Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the College's renowned academics and dedication to the student body. The gorgeous campus and warm smiles were also a big part of my decision.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross is my home. I love every single inch of the school and I love telling others all about it. I just want to let everyone know how great my home really is!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far was the Odyssey Program, which is Holy Cross' freshman orientation program for first year students who are first generation students, people of color, and/or students who are eligible for Pell Grants. This experience was great for me to bond with students before my school year even started, and now those who I did Odyssey with are some of my closest friends. Some it even feels like I've known for years!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was one of the first schools I visited and I know it sounds cliché, but once I stepped onto campus I knew it was a special place. I began looking at Holy Cross because it was a school that checked all of "the boxes" for me. I was looking for a small school in New England with a strong liberal arts curriculum, Division I sports, a lot of school spirit, and a tight-knit community. These were all aspects I knew I wanted to be included in my college experience and Holy Cross definitely stood out.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
After touring multiple schools in my junior and senior years of high school I knew I wanted to be a tour guide no matter where I ended up. I was fortunate enough to have two knowledgeable and outgoing tour guides when I toured Holy Cross both times. Additionally, my father began his career as a college admissions counselor and is currently a college counselor for high school students. His love for college admissions definitely rubbed off on me and I knew I wanted to volunteer for the Admission Office through any opportunity I received...and what better way to that than to be a tour guide!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight from my first year would be acting in my first musical - Into The Woods - at Holy Cross. I met some of my closest friends through that show and was welcomed into the fantastic theater community on campus. Other theater opportunities opened up for me due to my participation in that show such as being cast in an advanced directing piece and going to London to study different genres of theater through a Maymester program.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When looking at colleges, Holy Cross was the school that had everything I was looking for: a small liberal arts college with strong relationships between students and professors, along with lots of school pride. When I visited, I fell in love with the campus, sense of community, and great opportunities that Holy Cross provides. All of this ultimately led to my decision to choose HC.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide in order to share my passion for Holy Cross with prospective students. We have a unique and strong community that provides a multitude of opportunities, strong academics, and lifelong friendships and connections. I want those who visit to really have a good understanding of our community and have a positive experience while touring the school.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of the highlights of my Holy Cross experience was my Montserrat (first year) seminar. The professor fostered informative and dynamic academic discussions while also creating a space for us to talk about our transition to college. I met some of my best friends in this class and I still remain in contact with my professor to this day, as she has been a constant mentor to me.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Not only did Holy Cross have the theatre and band programs I was looking for, but it also has the community I wanted. I knew that Holy Cross would challenge me, but also have the resources and people here to help me succeed. There is such a fantastic community both here on campus and in our alumni network. I knew that Holy Cross would always have my back.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I remember how intense the college search process was for me so being able to help make visitors' experiences here as informative and pleasant as possible makes me feel really great. I also love being able to reach out to potential theatre and band students and to tell them how awesome our programs are here...and sometimes, if I have time, to give them tours of those departments on campus.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I went on the summer Maymester trip to London my first summer here and it was a life changing experience. We stayed there for over a month and saw a show every night which amounted to 35 different pieces of London theatre. We also got to walk around London all day and go to art museums. I can honestly say it was the best trip of my life.

Co-Curricular Involvement: Head Resident Assistant in Brooks-Mulledy Hall, Interdenominational Praise and Worship Leader, College Choir, Chamber Singers, Choir E-Board, Gateways Fall Orientation Leader, Music Department Student Advisory Committee

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Small enough that I would always see a familiar face on my way to class, but large enough that there would always be new people for me to meet, I could tell right away that Holy Cross was the perfect size for me. Beyond that though, the strong sense of community, firm commitment to social justice, and consistent emphasis on serving others was something that I felt at Holy Cross from the moment I stepped onto campus. These were all things that were incredibly important to me, and ultimately they were the reasons that I decided to spend these four years of my life at Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My school has been so good to me, and I love getting to share the love that I have for Holy Cross with other people. Being a tour guide has provided me with the unique opportunity to constantly meet prospective students and their families, and share the wonderful college experience that I have had with them. I also get the privilege of walking these families around the beautiful place that I get to call my home, and talking about the many great programs and opportunities that Holy Cross offers to its students, who have such a wide range of interests and passions.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
During spring break of my sophomore year, I was able to go on tour with the College Choir to New York City and Washington DC. My involvement in the College Choir and the Chamber Singers has been a huge highlight of my Holy Cross experience, and getting to tour with my fellow singers was something that I will remember forever. Choir has been a great way for me to meet other people that I would not have crossed paths with otherwise, as music majors and non-music majors alike can be a part of this program. I met a handful of my closest friends in this program where we work hard, have lots of fun, and make some really beautiful music.

Dan Barber '22

Co-Curricular Involvement: Holy Cross Bands, Intramural Sports, Fall Break Immersion

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross met a number of qualities I was looking for in a college - rigorous academics, small class sizes, and a great Jesuit tradition. What set Holy Cross apart from other schools was the warm community I saw on my visit to campus. The student I shadowed was constantly introducing me to friends she ran into on the way to class, and professors knew all of their students by name. Holy Cross seemed like a place where I could feel at home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Speaking with current students is one of the best ways to learn about a school. Making a personal connection puts facts and statistics into context and gives meaning to what can be read on the website. I had a great experience meeting my tour guide and learning about what made Holy Cross special for him. My visit led me to apply and choose Holy Cross, and now I'm confident that it was the right choice for me. I wanted to become a tour guide so I could share my experience with students who are interested in learning about Holy Cross and help them find out if it is right for them, too.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I've seen some beautiful fall and winter days on Mount St. James, but nothing compares to the first day that felt like spring. The snow had melted earlier in the week but the chilly temperature had remained. On this day, however, the sun came out and the air began to feel different. By lunchtime, nearly every student on campus was outside enjoying an incredibly warm afternoon. My friends and I took the opportunity to play a game of frisbee on the Hoval while others read books on the grass or walked and talked with one another. It was a time when Holy Cross really felt like a family - we were all in a great mood and we were all celebrating together. The nice temperature didn't last long, but I'll never forget the high spirits of the student body.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
One of the things that stood out to me was the community here at Holy Cross. When I toured here I noticed between the students, faculty, and staff, I knew I would be surrounded by kind, outgoing, friendly people. The rigorous academics was another aspect that drew me in, because HC would push me out of my comfort zone academically, but I still would have a strong community to fall back on. The last part was the alumni network. As soon as I started looking at Holy Cross, I kept bumping into people who had a connection with the College, and they always spoke highly of their time here. I knew I would need a rigorous college to prepare my career, but I would need the alumni to help me get into the workforce. Due to these three factors, I applied Early Decision, and I knew by the fall of my senior year that I would be a Crusader.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I believe being a tour guide is just a little glimpse of some of the outgoing people who go out of their way to make others feel welcome on campus. Hopefully, as a tour guide, I can give back to HC while I'm still on campus by showing prospectives how much I love Holy Cross and encouraging students to apply.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight of my Holy Cross experience was one of the many times my friends and I went to Crossroads. We got our usual chicken fingers and french fries, but that night we stayed talking for hours. Eventually, we started telling funny stories about our childhood, and soon we all were laughing hysterically. It has to be one of my best memories -- comfort food, great people, and amazing stories.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
From the start, it was evident that Holy Cross is such a strong community and I loved how welcome I felt on campus. It was really clear to me that I would get an incredible education and also meet amazing people along the way.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I became a tour guide because I want to give prospective students the same enthusiastic and warm welcome that I received on my first trip to Holy Cross. The College has so many wonderful opportunities to offer, and I want to be able to share my experience with future Crusaders!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite day at Holy Cross was the day we returned to campus after Winter Break. After a month and a half of being away from my friends, it was so fun to finally come back to campus and see everyone again. I've always felt so welcome at Holy Cross, but it was this moment when it really felt like home.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of its liberal arts education and the Jesuit identity. A Jesuit education has allowed me to further develop my critical thinking skills. The wide range of classes I have taken so far at Holy Cross have given me the opportunity to engage, reflect, and make connections about different topics and ideas.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I wished to share my love and passion for the school with its visitors. By being a tour guide, I have had the chance to connect and meet people from all over the country. As I show them around campus, I enjoy teaching others about the school's amazing and fascinating history.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The Holy Cross vs. Boston College football game was an awesome experience because the Holy Cross community united together, and Alumni Stadium was filled with camaraderie.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I enjoyed my first year at Holy Cross so much and I love sharing that experience with others. I chose to become a tour guide because I wanted to show future Crusaders Holy Cross through my eyes and to help them along the difficult college selection process.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of the highlights of my experience at Holy Cross has been volunteering with Student Programs for Urban Development (SPUD). It's such a fun way to get to know other Holy Cross students that I wouldn't have otherwise met and to give back to the Worcester community.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
For me, Holy Cross was the college that had it all. HC offers rigorous academics, has dedicated and supportive professors, allows students to have a vibrant social life, and emphasizes the Jesuit philosophy of care for the whole person. I fell in love with the College the first time I visited campus and it continues to amaze me each day.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I LOVE Holy Cross and want to share my enthusiasm for HC with other people. I have had only positive experiences during my time here and want others to have a college experience as amazing as mine has been thus far. Holy Cross is truly a special place and I want to help other people see this.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far has been utilizing the Joyce Contemplative Center, HC's beautiful retreat facility located about 20 minutes away from campus. I had the opportunity to go on the "Escape Retreat" offered to first year students, as well as the "Eat, Pray, Study Retreat" offered during finals.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was looking for three things in my college experience: great academics, great athletics, and a great alumni network. I felt as though Holy Cross offered all of these things, as well something more important that I hadn't previously considered: community. College is a place that you can call home for 4 years. I felt as though I could call Holy Cross my home for the next 40.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I felt like it would be a great opportunity to give back to the place that provided me with such a great opportunity for my education and my future.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I would have to say our football team's victory against Georgetown this past year was one of the highlights of not only the year, but one of the most memorable days of my life as well. It was almost as if I was in movie as we turned a very unlikely outcome into a reality.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the community and strong academics. At Holy Cross, everyone makes an effort to know your name at the ery least, but typically to get to know you on a deeper level. It feels like home when you know everyone living in your residence hall. There is also a sense of community among your professors; since it is a small class size, you develop a strong relationship with your professors making the transition easier into college. Holy Cross also has strong academics without the competition, as your peers want to help you to excel in your classes.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I know how influential a student representative can be in helping a prospective student pick a college. I wanted to share my love for Holy Cross with prospective students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far is definitely "Working for Worcester". This program, which is held annual, strives to improve our Worcester community through building playgrounds, gardens, basketball courts, and so much more for Worcester schools. My sophomore year I was a site manager for Working for Worcester. I collaborated with three other students to plan and execute a new play area, food pantry, clothing room, conference room, and basketball court for Elm Park Elementary School in Worcester. It was a great experience to come together with students from different class years to work on such an amazing project. After months of planning, Building Day came around and our project was executed. The feeling of seeing our final project was indescribable and one of my favorite memories at Holy Cross.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I excitedly chose Holy Cross for the overly welcoming, friendly, and positive environment the College had to offer. During all of my visits to The Hill, each student and faculty member I interacted with never failed to make me feel right at home. I also love the Jesuit mission of developing students to become men and women for and with others. Service and volunteering have always been of high importance in my life and I knew Holy Cross would provide me with countless opportunities to continue this work.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide not only to share my admiration of and appreciation towards Holy Cross, but also to be able to help prospective students make the very tough and life-changing decision of choosing where to attend college. I know from personal experience that college tours can often be a make or break part of the decision process so I am excited to do my best in representing the college in a positive light and sharing any knowledge and advice I have with students.

The academic offerings at Holy Cross allow me to be well-rounded. As a science major, I also wanted the opportunity to study the liberal arts. The small class sizes were also a major factor in my decision to attend Holy Cross. Additionally, the alumni network is amazing.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?

I knew from the moment that I stepped out of the car for the first time that Holy Cross was the place for me. There is an overwhelming sense of community and tradition that is unique to Holy Cross. Whether it was the greeter in the Admission Office, the senior who interviewed me, or the student who gave my campus tour, I felt that they all took a genuine interest in me and allowed my insight to the community. Holy Cross is a community that you are a part of forever.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far has been able to continue my participation as a baton twirler with a marching band. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for three reason: athletics, size, and the liberal arts education with Jesuit values. Holy Cross values their athletics and I value the community that the teams build. I love getting to be apart of the games as a member of the Crusader Pep Band. I also love the tight knit school community because it strengthens the camaraderie amongst students and allows for a deeper, more meaningful educational experience. Lastly, I love the flexibility and diversity the education here has given me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I believe Holy Cross is an amazing school and I want to share my positive experience with prospective students. Since I just finished my first year, I can still remember how stressful the college search. I want to be more involved with the Admission Office to help alleviate that pressure, as well as get students excited about Holy Cross and all of the wonderful things it has to offer.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The biggest highlight of my Holy Cross experience was Spring Weekend - I had an absolute blast. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for something I can't quite show off on a tour -- the community. Holy Cross is an incredibly supportive and inclusive community of people always striving to do their best. I think we embody the Jesuit principle of "cura personalis," or "care for the whole person" -- Holy Cross and its community helps you grow intellectually, yes, but also emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Each student and staff member here is committed to each other and striving to be people for and with others.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I chose to become a tour guide after volunteering for a semester as an "Admissions Greeter". I quickly realized that I love talking about my Holy Cross experience to help prospective students make their big college decision.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Though there have been many, I think one of my favorite memories is from Fall Gateways Orientation for the Class of 2022. I met an amazing group of people who embodied the best qualities of Holy Cross, both in my orientees and in my fellow orientation leaders. I vividly remember standing outside Hogan at sunset with them at the end of orientation and feeling so incredibly happy and grateful that I couldn't imagine putting it into words.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross is a family school for me. From my parents to my brother to a ton of my cousins, my family truly "bleeds purple". I never understood why until I came to campus for the first time as a prospective student. Holy Cross fosters a community unlike any other and pushes its students to be the best they can be in an environment that will love and care for them forever. From the minute I got here for my tour, I knew that I wanted to be a Crusader. Mount St. James truly feels like home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My tour guide was one of the most instrumental people in my decision to come to Holy Cross. During our tour she made a point to get to know me and answer all of my questions as thoroughly as she could. At the end of the tour she wrote her email down for me and when I reached out to her with a few follow-up questions, she got back to me quickly. I even emailed her when I got into Holy Cross to let her know. I only hope I can do the same for other high school students making their college decisions.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I would say getting to attend the Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice in Washington D.C. last fall. As a first year student, attending a social justice conference in DC was a huge honor. I made some of my dearest friends on that trip. This trip really embodied the spirit of Holy Cross' mission of being "men and women for an with others." I got to interact with students on campus that I may never have crossed paths with and I got to meet other college students from all over the country.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was my favorite school for many reasons! One of those reasons was its size. HC is the perfect size for me because it is small enough that I am able to form relationships with professors and see familiar faces around campus often, but also big enough that there are always opportunities to meet new people. I was also excited by the wide variety of academic programs offered through the liberal arts education because as a first year student, I had not yet decided what my major should be. As an athlete, I liked that I could be a part of a Division I program while still being encouraged to focus on academics and take part in all that the campus has to offer.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide to share my excitement for Holy Cross with prospective students. When I toured Holy Cross, I felt so at home for the first time in my college search and I hope that the students that tour with me feel the same!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The major highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far has been making memories with all of the people who have become my second family here on campus. After spending countless nights on Wheeler 3 with my roommates, running to Kimball Dining Hall after practice with my teammates, and always finding new places all over campus to study with my classmates, the people here are what have made my time at Holy Cross so unforgettable.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy across because it offered a small community that somehow still felt huge. I saw myself connecting with many different groups on campus that ultimately end up becoming the biggest parts of my Holy Cross identity.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide so that I could provide a different perspective to the Holy Cross experience. I am a part of many Multicultural Student Organizations here, and through these, I am able to see student life through a different lens than many. Students and families may have questions about multicultural life on campus, and I thought it would be great to fill this position and offer my experience.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I visited Holy Cross four times and each time I stepped on campus the sense of community only felt stronger. One of my visits included a Spring Overnight and that was the moment I made my final decision that I wanted to come to Holy Cross. My host was wonderful. She was so welcoming and showed me so many things and also explained how much Holy Cross offers. The other very appealing aspect is the incredibly strong alumni network. During my visits to Holy Cross I heard many stories about how invested the alumni network is as a whole, with their willingness to help Holy Cross students land internships and jobs. This is important to me and it made me really want to become part of the tight-knit community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
When I was visiting colleges, the institutions that stood out were the ones where the tour guides were open, genuine, and vulnerable. This type of experience is something a prospective student cannot obtain from a website or a booklet. It is only made possible through a tour with an energetic and personable student who engages the visitors with funny, comforting, and inspiring stories. I want to create that type of experience for prospective students.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Both of my parents are Holy Cross graduates. Growing up, I saw how strong and spirited the Holy Cross community was and I knew that was something I wanted to be part of. After I toured the campus, this was the only college I could picture myself attending and I think that was because everyone was so welcoming. Holy Cross offered me the opportunity to pursue a STEM career while also exploring other interests and participating in D1 athletics. Overall, I found everything I was looking for at HC!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I love Holy Cross and I really enjoy getting to share that with others. Becoming a tour guide has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and given me the chance to meet so many wonderful families.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Participating in the Maymester program was one of my favorite experiences at Holy Cross so far. I got to study the Holocaust in central Europe, traveling to eleven different cities in one month. I left the trip with transformed views of the world, as well as lifelong friends.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My Holy Cross tour guide made such a difference in my experience here as a prospective student and then was a friendly face to me around campus during the first few weeks of school. I would like to be that friendly face for prospective (and hopefully future) students here at HC.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because if there's something you want to do, it's here on campus and it's her in the community. With the liberal arts education, I'm able to take classes I didn't think I'd otherwise gravitate towards, such as English classes and Asian studies classes. If I wanted to keep playing music, the opportunities are here for me. I wanted to attend a school with a vast community and Holy Cross not only offers just that, it's one of the very best things about it.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I really enjoy communicating with college-bound students. It's an exciting, but also difficult (and even frightening) time for students looking at colleges to see where their future may be heading. Having a great first-impression and a warm welcome from a school such as that of Holy Cross really makes a difference for a student. I wanted to be able to relay that feeling to students as a tour guide.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Battle of the Bands in the spring semester was awesome. A ton of students came out to watch and it was a really great display of the insane amount of talent students have here at campus. It was really cool to jam on a drum-set in front of so many people!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was looking for a smaller school that had a strong community feel. When I was on an admitted student visit with a host, I actually fell on the steps of Dinand Library in front of the whole Holy Cross community! When I finally got up and was very embarrassed, Holy Cross students were picking up my belongings for me and making sure that I was alright. It was that experience that really showed me the caring, community feeling that Holy Cross fosters. I knew from that moment on that I would definitely be attending Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Since I had so many positive experiences at Holy Cross throughout the college admission process, I think it's really important for me to give that experience to other prospective students in the best way that I can. I want students and families to have the same amazing experience as I did and I believe that all starts on a campus tour!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Definitely all the tailgates and the football games in the fall! They're so fun and easily my favorite weekend events. It's always great to have my family come up and join me and to meet my friends' families at the tailgates.

I enjoy engaging with prospective students and their families, and I take pride in sharing our beautiful campus and all the exciting opportunities it has to offer.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Following my first year at Holy Cross, I worked on campus with the Weiss Summer Research Program. My project focused on U.S. Supreme Court and circuit court rulings pertaining to higher education, specifically emphasizing controversial issues such as free speech and affirmative action. Obtaining this hands-on experience as an undergraduate showed me where my academic and professional goals may lead me after graduation.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because it was the last college I toured after a long weekend of college visits and despite my lack of enthusiasm about coming to campus that day, I still absolutely loved it. I was also excited about the prospect of coming to a Jesuit school, and I felt so welcomed both when I came for my original tour and then again when I came to Admitted Students Day.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because Holy Cross has been a great home to me for the last three years, and I want to be part of the first step of making it feel like a home to prospective students. Additionally, I am so excited to meet potential members of the next class of Holy Cross students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
It is so hard to choose one highlight of my Holy Cross experience, but being a summer orientation leader really sticks out for me as something that has defined my time at Holy Cross. Being able to welcome incoming classes of students, as well as getting to know the other orientation leaders, who have become some of my best friends at Holy Cross, has been such an integral part of my college experience and truly showcases how much love there is in the Holy Cross community!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross felt like home from the moment I stepped on campus. My overnight visit when I was a senior in high school helped me decide Holy Cross was the perfect school for me. The welcoming atmosphere from all students, Jesuits, professors and staff was the most important factor for me. I knew this was a place I could get involved with the community and form strong relationships.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Imagine walking down the road of a place you have never been before, but still feeling like you are home. Imagine meeting one hundred strangers in the time span of a few hours, and already feeling as though you made one hundred new friends. This was my experience when I first came to Holy Cross to visit, and it is still how I feel about this place after a year full of education and never ending adventures. Not only does this school check off the boxes for academic programs, study abroad, extracurricular opportunities, alumni network, financial aid and more, but it is also a tight-knit community that accepts everyone and encourages you to challenge and discover who you want to be. That is what is so special about Holy Cross. You might be able to find an education anywhere, but it is a lot harder to find a school that helps you grow as both a student and a person, while feeling like family. As hard as it is to find, that is what I was looking for when searching for colleges, and as soon as I was on the campus, I knew Holy Cross was going to be that second home for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
One of the first people I met at Holy Cross was my tour guide when I visited the school in 2017. Her name was Kathleen, and she was incredibly funny, outgoing, and welcoming to all of the students on the tour. Since it was my first time here and I was in the midst of visiting many different schools, Kathleen became the face of Holy Cross to me. She was the way I remembered the school, along with the many friendly smiling faces and strangers holding doors, a long time after my first visit. I am hoping, by becoming a tour guide, that I am able to have a similar impact on the many students who walk through our campus, with a feeling that Holy Cross is not only an excellent institution but also a home away from home.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences of being at Holy Cross has been my Montserrat seminar during my first year. I knew I wanted to be on the Pre-Med track, so I was incredibly focused on all of my science courses going into the school year. However, this religion/social justice based seminar opened my eyes to see the importance of understanding people's struggles if I want to become a health professional. Throughout the course, my classmates, professor, and I formed a tight-knit bond that still exists today. And ultimately, I was motivated to become a Religious Studies major.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the incredible people and culture that radiated up, down, and all around the hills on campus. I decided to apply Early Decision only two weeks after my first visit to Holy Cross. I was then notified of my acceptance right before Christmas and it was truly the best present I could have received. I knew that Holy Cross would be supportive of my dreams and provide me with incredible people to guide me along the way; I was not wrong. I loved how Holy Cross emphasized the importance of being a well-rounded human being, who is aware of and takes responsibility for the world around her.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
As my freshman year progressed, and I made friends that pretty quickly turned into my family at Holy Cross, I knew I had a lot to be thankful for. I wanted to give back to the school in any way I could, and I felt being a tour guide and spreading my enthusiasm and energy for Holy Cross could really make a difference. I also know how much pressure it is being in high school, trying to figure out your next steps, and in general just navigating the college process. Every tour I give, I try to give a pep talk and remind the students that in the end what matters is the attitude you have and bring to the school you end up at, whether that is Holy Cross or not. I want to be an outlet for people visiting Holy Cross and show them a slice of what my incredible experience has been like thus far.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
At the end of a tour during my sophomore year, I was talking about the friends I have made at Holy Cross and how important they have been for my happiness and success so far. As I finished my final thought, my roommate ran up to me and said, "Mia, I'm running to class, but I know you were stressed today so I grabbed you your favorite sushi! Sorry for interrupting, I'll see you later" (California roll from Lower Kimball, of course). With that, she scampered off. My tour group all looked at me, smiling, and one mom asked, "Is that normal?" I smiled and said "I don't think I could have gotten better free advertisement for Holy Cross", and everyone laughed. I explained how lucky I was to have my roommate, and how genuinely thoughtful she is, and how we do little stuff like that for each other all the time. I will always remember that moment because it reminded me how blessed I am to have the people I do in my life, but also reminded me of my gratitude towards Holy Cross for putting them in my life!

I will never forget what it felt like to get welcomed into my Cross Country team as a first year student. I felt like I became part of a family the moment I became part of this team. As soon as I was welcomed into my team's family, I was welcomed into an even larger family, the Holy Cross community.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
While the quality of the academics, success of the graduates, and many other factors were all certainly important in my decision, what put it over the top was the type of people I had encountered who were either alumni of or students at Holy Cross. The quality of these people made it clear to me that the community you hear discussed so often is both real and incredibly strong.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I've loved my time at Holy Cross and understand how influential your guide can be when deciding between schools. I'm hoping that with this position I'll be able to show everyone the many things that Holy Cross has to offer in a way that really lets the students know what the school is all about.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Tutoring two students each week at the Heard St. Academy with my Educational Psychology class is one that really stands out because of how I was able to connect with the people of Worcester almost right away at Holy Cross.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for endless reasons, such as the stellar reputation, job opportunities, the location, and the small class sizes. However, one of the most prominent reasons I chose Holy Cross was the emphasize Holy Cross places on developing students as a whole person. One of the most important values of a Jesuit education is creating men and women for others and this is something that really resonated with me when I was choosing a college. I appreciated how Holy Cross provided students with the tools for academic success but also prepared students to help others and be there for others. I think that Holy Cross does a really good job of providing students with all of these opportunities to be men and women for others, through SPUD, Spring Break Immersion trips, and also student groups on campus such as COPE. When I was choosing a school I wanted to go somewhere students cared about their community and cared for each other and Holy Cross was this place.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
There are numerous reasons as to why I wanted to become a tour guide. One of the reasons was because I thoroughly enjoyed working in the Admissions Office my first year as a Greeter, where I had the opportunity to meet new people and share my experiences at Holy Cross with prospective students. I also just love Holy Cross. I want to show prospective students what a great school community we have here. I want to be able to answer any questions and tell them about all the opportunities that Holy Cross has to offer.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far would be attending the late night breakfast in Kimball Dining Hall leading up to winter finals. It was a great time to destress and refuel before beginning exams and a fun community event for everyone to be a part of.

One highlight of my Holy Cross experience is being able to study art and history in Rome. I was able to meet outstanding classics professors as well as meet new students. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Ultimately, my visit to campus led me to chose Holy Cross. Even though I toured in the pouring rain and my flight got canceled afterwards, I was still able to fall in love with the school. The sense of community at Holy Cross was unlike any other college, and I knew right away that I wanted to call this place home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
During my college visit process, the tour was the most influential part of the decision. Being a tour guide allows me to share my experiences so far and help prospective students decide whether Holy Cross is the right fit for them.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
During Fall Break, I attended the Finance Boot Camp which is sponsored by the Pre-Business Program at Holy Cross. Through this program, I was able to go to New York City for the first time and visit the different investment banks on Wall Street. Also, being able to meet alumni as a first year and begin the networking process was an eye-opening experience, and something I never realized I would be doing within my first few weeks on campus.

Holy Cross checked off everything I was looking for in a school and my tour experience sealed the deal. While waiting for my tour, a student walked up to our group and started sharing his story about how he chose his major at Holy Cross. Through this story I learned how he found his passions at Holy Cross and I knew that this was the place where I wanted to pursue mine.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross has opened me up to new experiences and people that I never thought possible. I want to be able to share this with others and encourage them to seriously consider attending Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my time at Holy Cross has been my Spring Break Immersion trip to Whitley City, Kentucky. Between working with the community, going on hikes with our hosts and singing karaoke I made friendships and memories that I will cherish forever.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of its community. One of the things that stood out most to me when I first visited the campus was that my tour guide said hi to every student she passed and even shared stories about how she knew them. I remember thinking that it was amazing to see so many students who knew one another and cared enough to say hi. I even had the opportunity to talk to a couple of alumni when I visited and they told me about some of their experiences at Holy Cross. Everyone seemed so connected to each other and the college that it made me want to be a part of it too.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I wanted to share my experiences at Holy Cross with others. While at Holy Cross, I have met some of my best friends and gotten the opportunity to take part in some really exciting projects both in and outside of the classroom. Being a tour guide allows me to share with those that come to visit just how important my time here has been to me.

I chose Holy Cross because I admired the College's commitment to providing students with an exceptional liberal arts education rooted in Jesuit tradition. When touring Holy Cross with my family as a senior in high school, I immediately witnessed how everyone on our campus treated each other with kindness and respect. I was drawn to Holy Cross because I wanted to become a part of our supportive community that is dedicated to helping others and making our campus, and the world, a better a place.

The highlight of my Holy Cross experience is Build Day 2019 with Working for Worcester, a community initiative designed to better the family spaces in Worcester, Massachusetts. I became a Tour Guide because I love speaking with incoming students and their families about the amazing experiences Holy Cross offers and what makes it so special. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I've always known that I want to be a pediatric dentist, so learning about Holy Cross' incredible Pre-Health Advisory Program sealed the deal for me. Now, as a senior, I can attest to having four years of support and guidance not only form the Pre-Health Committee, but also from every professor who I have (and haven't!) shared my plans with. Also, I absolutely fell in love with the campus when I first visited!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
After my first year at Holy Cross, I found myself constantly telling my younger friends and cousins that they should follow me here, or at the very least look into the school. I have had such great experiences both in class and out that I've always looked for any chance I can get to talk about Holy Cross; being a tour guide gives me the perfect excuse to do that!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Definitely bonding with Worcester Technical High School students who I mentor through XCHROM, the Women in Science group at Holy Cross. It's been amazing helping them achieve their goals of becoming women in science both in high school and beyond.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because the people here are so kind and genuine. Even though it is a rigorous school, having great people around makes it easier. Also, the school works very hard on diversity and it shows. There are plenty of outlets to find people from the same background as you and to learn about other people. Everyone is here to learn, not just academically, but also socially and culturally. The people are what make Holy Cross the great place that it is. I've learned so much in just the past year and I am so grateful.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I already love talking about Holy Cross as is. Every chance I get I am talking about the school. I want to make sure that all prospective students are getting a true feel for what Holy Cross is like as they make their important college decision.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The highlight of my Holy Cross experience so far has been the CASA Fashion Show. It was so nice to have my entire Montserrat class show up in support. Also, partaking in a show with all my friends to celebrate our shared identity was such an unforgettable experience that I am very grateful for.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
One thing that really struck me about Holy Cross was the student-to-professor ratio. I love how the class sizes are small, fostering great relationships with professors who are constantly willing to help you succeed. The HC professors know everyone by their first and last name and they are incredible mentors to have during the four years on The Hill. The entire college community is also so welcoming and connected and from the moment I stepped on the beautiful campus I knew I wanted to be a part of the HC Family.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to share my love of Holy Cross to prospective students, parents, and school groups. I want to students to have an incredible experience from the moment they step on campus, and hopefully help them fall in love with HC just as I did when I was in their shoes.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
If I had to name one highlight of my Holy Cross experience, I would say Spring Weekend on The Hill. It is such a fun, activity-filled weekend right before spring exams where the whole HC community comes together to celebrate the past school year.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for a variety of reasons. One of the biggest reasons why, on top of amazing the quality of academics are here, is a sense of community I did not see anywhere else. The community at Holy Cross is the best you will find at any school. Everyone here is accepting and regardless of a person's background you will be accepted with open arms into the Holy Cross community. As a Jewish student at Holy Cross, I've always felt like I'm part of the community and I've never felt like I didn't belong. Holy Cross is a special place filled with amazing people and top notch professors.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become tour guide because ever since I've gotten on campus I always wanted to share how amazing my experiences have been so far at Holy Cross. And what better way to do that than becoming a tour guide and showing prospective families and students the wonderful campus of Holy Cross. I want to introduce people to the beautiful campus we have, and make them feel welcomed and already part of the Holy Cross community!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my first year had to be Battle of the Bands in front of Kimball dining hall. That was my first ever time playing bass in front of a crowd and my first ever performance in a band outside of organized bands. It was amazing to be with my friends playing music that we loved and having an amazing time on a perfect spring day.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for three main reasons - the students and the faculty I met seemed excited to be here and excited to learn, the campus was small enough where I felt at home, but big enough where I could see myself meeting a lot of different people, and when I visited for a tour everyone said hi and held the door for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I knew I wanted to apply to be a tour guide my freshman year because I remembered how important the tours I went on during my college search were. After an amazing first year, I felt becoming a tour guide would be a great way for me to give back and get involved in a program that really convinced me to make one of the best decisions of my life, which was to come to Holy Cross. Not to mention giving a tour every week here on The Hill is a great work out.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight for me each year here at Holy Cross is in May, Big Brothers Big Sisters puts on a field day where our "littles" can come to campus and see everything that we do. Their excitement for Kimball ice cream and the fish tank in Smith Labs really made me appreciate all of the little things Holy Cross does for us.
