've seen some beautiful fall and winter days on Mount St. James, but nothing compares to the first day that felt like spring. The snow had melted earlier in the week but the chilly temperature had remained. On this day, however, the sun came out and the air began to feel different. By lunchtime, nearly every student on campus was outside enjoying an incredibly warm afternoon. My friends and I took the opportunity to play a game of frisbee on the Hoval while others read books on the grass or walked and talked with one another. It was a time when Holy Cross really felt like a family - we were all in a great mood and we were all celebrating together. The nice temperature didn't last long, but I'll never forget the high spirits of the student body.

Minors: Education & Deaf Studies
Co-Curricular Involvement: Big Brothers Big Sisters (SPUD), Community-Based Learning Volunteer at the Worcester Deaf Club and Nelson Place Elementary School (CBL), Co-Chair of the Psychology Student Advisory Committee, Intramural Sports

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
During my senior year of high school, I shadowed a current Holy Cross student for the day and felt a true sense of community and acceptance on campus. From this point on, I knew that I wanted to make Holy Cross my home away from home and I really liked the small class sizes, allowing students to form close relationships with professors and classmates. I also knew that I wanted to attend a school with rigorous academics and unique academic programs, such as the Deaf Studies and American Sign Language programs, and I now am a Deaf Studies Minor.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My tour guide at Holy Cross and the immediate sense of community I felt during my campus tour is something that will stay with me forever and is a large part of why I decided to come to Holy Cross and applied to become a tour guide. I feel that a tour guide should be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the school and all it offers while remaining honest about their experiences. The same welcoming feeling I felt when I toured Holy Cross for the first time is the same feeling I have each day in my classes, dorm, extra-curriculars, and dining hall. I want to share this same sense of warmth and true love for Holy Cross with prospective students and their families! I also have career aspirations of working in admissions on a college campus, so I feel that being a tour guide would be a great stepping stone to any potential admissions career.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
As a double minor in Education and Deaf Studies, one of my favorite experiences during my time at Holy Cross has been the Community-based learning component of my American Sign Language classes. I volunteered with the Worcester Deaf Club and served as an intern at Nelson Place Elementary School, having the opportunity to interact with deaf children and the deaf community as a whole. Through these experiences and the unique programs offered at Holy Cross, I was able to become immersed in the greater Worcester community and learn about deaf individuals and their experiences and culture.

Co-Curricular Involvement: College Choir, Chamber Music, Liturgical Music Ministry, SPUD: Big Brothers Big Sisters

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When I visited campus for the first time after my sophomore year of high school, I absolutely loved the campus. A small tight-knit campus community was important to me in choosing a college, and this defines Holy Cross. I loved the idea that anywhere I went, I would be able to see so many familiar faces. Everyone you meet, whether it is in a class or a club, is so welcoming and kind. Also, because I graduated from a Jesuit high school, the idea of attending a Jesuit college like Holy Cross was appealing to me. The value that Holy Cross places both on the importance of academics, as well as spirituality are two components that have been incredibly meaningful to me throughout my entire life.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
In taking a tour at Holy Cross, as well as attending Accepted Students Day, I was able to witness the enthusiasm and love that each and every student volunteer had for the school. I wanted to have the opportunity to be able to show prospective students and their families that same love for the school that I now possess ever since I became a Crusader.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Participating in Choir Week a week before school began has been one of my favorite Holy Cross experiences thus far. While learning the music for both the Mass of the Holy Spirit and Fall Convocation, the choir did other fun activities including a scavenger hunt in the city of Worcester and a movie night in Hogan Campus Center. It was a great way to meet new people, and so many of the individuals who participated in Choir Week are now my closest friends.

From the start, it was evident that Holy Cross is such a strong community and I loved how welcome I felt on campus. It was really clear to me that I would get an incredible education and also meet amazing people along the way.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I became a tour guide because I want to give prospective students the same enthusiastic and warm welcome that I received on my first trip to Holy Cross. The College has so many wonderful opportunities to offer, and I want to be able to share my experience with future Crusaders!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite day at Holy Cross was the day we returned to campus after Winter Break. After a month and a half of being away from my friends, it was so fun to finally come back to campus and see everyone again. I've always felt so welcome at Holy Cross, but it was this moment when it really felt like home.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of its liberal arts education and the Jesuit identity. A Jesuit education has allowed me to further develop my critical thinking skills. The wide range of classes I have taken so far at Holy Cross have given me the opportunity to engage, reflect, and make connections about different topics and ideas.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I wished to share my love and passion for the school with its visitors. By being a tour guide, I have had the chance to connect and meet people from all over the country. As I show them around campus, I enjoy teaching others about the school's amazing and fascinating history.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The Holy Cross vs. Boston College football game was an awesome experience because the Holy Cross community united together, and Alumni Stadium was filled with camaraderie.

One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences thus far has been gathering with other students in front of St. Joseph's Chapel to watch Fr. Mac bless Gracie, our campus police dog! It was a great opportunity to not only see Gracie, but also to bring together our Holy Cross community.

For me, Holy Cross was the college that had it all. HC offers rigorous academics, has dedicated and supportive professors, allows students to have a vibrant social life, and emphasizes the Jesuit philosophy of care for the whole person. I fell in love with the College the first time I visited campus and it continues to amaze me each day.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I LOVE Holy Cross and want to share my enthusiasm for HC with other people. I have had only positive experiences during my time here and want others to have a college experience as amazing as mine has been thus far. Holy Cross is truly a special place and I want to help other people see this.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far has been utilizing the Joyce Contemplative Center, HC's beautiful retreat facility located about 20 minutes away from campus. Holy Cross instantly stood out to me the first time I stepped on campus as I got an overwhelmingly warm feeling from the community. I could tell the students enjoyed being here and had formed lifelong connections. The large Classics department especially peaked my interest because of my passion for the Classics. After talking to many professors, I saw how invested they were in the students' success.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I greatly enjoy interacting with new people and have been working with admissions throughout my high school and now college career. Tour Guiding was a great way to blend the two together because I want to meet prospective students and share with them my experience at Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
In my first semester, I took "Hinduism" and "The Ethics of Silence". Both of these courses had many similarities in what we were learning which greatly shocked me. However, I found these cross-class connections to be very rewarding to notice.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was looking for three things in my college experience: great academics, great athletics, and a great alumni network. I felt as though Holy Cross offered all of these things, as well something more important that I hadn't previously considered: community. College is a place that you can call home for 4 years. I felt as though I could call Holy Cross my home for the next 40.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I felt like it would be a great opportunity to give back to the place that provided me with such a great opportunity for my education and my future.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I would have to say our football team's victory against Georgetown this past year was one of the highlights of not only the year, but one of the most memorable days of my life as well. It was almost as if I was in movie as we turned a very unlikely outcome into a reality.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was drawn to Holy Cross because of the strong sense of community. Each time I visited campus, I was amazed at how welcoming the students were and how willing they were to answer my questions. When I returned to campus for Admitted Students Day, each Holy Cross student I interacted with was so willing to make me feel welcomed and like a part of the community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Tour guides are someone’s first experience at a school, and I would love to be part of someone’s first Holy Cross experience. The Holy Cross community has given me so much in such a short amount of time, and being a tour guide is my way of paying it forward.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Although my first year was cut short due to COVID-19, it was still filled with many great memories and experiences. My favorite Holy Cross experience has been participating in the Communitas retreat, organized by the Chaplins’ office. This retreat was an incredible way to meet people across different class years and still feel connected to the Holy Cross community even though we were not on campus.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
My parents both came to Holy Cross, which allowed me to make some incredible memories as a child at their school. When it came time to decide where I would attend college I looked at Holy Cross, among others. It wasn’t until I visited campus and experienced the academic and social community here that I decided to come and I fell in love with Holy Cross for myself.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I decided to become a Tour Guide to have the opportunity to share what I love most about Holy Cross. I want to give prospective students the insight they need to decide if this school is right for them, as I’m confident it is for me.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences thus far is Spring Break Immersion. During spring break last year I got to share a week with a community much different from my own with several Holy Cross students I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to meet. I’ll always cherish the people and lessons that week brought me.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I excitedly chose Holy Cross for the overly welcoming, friendly, and positive environment the College had to offer. During all of my visits to The Hill, each student and faculty member I interacted with never failed to make me feel right at home. I also love the Jesuit mission of developing students to become men and women for and with others. Service and volunteering have always been of high importance in my life and I knew Holy Cross would provide me with countless opportunities to continue this work.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide not only to share my admiration of and appreciation towards Holy Cross, but also to be able to help prospective students make the very tough and life-changing decision of choosing where to attend college. I know from personal experience that college tours can often be a make or break part of the decision process so I am excited to do my best in representing the college in a positive light and sharing any knowledge and advice I have with students.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When choosing a school, I had three requirements. First, I wanted four seasons. Being that I am from Florida, I wanted to experience weather other than hot and humid. Holy Cross definitely fulfilled this requirement. Second, I wanted a liberal arts school. As a small liberal arts institution, Holy Cross allowed me to separate my interests from my passions. For example, I now know that I do not want to be a Biology major, but I still find it extremely interesting. And third, I loved the sense of community at Holy Cross. Before I attended Admitted Students Day, I was undecided about where I was going. But after I witnessed the enthusiasm of the students, I made my decision to go to Holy Cross. Plus it didn't hurt that my dad is an alumnus.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I decided to become a Tour Guide after spending a semester in the Admissions Outreach Program. In this role, I found that I was proud to be a student at Holy Cross and wanted to share my experiences with future Crusaders.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
So far, my favorite experience at Holy Cross has definitely been late night runs to the Lobby Shop and Cool Beans with my friends. These runs serve two purposes. First, they are a much-needed break from studying in the Mulledy Common Room. And second, it gives me an opportunity to satisfy cravings. However, my dining dollars do not appreciate these runs.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
My decision to attend Holy Cross was a combination of research and intuition. I had looked into the school before applying and knew it to be a prestigious institution, and when I stepped on campus I knew instinctively that I would enjoy my four years here. Holy Cross has given me lifelong friends, access to superb professors, and a network of supportive alumni; I am happy to call this school my home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Tour guides are the center of school spirit at Holy Cross. They are the first bridge between potential students and the school itself, and the impression they make on campus visitors is an integral part of the way the rest of the country, and even the world, sees this college. They are the representatives of the entire student body, and I am proud to be able to represent Holy Cross in this role.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
As a Weiss Summer Research Assistant, the Holy Cross Ignite Fund enabled me to travel to Washington DC to research at the Library of Congress, where I was able to go through the papers of a Supreme Court Justice. While the idea of organizing and funding a trip to DC seemed daunting at the beginning of Summer, with the help of professors, administrators, and an alumnus working at the Library of Congress, I was able to make this trip a reality. This experience was both academically enriching, as I was able to read through the notes of a Justice contemplating the great issues of this country, and it showed me the extent to which Holy Cross faculty and alumni support and help Holy Cross students.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because from the moment I stepped on campus, it felt like home. The small, tight-knit community is like no other, and I really could tell that students felt valued by each other and by their professors. Having such close relationships with faculty and staff if also something I was looking for, and Holy Cross is certainly somewhere where that’s the case. Everyone I’ve met has been so welcoming and has such a passion for all that they do, so I knew this was where I needed to be.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide so that I could share some of the things I love about my favorite place in this world with other people - I cannot say enough about how much I love Holy Cross, it’s the second home I never knew how badly I needed, and I can’t wait to let others know why!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
So far, one of my favorite Holy Cross experiences has been right when the weather turns from winter to spring, and EVERYONE is outside. I love nothing more than walking past the Hoval seeing people playing frisbee, and going for runs through the surrounding neighborhoods with my teammates to then come back and just enjoy the sunshine on the Hill.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
During my initial visit to Holy Cross, I was impressed by the campus community. It felt like home. The campus is beautiful and the people are warm and accepting. The academic offerings at Holy Cross allow me to be well-rounded. As a science major, I also wanted the opportunity to study the liberal arts. The small class sizes were also a major factor in my decision to attend Holy Cross. Additionally, the alumni network is amazing.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I love Holy Cross and I also love to talk. Being a tour guide allows me to combine both of these passions.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The Spring Break Immersion Program is by far the best experience I have had at Holy Cross. It has given me the opportunity to travel to new places and become part of new communities. I also met groups of Holy Cross students that I never would have met had I not gone on the trips.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because the second I stepped onto campus I knew it was home. Aside from the spectacular reputation and challenging academics, Holy Cross offered me a tight knit community of caring professors and kind students. Coming from a very small, all girls high school I felt that Holy Cross was the perfect size. The individual attention and smaller class sizes create a productive academic environment that truly encourages growth and exploration.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
The moment I knew I wanted to be a tour guide was when I was walking to class one afternoon and saw a tour going on. I wanted to jump in and answer any questions and share my experiences thus far. I love Holy Cross so much and want to share my Holy Cross pride with prospective students and parents.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
By far one of the best Holy Cross experiences I have had thus far was on my birthday. It was the first time I had ever been away from home on that day, but my brand new friends made it one of the most memorable birthdays I have ever had. My roommates took me out to dinner at The Fix, all while a bunch of my friends planned a surprise party back in the Brooks-Mulledy common room. When my roommates and I returned to campus and walked into our dorm, all of my friends jumped up and yelled "Surprise!" They had decorated with a banner, they made a cake, and they all pitched in to buy me a little gift from the bookstore. The kindness, thought, and care that went into this gesture blew me away. This small action, I feel, is indicative of the entire Holy Cross community. We are kind, thoughtful, and care deeply about one another. Choosing to attend Holy Cross was by far the best decision I have ever made.

I knew from the moment that I stepped out of the car for the first time that Holy Cross was the place for me. There is an overwhelming sense of community and tradition that is unique to Holy Cross. Whether it was the greeter in the Admission Office, the senior who interviewed me, or the student who gave my campus tour, I felt that they all took a genuine interest in me and allowed my insight to the community. Holy Cross is a community that you are a part of forever.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I believe that a tour guide is an integral part of a prospective student's first impression of campus and student life on The Hill. Looking back to my first time visiting Holy Cross, I remember how welcoming and helpful my tour guides were.

A highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far has been able to continue my participation as a baton twirler with a marching band. I love getting to be apart of the games as a member of the Crusader Pep Band. I also love the tight knit school community because it strengthens the camaraderie amongst students and allows for a deeper, more meaningful educational experience. Lastly, I love the flexibility and diversity the education here has given me.

I wanted to become a part of this community that was so proud of their school and so excited to welcome me into it. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
From the moment I stepped onto Mount St. James I felt immersed in an undeniably strong community. Holy Cross is a campus full of friendly faces, students, professors, and faculty. There is something so powerful about being surrounded by people who never fail to both challenge and support you. Further, Holy Cross academics are more than just classes. Holy Cross classes are connected to the real-world, and rooted in the Jesuit ideal of "cura-personalis" a unique approach to teaching that allows students to live what they learn, to develop themselves as whole people. For me, there is no other place where you truly can have the best of all worlds. An amazing campus with a special community, engaging, and invigorating academics, and an environment that encourages you to be all that you can be in the best light possible.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I talk about Holy Cross all the time. I am passionate about where I go to school and I love sharing my College with others! I hope I can give those on my tour a glimpse into how special of a place Holy Cross is!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite Holy Cross experience has been my Montserrat class, Exploring Differences. During this class I was introduced to topics that I had never understood or studied in high school. Additionally, because of the uniqueness of the Montserrat program I was able to meet some of my best friends, not only did we have class together, but we lived on the same floor! I had such a wonderful Professor who helped us during our transition into Our first year in college and equipped us with tools and challenging ideas to take with us into our following three years.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because I wanted to be a part of a tight-knit academic community that values service. The prospect of leaving Arizona (where I had lived for my entire life) to study in Massachusetts was very intimidating at first, but as soon as I set foot on campus the tour guide, Admission staff, and everyone I ran into on campus made me feel like Mount St. James was I place I could call home. I also wasn't sure what I wanted to study, so the liberal arts approach and small classes were perfect for me to explore my interests and consult professors before deciding on a major. Now that I'm a student, I can say with certainty that I made the right decision. I will always be a proud Holy Cross Crusader!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
When I visited campus in the summer of 2016 my tour experience was very important in my decision to attend Holy Cross. Everyone I met on campus was friendly and welcoming and my tour guide was excited to share everything they know and love about Holy Cross. I decided to become a tour guide so I can provide a similarly positive experience for prospective students and their families. I love taking every opportunity I can to show off the campus and share with visitors everything that Holy Cross has to offer.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences so far was studying abroad in London. I lived in Southwark (just south of the Thames and a few Tube stops away from Westminster) and studied at the London School of Economics in Central London. It was surreal walking across the Thames every day to go to lectures and classes. One other Holy Cross student was in my program and we became very good friends. I also made a lot of amazing friends from the United States and all around the world. Studying abroad allowed me to be an ambassador for Holy Cross and to pursue my major in a new way. While I loved my experience, I also missed Holy Cross and my friends on the hill and I look forward to returning to Holy Cross for my senior year.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was my favorite school for many reasons! One of those reasons was its size. HC is the perfect size for me because it is small enough that I am able to form relationships with professors and see familiar faces around campus often, but also big enough that there are always opportunities to meet new people. I was also excited by the wide variety of academic programs offered through the liberal arts education because as a first year student, I had not yet decided what my major should be. As an athlete, I liked that I could be a part of a Division I program while still being encouraged to focus on academics and take part in all that the campus has to offer.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide to share my excitement for Holy Cross with prospective students. When I toured Holy Cross, I felt so at home for the first time in my college search and I hope that the students that tour with me feel the same!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The major highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far has been making memories with all of the people who have become my second family here on campus. After spending countless nights on Wheeler 3 with my roommates, running to Kimball Dining Hall after practice with my teammates, and always finding new places all over campus to study with my classmates, the people here are what have made my time at Holy Cross so unforgettable.

I chose to attend Holy Cross because of the rigorous academics, strong community presence, and the size of the school. When I first visited Holy Cross, I was amazed at how everyone seemed like they knew each other. Every person we walked past, my tour guide said hi to. Holy Cross really captured my academic interest early on in the college process, but after visiting the school I fell in love with the social aspects too. Holy Cross has been a perfect place for me to grow as a student and person ever since I stepped foot on campus.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I chose to be a tour guide to help perspective students choose the best college for them. I love Holy Cross, and being a tour guide means showing people how wonderful our campus is. I wanted to be apart of showing off Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite experience was probably the very first day on campus when my parents and I moved me into my first year residence hall. As we pulled up, about thirty students descended on our car, welcomed my family, and brought all of my stuff up to my room. This experience really made me feel apart of the Holy Cross community the first day I stepped on campus and I look back on that with very fond memories.

I chose Holy Cross because of the amazing people here. Every time I toured campus, I was met with another friendly face who was not only willing to talk to me but excited to do so. After my second tour, I met a senior who talked to me about all things Holy Cross; she was not my tour guide, but just someone I ran into while walking across campus. She did not need to spend so much time talking with me, but she wanted to. After leaving that day, we kept in touch and I ultimately told her when I got accepted. I quickly realized that this passion and kindness was completely unique and special to Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
While taking tours, I always put myself in the tour guides’ shoes, trying to fully grasp what it would be like to attend that particular school. My tour guides at Holy Cross were personable and so genuinely excited about their time on campus, causing me to fall in love with the school even more. So, I wanted to be this face for prospective students and help them fall in love with the school that has given me so much.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The first warm day on campus this past spring has to be my favorite memory. Seeing everyone outside enjoying the sunshine gave campus such a happy and inviting feeling, even more so than usual. It was the perfect refresh after a cold winter and a kick start to the stretch until summer.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because it has the best everything -- the best people, the best faculty, and the best views!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My first time at Holy Cross was on a tour and my Tour Guide was so friendly, personable, and knowledgeable, which is what made me think more about Holy Cross! Plus, being a Tour Guide gives me an excuse to talk about Holy Cross even more before I graduate!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite day of the year is the last Thursday of the Fall Semester, when the Office of the College Chaplains and the Department of Music co-sponsor the Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols. It is a great way to de-stress before finals and get into the Christmas spirit with family and friends!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
My father is an alum of the school and his passion for Holy Cross, his close and lasting friendships with his classmates, and the friendly exchanges he has with other alums in grocery stores or at the beach are some of the many reasons why I decided to apply to Holy Cross. However, my decision to attend was further influenced by the school’s size, commitment to the Jesuit ideals of community engagement, social justice, and asking questions, liberal arts curriculum, and emphasis on classroom collaboration rather than competition. Holy Cross seemed to check off every box on my list. But more importantly, I immediately felt like I was part of the campus community when I arrived for my interview. Thinking that I knew my way around campus from past informal visits, my dad dropped me off at Hogan 3. As I stumbled my way through the building, students could tell I was lost and directed me to the Hoval exit. When I reached the doors, a student held them open for me and smiled. While I walked, I pictured myself as a student walking to class and it just felt right. I felt welcome and accepted the minute I stepped on campus.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a Tour Guide because I love sharing my passion with other people and I am extremely passionate about my experience at Holy Cross. Through the position, I have also been able to learn more about other academic programs and co-curricular activities that I am not a part of myself. In addition, my campus visits increased my desire to attend Holy Cross since I saw first-hand the enthusiasm students have for the school and the maturity they learn and develop. In consequence, I wanted to pay it forward, to serve as the welcoming, friendly, and courteous student presence prospective students encounter while deciding if Holy Cross is the right fit.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences was going out to dinner with one of my history professor's and friend who had the same professor but for a different course. It was such a unique opportunity to discuss what we had learned from the same person but in a different setting and to talk about the interconnectedness and differences between my friend's course on the history of medicine and my course on colonial America. I also appreciated the ability to talk with my professor outside both the classroom and office hours settings. This dinner reaffirmed my notion that Holy Cross professors genuinely care about their students as people.

I wanted to become a tour guide because I want to show others the school that I love so much. Everyone falls in love with Holy Cross in a different way but I would love to share my story with those who are seeking to make their own.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences at Holy Cross thus far is returning to campus following winter or summer break. The first week of school is so exciting and filled with hugs, “how was your break” and “I miss you”s and it truly makes you feel at home.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?  I visited Holy Cross four times and each time I stepped on campus the sense of community only felt stronger. One of my visits included an Spring Overnight and that was the moment I made my final decision that I wanted to come to Holy Cross. My host was wonderful. She was so welcoming and showed me so many things and also explained how much Holy Cross offers. The other very appealing aspect is the incredibly strong alumni network. During my visits to Holy Cross I heard many stories about how invested the alumni network is as a whole, with their willingness to help Holy Cross students land internships and jobs. This is important to me and it made me really want to become part of the tight-knit community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?  When I was visiting colleges, the institutions that stood out were the ones where the tour guides were open, genuine, and vulnerable. This type of experience is something a prospective student cannot obtain from a website or a booklet. It is only made possible through a tour with an energetic and personable student who engages the visitors with funny, comforting, and inspiring stories. I want to create that type of experience for prospective students.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross checked all of my boxes! The school was close to home, but it wasn’t close enough for my parents to come visit me every week. As I was applying to colleges, money was a huge factor in my decision making. Holy Cross gave me a lot of scholarship money and made sure that I’d be able to afford to come. I also grew up in small schools and wanted a college that had a close knit community where professors would know who I am.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
When I was going on tours my junior year of high school, I always relied on the tours of each school. When I toured at Holy Cross, it was pouring out, but my tour guide still made me see the beauty in the school. Not only did they inform me of all the great things about the liberal art college, they made me see myself walking this campus and being here the next four years. I want to be able to do the same for other potential students and make a difference in their decision making when choosing a college for their next chapter in life.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences so far is participating in SPUD. Every week I went to the Friendly House and volunteered to mentor students from low income families around the community. I formed a lot of close relations with the kids and it always brightened my day whenever I saw how excited they got when I arrived at the Friendly House.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences at Holy Cross is my first year convocation. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
There is no doubt that the first thing you notice when arriving on campus is the sheer beauty of it. Of course, this is the first impression I got as well. Holy Cross is far more than just a beautiful campus though. The academic reputation and sense of community, both current students and alumni, are what really persuaded me to attend Holy Cross. The pure enjoyment and happiness that you see is contagious and I couldn't help but be a part of it.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide to share my amazing experiences and love for Holy Cross with prospective students. A tour guide can help students greatly and I definitely experienced this first hand. I want to be able to share everything that Holy Cross has to offer and help students in the often daunting college decision process.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite experience at Holy Cross has been participating in a mentoring program at Plumley Village through SPUD. Engaging with the Worcester community has been quite fulfilling and something I would look forward to each week. The happiness within the kids I worked with provided such a great experience as well as a great way to break up the studying during the week.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I choose to become a tour guide because Holy Cross has given so much to me and I am passionate about sharing that with others. As much as you can learn from the website and certain statistics I think talking to the students is the only way to truly get a feel for a school.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite Holy Cross experience thus far was participating in the first J-mester program where I got to spend my winter break in Manchester, New Hampshire meeting the presidential candidates and learning more about the election process.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was looking for a smaller school that had a strong community feel. When I was on an admitted student visit with a host, I actually fell on the steps of Dinand Library in front of the whole Holy Cross community! When I finally got up and was very embarrassed, Holy Cross students were picking up my belongings for me and making sure that I was alright. It was that experience that really showed me the caring, community feeling that Holy Cross fosters. I knew from that moment on that I would definitely be attending Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Since I had so many positive experiences at Holy Cross throughout the college admission process, I think it's really important for me to give that experience to other prospective students in the best way that I can. I want students and families to have the same amazing experience as I did and I believe that all starts on a campus tour!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
My mom (class of '92!) necessitated a stop by Holy Cross on our way back from another college tour and since I was thirsty, I got out of the car to find a water fountain. The campus was so pristine I went back for a tour and decided I loved the idea of a small city school. I wanted to come to a place where my ideas would be challenged and I thought Holy Cross would have a good blend of political beliefs and backgrounds- I was right! I couldn't have picked a better place to grow and learn.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Tour guides can really make or break the first impression of a school. Working with Admissions makes me feel like I'm giving back to the community I love and helping shape the next generation of men and women for and with others.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Ah! Impossible to pick just one. A few stand out: a gals trip to Spain while studying abroad in Ireland, KanJam outside of Healy, the Black Student Union (BSU) Fashion Show my first year, and sharing life with leprosy patients in India during a Maymester.

Ever since I first visited Holy Cross, it felt like home. The sense of a small community allowed me to feel like I belonged to HC.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I want other students to know that everything is possible. A year ago somewhere like Holy Cross seemed unreal to me. So many people told me that college in the US was not even an option for me. As a tour guide, I want to make sure that no student feels that way. I want them to know that hard work and perseverance are critical and Holy Cross requires that. Furthermore, I hope to show why this place has changed my life.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I was part of our immersion trip to Camden, NJ during the spring. It was one of the most challenging and enriching experiences I ever had. We were able to be part of the realities of so many other people outside the Hill. Most importantly, we left Camden with infinite energy to continue impacting our communities.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Apart from the academic prestige associated with the college, I chose to attend Holy Cross for several reasons. Primarily, the community surrounding Holy Cross is unlike no other. The bond that is formed both among the students and between the faculty and the students is something that I feel is unique to Holy Cross. Everyone is truly looking out for each other at all times and the faculty are always willing to help you with whatever you need. Next, the campus is absolutely stunning regardless of the weather. Even on gloomy days, Holy Cross still manages to look beautiful. Lastly, Holy Cross felt like home from the minute I stepped on campus. Everyone is so welcoming and truly wants you to join the community which was very different from many of my college tours.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide to showcase our incredible school and allow other people to witness our community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My experience in Beards Fork, West Virginia as part of the Spring Break Immersion Program is definitely one of the highlights of my Holy Cross experience. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross? Imagine walking down the road of a place you have never been before, but still feeling like you are home. Imagine meeting one hundred strangers in the time span of a few hours, and already feeling as though you made one hundred new friends. This was my experience when I first came to Holy Cross to visit, and it is still how I feel about this place after a year full of education and never ending adventures. Not only does this school check off the boxes for academic programs, study abroad, extracurricular opportunities, alumni network, financial aid and more, but it is also a tight-knit community that accepts everyone and encourages you to challenge and discover who you want to be. That is what is so special about Holy Cross. You might be able to find an education anywhere, but it is a lot harder to find a school that helps you grow as both a student and a person, while feeling like family. As hard as it is to find, that is what I was looking for when searching for colleges, and as soon as I was on the campus, I knew Holy Cross was going to be that second home for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide? One of the first people I met at Holy Cross was my tour guide when I visited the school in 2017. Her name was Kathleen, and she was incredibly funny, outgoing, and welcoming to all of the students on the tour. Since it was my first time here and I was in the midst of visiting many different schools, Kathleen became the face of Holy Cross to me. She was the way I remembered the school, along with the many friendly smiling faces and strangers holding doors, a long time after my first visit. I am hoping, by becoming a tour guide, that I am able to have a similar impact on the many students who walk through our campus, with a feeling that Holy Cross is not only an excellent institution but also a home away from home.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far? One of my favorite experiences of being at Holy Cross has been my Montserrat seminar during my first year. I knew I wanted to be on the Pre-Med track, so I was incredibly focused on all of my science courses going into the school year. However, this religion/social justice based seminar opened my eyes to see the importance of understanding people's struggles if I want to become a health professional. Throughout the course, my classmates, professor, and I formed a tight-knit bond that still exists today. And ultimately, I was motivated to become a Religious Studies major.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
After participating in the Visions overnight program, I knew that Holy Cross was the place for me! I was able to see the emphasis that Holy Cross places on being a well-rounded individual. I knew that Holy Cross’s rigorous environment would test my capabilities, that its multitude of courses would allow me to explore and grow. Along with this, I knew that a Jesuit education would allow me to become closer to myself and those around me. The best thing about it all is that Holy Cross accepts and supports students from all faiths and backgrounds. One doesn’t have to be Catholic to be a spiritual person and reflect on life. Our Jesuit education embraces all of our differences and helps us come together to understand one another. Holy Cross offers everything that I could ever want in a college!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
If it weren’t for the students that volunteered as tour guides and overnight hosts around a year ago, I probably wouldn’t be a student at this institution and be the person who I am today. I would be honored to even be the slightest part of the reason that someone chooses to become a Crusader. I do it because someone did it for me and I want to pay it forward in any and every way possible.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Going to Colorado through the Spring Break Immersion Program has been the best experience I’ve had at Holy Cross thus far! I was able to spend a week with other Crusaders I hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting until then. We all bonded over our experience of learning and helping out a community during this break. We had a ton of talks, laughs, and other fun memories that will stay with us forever. It was an incredible experience which I’ll continue to build upon with other immersion trips throughout my college career!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I went to a Jesuit High school and fell in love with the values and experiences that came with a Jesuit education. I felt that Holy Cross fit those values, but I could tell they went above and beyond. I loved the way that education at holy cross is not just restricted to the classroom, I felt that I would be educated as a whole person. This was reflected in both my admissions process and the community which I experienced when visiting campus. I immediately knew that I would come out of my four years with much more than a diploma.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross quickly became a home to me after my first semester on campus, and the students are what make the community so amazing. I wanted to both share the community with others and help be a part of its growth.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My Spring Break Immersion to Camden, New Jersey was definitely my favorite experience at Holy Cross so far. I was able to become involved with the amazing community in Camden and create relationships with Holy Cross students who I otherwise may have never known!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross for its values, community, and connections. The concept of ‘cura personalis’, or “care of the whole person”, is promoted in all facets of life at the College. This concept resonated with me as I believe college education is more than just receiving a degree. It is the growth of every aspect of oneself: emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and academically. From the friendly faces to beautiful buildings, I fell in love with Holy Cross the moment I stepped foot on campus. Watching people hold the door for others and say hi to one another immediately made me feel the unity and community of the school. I instantly knew that Holy Cross was a community I wanted to be a part of. I also have a few family members, including my mom, who are alumni. The love that each them still holds towards Holy Cross assured me that it is not just a place you love for four years but for the rest of your life. I was excited and eager to be a part of that love and community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Something that helped confirm my desire to attend Holy Cross was the great tour that I went on. While the tour was going on, one of my tour guide’s friends ran into her and decided to jump in and give the tour with her! It was so awesome to see in practice that every student at Holy Cross, even if they aren’t a tour guide, loves it. I want to be able to share my love for the school with prospective students. It is my hope to give them the same feelings of community, love, and belonging that I had when I went on my tour.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences at Holy Cross was being able to study abroad in Scotland at the University of St Andrews. In my Freshmen year I was apprehensive about studying abroad. I told myself that I chose to go to Holy Cross, so why would I want to spend a year away from it? Of course, at the end of my second year I decided to take the leap and study at St Andrews with 18 other HC students. I am so thankful for this opportunity. I learned that studying in a different country does not take away from your Holy Cross journey- it adds to it! I was able to get close to many students who I hadn’t gotten to know yet at Holy Cross, and now I cannot imagine my college experience without them. I’m so excited to bring back all of the things I learned in Scotland and continue my relationships with those who were there with me. I am extremely thankful and forever grateful for the opportunity to study abroad that Holy Cross provided me with.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I wanted a small school with a strong community and Holy Cross is just that. I felt an immediate connection when I stepped on campus and everyone I talked to was so warm and welcoming. I knew it was a place where I could truly explore all of my interests and grow as an academic, as well as a person. While I consider myself a fairly indecisive person, choosing Holy Cross was one of the easiest (and best!) decisions I've ever made.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I've found a second home at Holy Cross. Despite being from Wisconsin, I've rarely ever felt homesick. I want to share what I love about my second home with prospective students. Choosing where to attend college can be such a daunting choice and I want to help with that decision. I had such a great tour experience at Holy Cross and I want other students to have just as great of an introduction to the college as I did.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I absolutely loved my Montserrat class! My entire class got so close and comfortable with each other throughout the year. My professor was so good at making us feel welcome at the college. We were able to foster such great conversations and really dove into the content of the class. We also attended a concert, workshops, went on walks, and participated in other group activities that really enhanced the class experience. That class helped me understand what a liberal arts education really is and made me truly feel apart of the Holy Cross community!

My favorite experience at Holy Cross was after the Spring Concert last year, when there were food trucks outside on the Hoval. It felt like the entire school was there, and in that moment it was so evident how strong our campus community is.

I chose Holy Cross because it allows me to be successful in both academics and athletics, the size of the school is perfect for the type of student I am, and for the opportunities this school gives me both on campus and off campus.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Growing up overseas, I hadn't had a lot of exposure to college campuses in the U.S. I will never forget the impact my tour at Holy Cross had on my decision to come here. Immediately after tour Holy Cross, I decided to apply here...and only here. I hope as a tour guide I can potentially have the same affect on other students looking to find the right fit school for themselves.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I will never forget what it felt like to get welcomed into my Cross Country team as a first year student. I felt like I became part of a family the moment I became part of this team. As soon as I was welcomed into my team's family, I was welcomed into an even larger family, the Holy Cross community.

While the quality of the academics, success of the graduates, and many other factors were all certainly important in my decision, what put it over the top was the type of people I had encountered who were either alumni of or students at Holy Cross. The quality of these people made it clear to me that the community you hear discussed so often is both real and incredibly strong.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I've loved my time at Holy Cross and understand how influential your guide can be when deciding between schools. I'm hoping that with this position I'll be able to show everyone the many things that Holy Cross has to offer in a way that really lets the students know what the school is all about.

I have been involved in Admissions ever since my time at Holy Cross began, and I considered becoming a Tour Guide to be an excellent way to express my school pride. Attending Holy Cross has truly changed my life, and I wanted the opportunity to share my stories and experiences with those considering the College.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Though I have had countless experiences on Mount Saint James, my favorite Holy Cross experience was actually traveling to Ivanhoe, Virginia in March 2020 with the Spring Break Immersion Program. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?  I chose Holy Cross for endless reasons, such as the stellar reputation, job opportunities, the location, and the small class sizes. However, one of the most prominent reasons I chose Holy Cross was the emphasize Holy Cross places on developing students as a whole person. One of the most important values of a Jesuit education is creating men and women for others and this is something that really resonated with me when I was choosing a college. I appreciated how Holy Cross provided students with the tools for academic success but also prepared students to help others and be there for others. I think that Holy Cross does a really good job of providing students with all of these opportunities to be men and women for others, through SPUD, Spring Break Immersion trips, and also student groups on campus such as COPE. When I was choosing a school I wanted to go somewhere students cared about their community and cared for each other and Holy Cross was this place.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?  There are numerous reasons as to why I wanted to become a tour guide. One of the reasons was because I thoroughly enjoyed working in the Admissions Office my first year as a Greeter, where I had the opportunity to meet new people and share my experiences at Holy Cross with prospective students. I also just love Holy Cross. I want to show prospective students what a great school community we have here. I want to be able to answer any questions and tell them about all the opportunities that Holy Cross has to offer.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?  One highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far would be attending the late night breakfast in Kimball Dining Hall leading up to winter finals. What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
This past March, we were lucky enough to have composer Tania Leon come to campus. She gave a guest lecture in my music theory class, and also worked with both the band and the choir before we performed a selection of her work later that evening. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because of the amazing community that we have on campus. The second I got here for my tour back in my junior year, I immediately felt like I belonged and found the place I wanted to call home. The professors here genuinely want to know about you and your passions, interests, and life, rather than just seeing you as just a name or number. The students here look out for one another, and we support each other in all of our endeavors. I couldn’t have picked a better school values my personal talents and allows me to share them with the world and our Holy Cross community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I want to become a Tour Guide because I want to have an impact on prospective families and students visits to campus. I remember how influential the tour guides were in my decision to attend HC and I want to have the ability to make other students as passionate about Holy Cross as I am. Also, I am a very social and outgoing person, so being a tour guide would give me the opportunity to chat with families and share everything I love about this amazing community!!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite HC memories has to be the first tailgate I went to in the fall of 2019. It was the end of the crazy first week of being a first year student, and I had always heard about how fun the tailgates were from my friends who were upperclassmen. I remember walking down and overlooking Freshman Field to see rows upon rows of cars lined up along the grass, and I was so excited. The entire morning was a blast, seeing so many HC alumni coming out and supporting their alma mater with their families. It really showed me how amazing the community was at HC and how supportive we all are of each other!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
The moment when I first stepped onto the Holy Cross campus, I knew that this would be the school for me. I had never heard of Holy Cross before touring, but I knew that I wanted a small, Catholic, liberal arts school and Holy Cross checked all the boxes. Not only that, the smiling faces and warm welcomes truly made me feel like I was already apart of the community, and I knew from that moment on that I had found my home for the next four years.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Being a volunteer in the admissions office and a summer and fall orientation leader, I have had the opportunities to interact with prospective students and parents to help make their transition to college life easier. I have loved everything I have done so far on campus and being a tour guide is another way to help new students navigate Holy Cross, as well as give back to the campus that has given me so much.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Of everything that I have done so far on campus, being a Summer Orientation Leader definitely sticks out as my favorite Holy Cross experience. The opportunity to welcome a new class of students to the hill and the memories that I made with my fellow OLs are ones that I would never trade as they highlight how much Holy Cross cares for its students, both current and new!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I initially considered Holy Cross because it met the general criteria that I was looking for - small, liberal arts, proximity to my hometown - but ultimately chose to attend because of the Jesuit educational experience and the people. When I visited campus to shadow a student, I was struck by the sense of belonging that I received from students and professors alike who were genuinely interested in talking to me and making me feel comfortable. This experience highlighted Holy Cross students’ innate curiosity, kindness, and ability to form a strong community, which I am grateful to be a part of today.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide so I could help other families and high school students learn about Holy Cross and whether it is the right fit for them. When I was in their shoes, I really appreciated the time and effort that tour guides took to answer questions, and I know their attitudes impacted the way that I viewed each school. I remember my Holy Cross tour guides being very enthusiastic about life on the hill and I hope to be able to represent the school in the same manner!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
In July of my senior year of high school, I attended the Summer Research Tour which highlighed student's research projects. The experience of seeing the opportunities students were given at Holy Cross not only engaged me but motivated me to apply Early Decision. Afterwards, my experience with the History department when visiting campus was incredibly positive. Admissions saw my interest in the subject even before applying and set me up with a student who could share their experience and help me envision myself on campus. This personalized touch made Holy Cross stand out to me as other colleges I visited seemed more focused around statistics.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My experience at Holy Cross has already been filled with some of the best moments of my life. I remember how stressful the college process can be, and I joined Admissions as a Greeter to provide a relatable experience to prospective students and urge them to seriously consider Holy Cross. This combined with my adoration for our campus at all times of the year are why I jumped at the opportunity to become a Tour Guide.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Montserrat was an incredibly positive experience for me. My cluster events helped me meet members of my class right away who were interested in similar things, and those connections were also tied to my residence hall. Going random worried me, but the Program enables first year students to meet students right away and begin to feel acclimated to a very new environment. Also, my Montserrat seminar provided me with one course which I always felt excited to attend, with students that were all going through similar experiences as I was.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy cross for two main reasons: the academic opportunities and the strong sense of community. With an average class size of nineteen, I wanted the opportunity to connect with professors and peers while engaging deeply with course material. I believe the liberal arts education creates not only a well-rounded education, but also a well-rounded individual who can pursue any career after graduation. Additionally, I felt an overwhelming sense of camaraderie the many times I visited campus prior to applying. I wanted to attend an institution where I was more than just a number but rather a member of a community that truly cares about one another.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I believe a tour guide is an integral part of a prospective student’s first impression of a college campus. It was my tour guide who was instrumental in my decision to attend Holy Cross. I aspired to share all the great experiences I’ve had and be an influential component to their college decision. As “men and women for and with others,” I wanted the experience of giving back to my community that has provided me with so many great memories.

I chose Holy Cross because the people here are so kind and genuine. Even though it is a rigorous school, having great people around makes it easier. Also, the school works very hard on diversity and it shows. There are plenty of outlets to find people from the same background as you and to learn about other people. Everyone is here to learn, not just academically, but also socially and culturally. The people are what make Holy Cross the great place that it is. I've learned so much in just the past year and I am so grateful.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?

I wanted to become a tour guide because of the impact that guides had on me. I want to make sure that everyone touring Holy Cross has a positive experience and can see themselves belonging at this school just as I did.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my Holy Cross experience so far was the Community-Based Learning part of my Educational Psychology class. I loved being able to go into Worcester and tutor elementary school kids because it allowed me to further immerse myself in Worcester and to learn through real life experiences.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for a variety of reasons. One of the biggest reasons why, on top of amazing the quality of academics are here, is a sense of community I did not see anywhere else. The community at Holy Cross is the best you will find at any school. Everyone here is accepting and regardless of a person's background you will be accepted with open arms into the Holy Cross community. As a Jewish student at Holy Cross, I've always felt like I'm part of the community and I've never felt like I didn't belong. Holy Cross is a special place filled with amazing people and top notch professors.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become tour guide because ever since I've gotten on campus I always wanted to share how amazing my experiences have been so far at Holy Cross. And what better way to do that than becoming a tour guide and showing prospective families and students the wonderful campus of Holy Cross. I want to introduce people to the beautiful campus we have, and make them feel welcomed and already part of the Holy Cross community!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my first year had to be Battle of the Bands in front of Kimball dining hall. That was my first ever time playing bass in front of a crowd and my first ever performance in a band outside of organized bands. It was amazing to be with my friends playing music that we loved and having an amazing time on a perfect spring day.
