Tour Guides

Holy Cross tour guides run the gamut of academic interests and areas of involvement here at the College. They also share at least one thing in common: their love of Holy Cross. Our guides can't wait to walk The Hill alongside you, share their stories, and answer your questions about being a Crusader.

Please feel free to read through these student profiles and reach out to any student volunteer who you would like to connect with. We also encourage you to look into all of the on-campus and virtual opportunities that the Office of Admission offers which will allow you to hear from and connect with current Holy Cross students.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was drawn to Holy Cross because of the strong sense of community. Each time I visited campus, I was amazed at how welcoming the students were and how willing they were to answer my questions. When I returned to campus for Admitted Students Day, each Holy Cross student I interacted with was so willing to make me feel welcomed and like a part of the community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Tour guides are someone’s first experience at a school, and I would love to be part of someone’s first Holy Cross experience. The Holy Cross community has given me so much in such a short amount of time, and being a tour guide is my way of paying it forward.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite memories has to be the first really nice day after all the snow melts! Everyone is so happy to be outside in the warm sun after the cold winter. I love seeing everyone on the Hoval and having lunch or dinner outside with my friends!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross is where my dad went to college and I always kept it on my list of potential options. When it came time to decide, I realized that Holy Cross provided the perfect college environment for me too. With amazing faculty, staff, and students, Holy Cross proved to be committed to its community. I knew then that HC was a place that I could be myself and be surrounded by amazing people who want to help me succeed in any future endeavor.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to show everyone why HC is a place that I care so much about. Holy Cross is a special place full of amazing people, and I want to share my passion for the school with anyone/everyone that will listen.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences was watching the Red Sox win the World Series during the fall of my first year while surrounded by my upperclassmen Cross Country teammates and FaceTiming with my dad. The older students were so inviting in my introduction to the college lifestyle and have been amazing mentors for me these past few years. The willingness to offer advice or to extend an invitation to come over meant the world to me. This was one of the moments I realized that the students at HC really care about each other (plus it was nice to see another Boston championship!)

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Ever since I first visited Holy Cross, it felt like home. The sense of a small community allowed me to feel like I belonged to HC.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I want other students to know that everything is possible. A year ago somewhere like Holy Cross seemed unreal to me. So many people told me that college in the US was not even an option for me. As a tour guide, I want to make sure that no student feels that way. I want them to know that hard work and perseverance are critical and Holy Cross requires that. Furthermore, I hope to show why this place has changed my life.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I was part of our immersion trip to Camden, NJ during the spring. It was one of the most challenging and enriching experiences I ever had. We were able to be part of the realities of so many other people outside the Hill. Most importantly, we left Camden with infinite energy to continue impacting our communities.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross? Imagine walking down the road of a place you have never been before, but still feeling like you are home. Imagine meeting one hundred strangers in the time span of a few hours, and already feeling as though you made one hundred new friends. This was my experience when I first came to Holy Cross to visit, and it is still how I feel about this place after a year full of education and never ending adventures. Not only does this school check off the boxes for academic programs, study abroad, extracurricular opportunities, alumni network, financial aid and more, but it is also a tight-knit community that accepts everyone and encourages you to challenge and discover who you want to be. That is what is so special about Holy Cross. You might be able to find an education anywhere, but it is a lot harder to find a school that helps you grow as both a student and a person, while feeling like family. As hard as it is to find, that is what I was looking for when searching for colleges, and as soon as I was on the campus, I knew Holy Cross was going to be that second home for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide? One of the first people I met at Holy Cross was my tour guide when I visited the school in 2017. Her name was Kathleen, and she was incredibly funny, outgoing, and welcoming to all of the students on the tour. Since it was my first time here and I was in the midst of visiting many different schools, Kathleen became the face of Holy Cross to me. She was the way I remembered the school, along with the many friendly smiling faces and strangers holding doors, a long time after my first visit. I am hoping, by becoming a tour guide, that I am able to have a similar impact on the many students who walk through our campus, with a feeling that Holy Cross is not only an excellent institution but also a home away from home.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far? One of my favorite experiences of being at Holy Cross has been my Montserrat seminar during my first year. I knew I wanted to be on the Pre-Med track, so I was incredibly focused on all of my science courses going into the school year. However, this religion/social justice based seminar opened my eyes to see the importance of understanding people's struggles if I want to become a health professional. Throughout the course, my classmates, professor, and I formed a tight-knit bond that still exists today. And ultimately, I was motivated to become a Religious Studies major.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
While the quality of the academics, success of the graduates, and many other factors were all certainly important in my decision, what put it over the top was the type of people I had encountered who were either alumni of or students at Holy Cross. The quality of these people made it clear to me that the community you hear discussed so often is both real and incredibly strong.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I've loved my time at Holy Cross and understand how influential your guide can be when deciding between schools. I'm hoping that with this position I'll be able to show everyone the many things that Holy Cross has to offer in a way that really lets the students know what the school is all about.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Tutoring two students each week at the Heard St. Academy with my Educational Psychology class is one that really stands out because of how I was able to connect with the people of Worcester almost right away at Holy Cross.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?  I chose Holy Cross for endless reasons, such as the stellar reputation, job opportunities, the location, and the small class sizes. However, one of the most prominent reasons I chose Holy Cross was the emphasize Holy Cross places on developing students as a whole person. One of the most important values of a Jesuit education is creating men and women for others and this is something that really resonated with me when I was choosing a college. I appreciated how Holy Cross provided students with the tools for academic success but also prepared students to help others and be there for others. I think that Holy Cross does a really good job of providing students with all of these opportunities to be men and women for others, through SPUD, Spring Break Immersion trips, and also student groups on campus such as COPE. When I was choosing a school I wanted to go somewhere students cared about their community and cared for each other and Holy Cross was this place.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?  There are numerous reasons as to why I wanted to become a tour guide. One of the reasons was because I thoroughly enjoyed working in the Admissions Office my first year as a Greeter, where I had the opportunity to meet new people and share my experiences at Holy Cross with prospective students. I also just love Holy Cross. I want to show prospective students what a great school community we have here. I want to be able to answer any questions and tell them about all the opportunities that Holy Cross has to offer.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?  One highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far would be attending the late night breakfast in Kimball Dining Hall leading up to winter finals. It was a great time to destress and refuel before beginning exams and a fun community event for everyone to be a part of.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Ultimately, my visit to campus led me to choose Holy Cross. Even though I toured in the pouring rain and my flight got canceled afterwards, I was still able to fall in love with the school. The sense of community at Holy Cross was unlike any other college, and I knew right away that I wanted to call this place home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
During my college visit process, the tour was the most influential part of the decision. Being a tour guide allows me to share my experiences so far and help prospective students decide whether Holy Cross is the right fit for them.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
During Fall Break, I attended the Finance Boot Camp which is sponsored by the Pre-Business Program at Holy Cross. Through this program, I was able to go to New York City for the first time and visit the different investment banks on Wall Street. Also, being able to meet alumni as a first year student and begin the networking process was an eye-opening experience and something I never realized I would be doing within my first few weeks on campus.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
The moment when I first stepped onto the Holy Cross campus, I knew that this would be the school for me. I had never heard of Holy Cross before touring, but I knew that I wanted a small, Catholic, liberal arts school and Holy Cross checked all the boxes. Not only that, the smiling faces and warm welcomes truly made me feel like I was already apart of the community, and I knew from that moment on that I had found my home for the next four years.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Being a volunteer in the admissions office and a summer and fall orientation leader, I have had the opportunities to interact with prospective students and parents to help make their transition to college life easier. I have loved everything I have done so far on campus and being a tour guide is another way to help new students navigate Holy Cross, as well as give back to the campus that has given me so much.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Of everything that I have done so far on campus, being a Summer Orientation Leader definitely sticks out as my favorite Holy Cross experience. The opportunity to welcome a new class of students to the hill and the memories that I made with my fellow OLs are ones that I would never trade as they highlight how much Holy Cross cares for its students, both current and new!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the College's renowned academics and dedication to the student body. The gorgeous campus and warm smiles were also a big part of my decision.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross is my home. I love every single inch of the school and I love telling others all about it. I just want to let everyone know how great my home really is!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far was the Odyssey Program, which is Holy Cross' first year orientation program for first year students who are first generation students, people of color, and/or students who are eligible for Pell Grants. This experience was great for me to bond with students before my school year even started, and now those who I did Odyssey with are some of my closest friends. Some it even feels like I've known for years!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was one of the first schools I visited and I know it sounds cliché, but once I stepped onto campus I knew it was a special place. I began looking at Holy Cross because it was a school that checked all of "the boxes" for me. I was looking for a small school in New England with a strong liberal arts curriculum, Division I sports, a lot of school spirit, and a tight-knit community. These were all aspects I knew I wanted to be included in my college experience and Holy Cross definitely stood out.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
After touring multiple schools in my junior and senior years of high school I knew I wanted to be a tour guide no matter where I ended up. I was fortunate enough to have two knowledgeable and outgoing tour guides when I toured Holy Cross both times. Additionally, my father began his career as a college admissions counselor and is currently a college counselor for high school students. His love for college admissions definitely rubbed off on me and I knew I wanted to volunteer for the Admission Office through any opportunity I received...and what better way to that than to be a tour guide!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight from my first year would be acting in my first musical - Into The Woods - at Holy Cross. I met some of my closest friends through that show and was welcomed into the fantastic theater community on campus. Other theater opportunities opened up for me due to my participation in that show such as being cast in an advanced directing piece and going to London to study different genres of theater through a Maymester program.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
During my college search, Holy Cross stood out in its unique threefold structure. Its embrace of the liberal arts provided me with the opportunity to examine a broad spectrum of disciplines and world perspectives. Additionally, the small class sizes informed me that sharing my own views would be encouraged and that my professors would be able to give me the personal attention to pursue my passions and craft a personalized academic path. And finally, the Jesuit philosophy of “men and women for and with others” assured me that my classmates and I would be equipped with the tools to gear our newfound knowledge, skills, and experience towards serving others, especially those in need. Since becoming a member of the Holy Cross community, these three facets have been fully present and I could not have imagined a better experience.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide at Holy Cross so that I could share the sincere pride that I have for this school as well as the rich experiences that I have had here so far. I also understand the tremendous pressure and anxiety that the college application and selection process can create for students and parents. I feel that being a tour guide provides me with the opportunity to help students discern the proper college path for them.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my most cherished experiences at Holy Cross so far was the 2019 Spring Weekend which took place during my first year on the hill. Though I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in the classroom, practices at the rink, and involvement in campus ministry, this purely social event allowed me to immerse myself in the new home that I had found within the Holy Cross community on campus. This experience allowed me to recognize the strong bonds that I had created with my classmates in and outside of the classroom during my first year, which have lasted to this day.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
During February break of my sophomore year, I visited Holy Cross for the first time. I went with my ma and my partner organization, La Vida Scholars. My tour guide Matt Wyman was very engaging and made Holy Cross memorable for me. What I loved most about my tour were the students on campus - they all seemed genuinely happy to be there and talk to us whenever we walked by, I sensed a great community between them. While walking around campus, the atmosphere of the school was amazing- I felt at home and I pictured starting my future here. Ever since that first tour Holy Cross has always been my first choice for college. In total, I’ve visited the school three times and every time my mind hasn’t changed.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I would like to be a person that makes Holy Cross memorable for other students. Also, showing that I come from a rough background and am a woman of color, I believe that I can show others that anyone can strive for success and accomplish great things. People like us attend rigorous institutions and change the world.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because it is a school focused on building community. The college emphasizes forming strong bonds among students, students and faculty members, and students and the surrounding Worcester community. I wanted to attend a college that promoted collaboration over competition, and ensured that each student was given every opportunity to succeed. I found all of this and so much more during my time at Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross has allowed me to grow both academically and personally. I am sure that I would not be the person I am today without the connections and opportunities I have had during my time at HC. I want to be able to share my experiences with students considering attending Holy Cross, and I want to help others realize that Holy Cross is the right school for them.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences thus far was my Spring Break Immersion Trip during my first year. I remember being incredibly nervous and scared as I waited in the airport with eleven other HC students. During my time volunteering at La Puente in Colorado, I formed strong connections with the other members of my group from Holy Cross and with members of the La Puente family. I will never forget learning about the struggles of a rural community in Colorado and how they differed from members of the Worcester Community. SPIB was an eye-opening experience for me, and it inspired me to find new ways to participate in community service.

Dan Barber '22

Hometown: Redford, MI
Email: djbarb22@g.holycross.edu
Majors: Music & Economics
Co-Curricular Involvement: Holy Cross Bands, Intramural Sports, Fall Break Immersion

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross met a number of qualities I was looking for in a college - rigorous academics, small class sizes, and a great Jesuit tradition. What set Holy Cross apart from other schools was the warm community I saw on my visit to campus. The student I shadowed was constantly introducing me to friends she ran into on the way to class, and professors knew all of their students by name. Holy Cross seemed like a place where I could feel at home.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Speaking with current students is one of the best ways to learn about a school. Making a personal connection puts facts and statistics into context and gives meaning to what can be read on the website. I had a great experience meeting my tour guide and learning about what made Holy Cross special for him. My visit led me to apply and choose Holy Cross, and now I'm confident that it was the right choice for me. I wanted to become a tour guide so I could share my experience with students who are interested in learning about Holy Cross and help them find out if it is right for them, too.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I've seen some beautiful fall and winter days on Mount St. James, but nothing compares to the first day that felt like spring. The snow had melted earlier in the week but the chilly temperature had remained. On this day, however, the sun came out and the air began to feel different. By lunchtime, nearly every student on campus was outside enjoying an incredibly warm afternoon. My friends and I took the opportunity to play a game of frisbee on the Hoval while others read books on the grass or walked and talked with one another. It was a time when Holy Cross really felt like a family - we were all in a great mood and we were all celebrating together. The nice temperature didn't last long, but I'll never forget the high spirits of the student body.

Co-Curricular Involvement: Big Brothers Big Sisters (SPUD), Community-Based Learning Volunteer at the Worcester Deaf Club and Nelson Place Elementary School (CBL), Co-Chair of the Psychology Student Advisory Committee, Intramural Sports

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
During my senior year of high school, I shadowed a current Holy Cross student for the day and felt a true sense of community and acceptance on campus. From this point on, I knew that I wanted to make Holy Cross my home away from home and I really liked the small class sizes, allowing students to form close relationships with professors and classmates. I also knew that I wanted to attend a school with rigorous academics and unique academic programs, such as the Deaf Studies and American Sign Language programs, and I now am a Deaf Studies Minor.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My tour guide at Holy Cross and the immediate sense of community I felt during my campus tour is something that will stay with me forever and is a large part of why I decided to come to Holy Cross and applied to become a tour guide. I feel that a tour guide should be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the school and all it offers while remaining honest about their experiences. The same welcoming feeling I felt when I toured Holy Cross for the first time is the same feeling I have each day in my classes, dorm, extra-curriculars, and dining hall. I want to share this same sense of warmth and true love for Holy Cross with prospective students and their families! I also have career aspirations of working in admissions on a college campus, so I feel that being a tour guide would be a great stepping stone to any potential admissions career.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
As a double minor in Education and Deaf Studies, one of my favorite experiences during my time at Holy Cross has been the Community-based learning component of my American Sign Language classes. I volunteered with the Worcester Deaf Club and served as an intern at Nelson Place Elementary School, having the opportunity to interact with deaf children and the deaf community as a whole. Through these experiences and the unique programs offered at Holy Cross, I was able to become immersed in the greater Worcester community and learn about deaf individuals and their experiences and culture.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross not only for its strength in the liberal arts, but also the presence of a dedicated, hard-working, and kind community. With such a strong core of academic disciplines, I knew I would be able to further my own academic interests and be exposed to a plethora of new opportunities, all while in a community of students and faculty supporting you and each other. I knew at Holy Cross I would be able to become the best student I can be both academically and as a community member.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I take such pride in being a student at Holy Cross and wanted to show the campus to those who are visiting. Touring colleges is a key step in the college process and I wanted to give students insight into all things Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite experience at Holy Cross so far has been my first day of classes. I was so excited to finally be at the college and could not wait to start learning. I will cherish this day as it signifies the beginning of my time at Holy Cross.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When I visited campus for the first time after my sophomore year of high school, I absolutely loved the campus. A small tight-knit campus community was important to me in choosing a college, and this defines Holy Cross. I loved the idea that anywhere I went, I would be able to see so many familiar faces. Everyone you meet, whether it is in a class or a club, is so welcoming and kind. Also, because I graduated from a Jesuit high school, the idea of attending a Jesuit college like Holy Cross was appealing to me. The value that Holy Cross places both on the importance of academics, as well as spirituality are two components that have been incredibly meaningful to me throughout my entire life.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
In taking a tour at Holy Cross, as well as attending Accepted Students Day, I was able to witness the enthusiasm and love that each and every student volunteer had for the school. I wanted to have the opportunity to be able to show prospective students and their families that same love for the school that I now possess ever since I became a Crusader.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Participating in Choir Week a week before school began has been one of my favorite Holy Cross experiences thus far. While learning the music for both the Mass of the Holy Spirit and Fall Convocation, the choir did other fun activities including a scavenger hunt in the city of Worcester and a movie night in Hogan Campus Center. It was a great way to meet new people, and so many of the individuals who participated in Choir Week are now my closest friends.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because of the bridge between personal and academic growth that the school encourages in each of its students. Small classes, accessible professors, and engaged peers make Holy Cross perfect for anyone who truly wants to make connections in college. I first knew of Holy Cross as I have many family members who are proud alumni. Each and every one of them adored the school and went on to do amazing things after graduating. I hope to have similar success and happiness as them.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide at Holy Cross because I believe that a good (or bad) tour can make a huge difference for prospective students. I still remember my tour of Holy Cross in 2019. That day, I left the tour knowing that Holy Cross was my dream college. I would love to give another future student that same experience!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite Holy Cross experience so far was making a snowman in a snowstorm down by the Jo! I did it with a group of girls I had just met that week in my hall and those same girls are now my very best friends!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite day at Holy Cross was the day we returned to campus after Winter Break. Why did you want to become a tour guide?  I enjoyed my first year at Holy Cross so much and I love sharing that experience with others. I chose to become a tour guide because I wanted to show future Crusaders Holy Cross through my eyes and to help them along the difficult college selection process.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?  One of the highlights of my experience at Holy Cross has been volunteering with Student Programs for Urban Development (SPUD). It's such a fun way to get to know other Holy Cross students that I wouldn't have otherwise met and to give back to the Worcester community.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross for the academic program, the close-knit community (between students, but also with the teachers and alumni), and for the fact that when I toured I could really see myself here on this beautiful campus.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I remember what a big impact tour guides had on me when I was touring colleges and I want prospective students to have just as wonderful a tour of Holy Cross as I did!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Sledding during the winter and dinners with friends.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
For me, Holy Cross was the college that had it all. HC offers rigorous academics, has dedicated and supportive professors, allows students to have a vibrant social life, and emphasizes the Jesuit philosophy of care for the whole person. I fell in love with the College the first time I visited campus and it continues to amaze me each day.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I LOVE Holy Cross and want to share my enthusiasm for HC with other people. I have had only positive experiences during my time here and want others to have a college experience as amazing as mine has been thus far. Holy Cross is truly a special place and I want to help other people see this.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight of my Holy Cross experience thus far has been utilizing the Joyce Contemplative Center, HC's beautiful retreat facility located about 20 minutes away from campus. I had the opportunity to go on the "Escape Retreat" offered to first year students, as well as the "Eat, Pray, Study Retreat" offered during finals.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross instantly stood out to me the first time I stepped on campus as I got an overwhelmingly warm feeling from the community. I could tell the students enjoyed being here and had formed lifelong connections. The large Classics department especially peaked my interest because of my passion for the Classics. After talking to many professors, I saw how invested they were in the students' success.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I greatly enjoy interacting with new people and have been working with admissions throughout my high school and now college career. Tour Guiding was a great way to blend the two together because I want to meet prospective students and share with them my experience at Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
In my first semester, I took "Hinduism" and "The Ethics of Silence". Both of these courses had many similarities in what we were learning which greatly shocked me. However, I found these cross-class connections to be very rewarding to notice.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was looking for three things in my college experience: great academics, great athletics, and a great alumni network. I felt as though Holy Cross offered all of these things, as well something more important that I hadn't previously considered: community. College is a place that you can call home for 4 years. I felt as though I could call Holy Cross my home for the next 40.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I felt like it would be a great opportunity to give back to the place that provided me with such a great opportunity for my education and my future.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I would have to say our football team's victory against Georgetown this past year was one of the highlights of not only the year, but one of the most memorable days of my life as well. It was almost as if I was in movie as we turned a very unlikely outcome into a reality.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to come to Holy Cross for many reasons, but something I particularly love about Holy Cross is the connection between students and professors. It is evident that professors truly care about their students and want them to do well. It just goes to show how strong the Jesuit mission is at Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a Tour Guide because I want to share my love for my school with prospective students and hopefully show them why Holy Cross is such an awesome place.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences has been the food trucks that come on the weekends sometimes. It's always so much fun seeing people getting together, playing games, and eating yummy food.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I choose to attend Holy Cross because the minute I stepped on campus I felt at home. Growing up abroad, people always asked me where I considered my home. The answer I always fell back on was it, "it is where my family is". This changed when I stepped on The Hill for the first time. I had this overwhelming feeling of warmth, kindness, and inclusivity, and immediately knew this was the place for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I choose to become a tour guide because I want to be able to help students and prospective students feel welcomed on campus. In today's society there is a great deal of focus on a student admission to college, while talk about acclimating oneself to a college is overlooked. I want to be able to make this transition easier and more approachable for student who are new to Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences thus far at Holy Cross was my Montserrat class. Transitioning to college course can be challenging, but having one professor for the entirety of the year who is willing to help comes in handy. Further, I was able to make some really good friends in my Montserrat class. Studying with these students and living in the same dorm prompts the development of these friendships.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I excitedly chose Holy Cross for the overly welcoming, friendly, and positive environment the College had to offer. During all of my visits to The Hill, each student and faculty member I interacted with never failed to make me feel right at home. I also love the Jesuit mission of developing students to become men and women for and with others. Service and volunteering have always been of high importance in my life and I knew Holy Cross would provide me with countless opportunities to continue this work.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide not only to share my admiration of and appreciation towards Holy Cross, but also to be able to help prospective students make the very tough and life-changing decision of choosing where to attend college. I know from personal experience that college tours can often be a make or break part of the decision process so I am excited to do my best in representing the college in a positive light and sharing any knowledge and advice I have with students.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When choosing a school, I had three requirements. First, I wanted four seasons. Being that I am from Florida, I wanted to experience weather other than hot and humid. Holy Cross definitely fulfilled this requirement. Second, I wanted a liberal arts school. As a small liberal arts institution, Holy Cross allowed me to separate my interests from my passions. For example, I now know that I do not want to be a Biology major, but I still find it extremely interesting. And third, I loved the sense of community at Holy Cross. Before I attended Admitted Students Day, I was undecided about where I was going. But after I witnessed the enthusiasm of the students, I made my decision to go to Holy Cross. Plus it didn't hurt that my dad is an alumnus.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I decided to become a Tour Guide after spending a semester in the Admissions Outreach Program. In this role, I found that I was proud to be a student at Holy Cross and wanted to share my experiences with future Crusaders.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
So far, my favorite experience at Holy Cross has definitely been late night runs to the Lobby Shop and Cool Beans with my friends. These runs serve two purposes. First, they are a much-needed break from studying in the Mulledy Common Room. And second, it gives me an opportunity to satisfy cravings. However, my dining dollars do not appreciate these runs.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
The first time I saw Holy Cross on Admitted Students Day, I instantly felt a connection. The screaming and overly excited students welcoming me made me realize the pride students have for this school and the desire to share that with other students. Coming from across the country and knowing no one, I was so afraid I wouldn't find my people or fit in, but after just one day on The Hill I knew I would find my home and spot here at Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
When I look back to my college selection experience two years ago, one of the most valuable memories I had was the tours I attended and the tour guides who led them. It was very helpful to have a student there to explain their own experiences at the school instead of just having another brochure or pamphlet to look at or having an admissions staff just talking at me. I wanted to provide that same experience for other prospective students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences was during my first year on campus spending time in the Brooks common room. I met some of my best friends just studying, watching movies, baking cookies, or singing along to J.Lo's halftime performance.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because from the moment I stepped on campus, it felt like home. The small, tight-knit community is like no other, and I really could tell that students felt valued by each other and by their professors. Having such close relationships with faculty and staff if also something I was looking for, and Holy Cross is certainly somewhere where that’s the case. Everyone I’ve met has been so welcoming and has such a passion for all that they do, so I knew this was where I needed to be.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide so that I could share some of the things I love about my favorite place in this world with other people - I cannot say enough about how much I love Holy Cross, it’s the second home I never knew how badly I needed, and I can’t wait to let others know why!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
So far, one of my favorite Holy Cross experiences has been right when the weather turns from winter to spring, and EVERYONE is outside. I love nothing more than walking past the Hoval seeing people playing frisbee, and going for runs through the surrounding neighborhoods with my teammates to then come back and just enjoy the sunshine on the Hill.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because the second I stepped onto campus I knew it was home. Aside from the spectacular reputation and challenging academics, Holy Cross offered me a tight knit community of caring professors and kind students. Coming from a very small, all girls high school I felt that Holy Cross was the perfect size. The individual attention and smaller class sizes create a productive academic environment that truly encourages growth and exploration.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
The moment I knew I wanted to be a tour guide was when I was walking to class one afternoon and saw a tour going on. I wanted to jump in and answer any questions and share my experiences thus far. I love Holy Cross so much and want to share my Holy Cross pride with prospective students and parents.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
By far one of the best Holy Cross experiences I have had thus far was on my birthday. It was the first time I had ever been away from home on that day, but my brand new friends made it one of the most memorable birthdays I have ever had. My roommates took me out to dinner at The Fix, all while a bunch of my friends planned a surprise party back in the Brooks-Mulledy common room. When my roommates and I returned to campus and walked into our dorm, all of my friends jumped up and yelled "Surprise!" They had decorated with a banner, they made a cake, and they all pitched in to buy me a little gift from the bookstore. The kindness, thought, and care that went into this gesture blew me away. This small action, I feel, is indicative of the entire Holy Cross community. We are kind, thoughtful, and care deeply about one another. Choosing to attend Holy Cross was by far the best decision I have ever made.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?  I wanted to become a tour guide because I wanted to pay forward a warm welcome that I received when I first came to Holy Cross! Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I wanted to attend a smaller liberal arts college and Holy Cross seemed like the perfect fit. I also loved the sense of community that I felt on campus when I came for my tour. I liked the way the students described it by saying that Holy Cross was small enough that you were able to see familiar faces around campus, but large enough that you are able to meet a new person every day. I am so glad I choose Holy Cross because it has allowed me to grow in many ways and form amazing connections with those around me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I worked as a tour guide in high school as well and I love being able to be a part of a prospective student's first impression of the school. Whenever I toured colleges I felt like the tour guides played a huge role in my impression of the college and I wanted to be able to provide students with a great first impression of Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A highlight of my Holy Cross experience so far has been the CBL (Community-Based Learning) work that I participated in through my Introduction to Latin course. My class worked to come up with lessons to teach elementary students in Worcester. I loved being able to meet with the younger students and teach them a language that they might not otherwise have the chance to learn and also form connections and act as a mentor to them.

Ever since I toured campus I knew that Holy Cross was the place for me because it instantly felt like home.

I chose Holy Cross because of the sense of community and family I felt when I was on campus. Everyone greeted each other with bright smiles and seemed to challenge each other to open up and become open-minded. Holy Cross serves as one of the top liberal arts school in the country, so I knew that an education from this institution would allow me to be the best humanitarian I can be.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I became a tour guide because when I first visited Holy Cross I was very anxious to learn about the school as efficiently and effectively as possible. I want to be the person that prospective students trust to learn about Holy Cross and all of the endless possibilities the College can offer them.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight from my Holy Cross experience so far is definitely Spring Weekend. This is a period of time each year where the entire campus comes together as a family and enjoys each others' company with good music and food.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross due to the small size of the school. I believe the school's small size contributes positively to the community as well as the academics. I felt right at home at Holy Cross and was so welcomed by the community due to the friendly nature of all the students. Additionally, I believe the small class size contributed to the close relationships students make with their professors as well as leave more opportunity for students to get involved in research programs. It was truly the best of both worlds!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I am very proud to be a Holy Cross student and would like to contribute to the future of Holy Cross in a more meaningful way. I very much enjoyed getting to know all the prospective students and their families while sharing with them the wonderful experiences I have had as a Holy Cross student through my greeting experience as a first year. I can still remember how stressful the college search was and I want to be more involved with the Admission Office to help alleviate that pressure, as well as get students excited about Holy Cross and all of the wonderful things it has to offer.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite experience at Holy Cross thus far was my experience on Spring Break Immersion through the Chaplains Office. I made such wonderful connections with the community members as well as made lifelong friendships with the other Holy Cross students during the trip. It was an amazing feeling to help a community in need and I am grateful for the opportunity to explore rural Virginia. It was truly a life changing experience and positively contributed to my time here at Holy Cross.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross first and foremost for the incredible, energetic community that exists on campus and within the alumni network. I felt very comfortable on Holy Cross' campus during my tour, and could tell from talking with then-current students and alumni that I would be surrounded by driven and compassionate individuals. Academically, I was very drawn to the Jesuit approach to the humanities, and loved that what I was learning would be put in the context of social justice. I could tell that my education from Holy Cross would be something of value that I could use to help others in my future career. Finally, I loved that Holy Cross encourages all students to take the time to explore their academic and personal interests by providing a wide variety of classes, extracurricular activities, and study abroad programs.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My tour of Holy Cross was what piqued my interest in this school, so I would love to be able to pay that forward as a current student who has loved her time here! I hope I can help prospective students see Holy Cross as a place like no other, and as something they want to be a part of.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Because of the remote format, I was not able to meet my fellow Montserrat peers and our professor in person until March of my spring semester. Everyone in my Montserrat class met for breakfast at Cool Beans and walked to class together to commemorate finally being all together in person. What made the morning even better was finally being able to meet our professor in real life, who was such a huge help and support system for us all during the fall semester.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I loved how the school was small, for I highly value reaching out for extra help and I wanted to form connections with my professors. It was ultimately my parents who pushed me to go, for they knew what was best for me, but I have enjoyed every moment of it. In almost every class, during a walk around campus, or in the dining hall there is always a familiar face.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
As a friendly and welcoming person, I always knew wherever I went I would want to be a tour guide, I just so happened to have an amazing experience at the school. I absolutely love Holy Cross and meeting new people, so what better way to show my adoration then to show people around the school while answering questions!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
A Capella has been amazing, for I have made friendships with girls of all years that have the same passion of singing as me. We perform every Monday, and meet numerous times a week, so we all bond quickly and have each other as a small family on campus.

One of my favorite experiences at Holy Cross so far has been the Montserrat program. My Montserrat course was a food-based history course, in which we discussed various topics such as the origins of certain foods, the issues with ultra-processed foods, and how our food choices impact the environment. I wanted to become a part of this community that was so proud of their school and so excited to welcome me into it. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross for the exceptional well-rounded academic programs rooted in Jesuit traditions. As a high school senior, I was overwhelmed by the thought of having to declare my major on a college application; Holy Cross relieves that stress by having all students begin their college experience undeclared to allow time to discover what you are truly passionate about. I also loved how Holy Cross puts a significant focus on the Jesuit principle of "cura personalis" or "care for the whole person". At Holy Cross you are not just getting an education; you're getting a life-long family that will encourage and support you!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a campus tour guide because of the amazing tour and admissions experiences I had when applying to Holy Cross. I remember how daunting choosing your home for the next four years can be, especially coming all from all the way from California. I want to help prospective students fall in love with the amazing campus and community just as I did!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite experience at Holy Cross so far was during my class's first semester on campus in January of 2021. There had just been a huge snowstorm and my entire class headed down to freshman field one afternoon when classes were over and went sledding down all of the hills. It was the first real time we had all bonded since we were online during our first fall semester. It was so much fun sharing sleds and getting to know my fellow classmates!

Holy Cross has always felt like home. The Jesuit mission of men and women for and with others is at the forefront of Holy Cross' student life and I believe that allows students to not only grow academically, but also as a person.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I am passionate about all that Holy Cross has to offer and find it a privilege to be able to share this with prospective students and families. The tour I took gave me my first look at the incredibly enthusiastic community of Holy Cross and I wanted to be able to show this to others.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Joining the music department at Holy Cross has given me a family within the community of the school. Performing throughout campus and in the greater Worcester area has allowed me to connect more fully with the Holy Cross community and mission.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I am a homebody at heart.  I was so worried about going away to college, but as soon as I stepped foot on campus and immediately felt at peace and that HC could be my home away from home. I knew through my interactions with students and faculty that it was the right place for me. The community at HC is like no other!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a Tour Guide to be a part of other prospective students' college journeys. I knew on my tour that HC was the right place for me and I would love to offer that to other students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Most of my favorite Holy Cross experiences are through the Chaplain's Office. I love retreats and even though we were a community dispersed for most of 2020, the chaplains still managed to continue their retreats and events remotely. In Sept. 2020 I started meeting with an all women's retreat group once a week, and it has been the most incredible experience. We have met every week all year long and most weeks this group is my saving grace. Studying remotely is very isolating, but this group reminds me how much I love the HC community. I love my soul squads sisters and could not imagine this past year without them!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was the first school I toured, and I left The Hill that day saying that I did not need to look any further. After 15 college applications, the instant love and connection that I felt with Holy Cross remained with me. It was the perfect fit. Choosing Holy Cross has been the best decision that I have ever made.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I love this school, and I hope to inspire the same love for Holy Cross that I felt on my tour.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences was the first warm spring day on campus. My first year on The Hill was unusual with the limitations brought by COVID-19. On that day, students were walking around campus and relaxing on the Hoval. They were studying, eating, and playing games together. There were sounds of laughter and many smiles, which could be seen even under masks. For the first time in nearly a year, I felt a sense of normalcy. I remember thinking how perfectly that day seemed to symbolize what Holy Cross is all about: making memories with good friends and enjoying the beautiful campus that we all call home.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
It really came down to class size for me. I love being a face and a name, not just a number. The classes are small enough where forming connections with other students and the professors isn’t just attainable, but natural. The people at Holy Cross, students and staff alike, have a tangible passion for this school and it is amazing to be a part of a community like that. I knew I would feel cared for here, and that has only proven more true as I continue my experience at the College.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
The summer before I got into the school, I went on a tour at Holy Cross. It really, sincerely made up my mind about wanting to come here. I just remember seeing so many students waving and smiling at each other, and it showed me how friendly and accepting this campus is. I wanted to be a tour guide because I wanted to see other students fall in love with Holy Cross just like I did, and I am so excited to be a part of that.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite memory so far is the first seventy degree day we had on campus this spring. The semester had been pretty isolating before that, with COVID restrictions dictating a whole lot of what we could and could not do, but on that first seventy degree day, everyone was outside (socially distanced with masks) and campus felt alive. Seeing so many students sitting on the green grass reminded me that I am part of a much bigger community, live on a beautiful campus, and that there are friendly faces all around.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
As a senior in high school, I wanted to choose a college that would support me in asking the big questions and help form my understanding of the world around me in various contexts. After touring, applying, and hearing first hand accounts of the life changing moments on Mount St. James, I was all in. Holy Cross offers a unique experience of encountering others in the real world and encountering our truest and deepest selves.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I'll never forget my tour of Holy Cross. It was pouring rain and it was slated to be a really difficult tour. My tour guide Sarah did not let the weather diminish her spirit of joy about Holy Cross. Ever since then I knew I wanted to share the joy of Holy Cross to prospective students!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The best Holy Cross experience I ever had was the short live musical from ACT called Bare: A Pop Opera. Sadly, the pandemic cut our rehearsal and performance process short, but I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the ways in which that show altered my life. I met my best friends in that show and when we were sent home to social distance, we spoke every day. A lot has changed for each of us, but our friendship is still rock solid!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the kind, tight-knit community evident throughout the (many) tours I took as a high school senior. The pride that all members of the Holy Cross community have for their school was evident during my visits, and I was eager to become a part of it. Additionally, a liberal arts education was crucial to me, especially since I have so many different interests I wanted to study going into college.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
While touring colleges during my senior year of high school, the tour guide was a crucial factor in forming my opinion of a school. Whether positive or negative, the school’s tour guide had a major impact on my decision making for the college search process. As such, I am eager to represent the school I have grown so proud of and share my love for the College of the Holy Cross with prospective students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite Holy Cross experience thus far has been the opportunity to participate in the Community-Based Learning (CBL) program as part of my Montserrat course. I was placed at Brookdale Eddy Pond, a senior living facility in Auburn, MA, where I spoke with a senior, Chris, throughout the duration of my freshman year. During our weekly visits, Chris and I grew very close speaking about his ongoing sundial project and life in general. Hearing from Chris that our conversations are consistently the best part of his week represents the power of the CBL program at Holy Cross.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the amazing people here. Every time I toured campus, I was met with another friendly face who was not only willing to talk to me but excited to do so. After my second tour, I met a senior who talked to me about all things Holy Cross; she was not my tour guide, but just someone I ran into while walking across campus. She did not need to spend so much time talking with me, but she wanted to. After leaving that day, we kept in touch and I ultimately told her when I got accepted. I quickly realized that this passion and kindness was completely unique and special to Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
While taking tours, I always put myself in the tour guides’ shoes, trying to fully grasp what it would be like to attend that particular school. My tour guides at Holy Cross were personable and so genuinely excited about their time on campus, causing me to fall in love with the school even more. So, I wanted to be this face for prospective students and help them fall in love with the school that has given me so much.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The first warm day on campus this past spring has to be my favorite memory. Seeing everyone outside enjoying the sunshine gave campus such a happy and inviting feeling, even more so than usual. It was the perfect refresh after a cold winter and a kick start to the stretch until summer.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Being from Texas, I didn’t know about Holy Cross until my junior year in high school. At that time, I found several Jesuit institutions to visit, but the minute I stepped onto this campus, my college decision was made. During that visit, I was captivated by the small campus feel, friendly atmosphere, and beautiful architectural buildings. My love of Holy Cross grew steadily from a picture on the internet to a campus visit and then ultimately to a commitment to attend as a member of the Class of 2024. I would have never thought that I would want to go so far away from home for college, but I truly believe that Holy Cross is a special place and one that I had to attend.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I want to be a Tour Guide in order to share my story with potential students because I hope they will find a new home on the campus as I once did. Overall, this school has a provided me with an excellent education and a sense of community amongst my friends. I would love to share my experiences with others who are interested in coming to Holy Cross, as well as answer their questions as they tour Mount St. James.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
During the spring semester of 2021 I had the opportunity to experience a Holy Cross football game for the first time. Although I was still in a Covid-19 environment, I had a great time cheering on the Holy Cross players. I was surrounded by my best friends (met during my first year), fellow Holy Cross students, and football parents. This football game made me feel like a true member of the Holy Cross community as we sang football chants and cheered for the team.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because I wanted a strong academic community that was not spread across multitudes of students, but embodied in a familial few. When I originally walked around campus, it was obvious how the students knew, acknowledged, and celebrated one another. To me, this made the school feel like not only a place for intellectual growth, but for lifelong growth as well.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross is like second home to me and I wanted to share this community and campus with prospective students as a Tour Guide. I am so proud to be a Crusader and am honored to show students all there is to love about Mount St. James. Being a Tour Guide is a way for me to give back to a school that has already given me so much and I love being able to express the joy of Holy Cross with others!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences was seeing the campus come alive during the first warm day after a chilly winter. It was so special to watch the flowers blossom and ivy grow as students studied, laughed, and enjoyed the outdoors together.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?  I visited Holy Cross four times and each time I stepped on campus the sense of community only felt stronger. One of my visits included an Spring Overnight and that was the moment I made my final decision that I wanted to come to Holy Cross. My host was wonderful. She was so welcoming and showed me so many things and also explained how much Holy Cross offers. The other very appealing aspect is the incredibly strong alumni network. During my visits to Holy Cross I heard many stories about how invested the alumni network is as a whole, with their willingness to help Holy Cross students land internships and jobs. This is important to me and it made me really want to become part of the tight-knit community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?  When I was visiting colleges, the institutions that stood out were the ones where the tour guides were open, genuine, and vulnerable. This type of experience is something a prospective student cannot obtain from a website or a booklet. It is only made possible through a tour with an energetic and personable student who engages the visitors with funny, comforting, and inspiring stories. I want to create that type of experience for prospective students.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?  My Holy Cross tour guide made such a difference in my experience here as a prospective student and then was a friendly face to me around campus during the first few weeks of school. I would like to be that friendly face for prospective (and hopefully future) students here at HC.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?  One highlight of my experience here was participating in the Community-Based Learning component for my Spanish class where I assisted a teacher in a classroom for English Language Learners in the Worcester Public Schools.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was undeniably in my blood. The minute I stepped on campus it felt like I had arrived home. It was one of my final tours, and I kept waiting for the magic feeling that I had found the right school and Holy Cross was it. Everyone who attends Holy Cross is a Crusader for life, the purple pride, amazing professors, and big school resources coming from a smaller school are some of the most impressive factors of Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I'm always talking about my love for Holy Cross so I am thrilled to share my passion with prospective students! Having an enthusiastic tour guide played a huge role in my choice to attend Holy Cross and I'm hoping to provide that excitement for others!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences at HC has definitely been sledding down the hills during the wild snowstorms! Looking out into the halls and seeing everyone grabbing plastic bins, trash can lids lids, and pretty much anything else that could aid you down the hill and running outside is the best! Getting to race down the hills with your friends and seeing everyone outside together truly feels like the classic college experience!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I was drawn to Holy Cross for the liberal arts education and the community. The ability to take a variety of courses across my various academic interests while also majoring in a discipline I was passionate about attracted me to Holy Cross. I felt that the Jesuit motto of becoming men and women for and with others was emphasized both in the classroom and in the campus body as well. I was immediately welcomed into the Holy Cross community on my visits to Holy Cross, by both the students and faculty. Both the academic opportunities and sense of community I felt on campus are why I chose to attend Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I became a Tour Guide because I wanted to welcome prospective students to campus the same way that I was welcomed to Holy Cross when I was a prospective student. The interactions I had with current students around campus while I was visiting Holy Cross made me feel like I was already part of the campus community. I wanted to become a Tour Guide to welcome prospective students the same way that I was and introduce them to the Holy Cross community.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite experiences at Holy Cross thus far have been my Spring Break Immersion trips. During both my first and second years, I traveled with a group of Holy Cross students to immerse ourselves within different Appalachian sites and engage in service projects. Getting to know these communities, in addition to bonding with other Holy Cross students, made these trips my favorite moments in my Holy Cross career thus far.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When I was looking for schools, I knew that I wanted something that would offer me a small, easy to work in environment and Holy Cross fit perfectly. Their variety of both academic programs and student involvement opportunities were just a few of the things that I was intrigued by and after a few visits and a campus tour, I knew that it was the right place for me. The entire campus had such a welcoming feeling to it and it made the decision to come here quite easy.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide so I could give prospective students the same experiences and feelings that I had when I first came onto this campus. My tour guide was so excited to share with his group what he loved about the campus and I knew that I wanted to do the same. A visit to campus is one of the best ways to learn about all that a school has to offer and I feel that it is a privilege to be able to tell others what I love about Holy Cross.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite Holy Cross experience thus far was my trip to Louisville Kentucky through the Spring Break Immersion Program. I went into the trip feeling a bit discouraged that I would not be going home for break, but ended the week long trip knowing that I had definitely made the right decision to go.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross checked all of my boxes! The school was close to home, but it wasn’t close enough for my parents to come visit me every week. As I was applying to colleges, money was a huge factor in my decision making. Holy Cross gave me a lot of scholarship money and made sure that I’d be able to afford to come. I also grew up in small schools and wanted a college that had a close knit community where professors would know who I am.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
When I was going on tours my junior year of high school, I always relied on the tours of each school. When I toured at Holy Cross, it was pouring out, but my tour guide still made me see the beauty in the school. Not only did they inform me of all the great things about the liberal art college, they made me see myself walking this campus and being here the next four years. I want to be able to do the same for other potential students and make a difference in their decision making when choosing a college for their next chapter in life.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite experiences so far is participating in SPUD. Every week I went to the Friendly House and volunteered to mentor students from low income families around the community. I formed a lot of close relations with the kids and it always brightened my day whenever I saw how excited they got when I arrived at the Friendly House.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
The three most important things that drew me to Holy Cross were its size, values, and the liberal arts education style. I have always gone to small schools and have loved the personal relationships that I have been able to form with my teachers. My siblings both attended Jesuit schools and I have long admired the values that they instill in each of their students, particularly community and respect. Lastly, I am still unsure of what I want to major in, so I wanted a school that offered me a well-rounded education before I had to decide a career path.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I was involved with the admissions program at my high school and my favorite part about it was seeing people that I gave a tour to attending my school the next year. I wanted to continue this at Holy Cross because I love meeting new people and learning more about their interests while sharing my own.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My first week here on campus was absolutely freezing, and after a few days in January 2021 it finally snowed. Everyone ran outside that night with anything they could find and we all went sledding down the hill together. It was such a great way to meet new people and take part in an age-old tradition here at Holy Cross!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I love Holy Cross for a multitude of reasons.  I love the campus, the small student body size, the professor to student ratio, the athletic community, and living in New England, just to name a few.  When I came to visit in the spring, I was able to attend a track meet at the end of the day and meet many of the coaches and guys on the team while watching them compete.  After having spent the day on campus I already knew this was where I wanted to spend the next 4 years, and the opportunity to immerse myself in the track community and meet the guys who would become my teammates and family really sealed the deal for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I am a proud member of both the HC Men’s Track and Field team and NROTC, so I am a dedicated member of the Holy Cross community and I love giving back to this community.  I helped create and operate a student tour guide program at my high school and thoroughly enjoyed my time leading prospective students and families on tours around campus and answering their questions.  Knowing how important a school visit can be in the decision making process, it was always very rewarding as a high school tour guide to see new faces each fall that had previously been in my tour groups.  My visit to Holy Cross was an extremely critical part of my decision to attend this school, and I believe in the “love at first sight” aspect in the decision making process as well as the power of a first impression.  I wanted to be a part of this process and experience for our potential new Saders.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite memories from school so far was the Track Banquet my freshman year.  When we learned of the disappointing news that we would be going home for the rest of the academic year in just a few days in March, the juniors were able to put together a celebration for the seniors so they would still be able to get their proper send-off from the team even though our season was cut short.  Having this opportunity for one last goodbye to our seniors, facilitated by the juniors, really showed me how close-knit of a family our team was and how important we were to each other.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Holy Cross was the first college I visited, my expectations were high, and Holy Cross met all of my expectations and some. While touring the College, the students were so friendly and kind, and I realized these were the types of people I would like to surround myself with. I also really appreciated the liberal arts education provided at Holy Cross and surrounding myself with other hardworking and academically driven students.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
When I toured Holy Cross, the tour guide had similar interests as me, and I saw how happy she was at Holy Cross, and I almost saw myself in her. I wanted to become a tour guide because I would like to have the chance to express my love and happiness at Holy Cross to future college students and if they can see themselves belonging at Holy Cross through my tour.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Thus far, one of my favorite Holy Cross experiences was the College Transition Program (CTP) and Mentor Program. Since I am a first-generation student, these programs allowed me to bond with other students similar to me and feel welcomed. I have met some of the most extraordinary people of all ages. I have also enjoyed meeting other campus faculty and staff involved in the Office of Multicultural Education, who have greatly enlightened my first year at Holy Cross with all the support they provide.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
There is no doubt that the first thing you notice when arriving on campus is the sheer beauty of it. Of course, this is the first impression I got as well. Holy Cross is far more than just a beautiful campus though. The academic reputation and sense of community, both current students and alumni, are what really persuaded me to attend Holy Cross. The pure enjoyment and happiness that you see is contagious and I couldn't help but be a part of it.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide to share my amazing experiences and love for Holy Cross with prospective students. A tour guide can help students greatly and I definitely experienced this first hand. I want to be able to share everything that Holy Cross has to offer and help students in the often daunting college decision process.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite experience at Holy Cross has been participating in a mentoring program at Plumley Village through SPUD. Engaging with the Worcester community has been quite fulfilling and something I would look forward to each week. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When I was looking at colleges, I knew that I wanted to go to a school that had phenomenal academics where I could really work with my professors individually on topics I cared about. Having gone to a Jesuit high school, I also was drawn to Jesuit schools because of their core values and commitment to social justice and making the world a better place. I also wanted to go to a school where there was a really welcoming community in which I would really find my place and thrive. Sure, you can find a lot of those things individually at many schools, but Holy Cross was truly the only school where I could find all of them.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I remember when I was in the middle of college applications, I was constantly bombarded with thousands of emails and pamphlets, to the point that it became information overload of sorts. The one thing that really helped me to get a feel for a school's campus and community, more than anything else, was the tours that I had. I've loved every minute of my time so far at Holy Cross, and I wanted the opportunity to share that with prospective students and show them why Holy Cross is such a great place.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
So far, I've really enjoyed my Montserrat class. I've always been interested in politics and international studies, so I was really surprised when I was placed in a class that focused on Latin American Art and Cinema. The fact that I don't take Spanish either didn't help. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this class became one of my favorite, as I talked about so many topics and poignant issues from film and art criticism to race and the rights of indigenous peoples in Latin America. It really opened my eyes to a whole host of issues that I hadn't spent a lot of time with before, and to be able to talk about and discuss them with my small class was really great.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Apart from the academic prestige associated with the college, I chose to attend Holy Cross for several reasons. Primarily, the community surrounding Holy Cross is unlike no other. The bond that is formed both among the students and between the faculty and the students is something that I feel is unique to Holy Cross. Everyone is truly looking out for each other at all times and the faculty are always willing to help you with whatever you need. Next, the campus is absolutely stunning regardless of the weather. Even on gloomy days, Holy Cross still manages to look beautiful. Lastly, Holy Cross felt like home from the minute I stepped on campus. Everyone is so welcoming and truly wants you to join the community which was very different from many of my college tours.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide to showcase our incredible school and allow other people to witness our community.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Choosing a college to attend was one of the biggest decisions I have had to make in my life though the strong sense of community, academic and student life, and beautiful campus at Holy Cross made me feel at home. From not knowing much about Holy Cross to wearing a shirt with our logo on it and being recognized everywhere I go, I understood the amazing community that exists up on the hill and felt at home being apart of it. Coming from a Jesuit high school in New York, I also wanted to continue my academic career under the mottos of Magis, or striving for more, as well as being a person for others, something I could find at Holy Cross. Now as a rising senior, I can reaffirm that choosing to attend Holy Cross was one of the best transformative experiences of my life.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I have wanted to become a tour guide so I could share all my positive experiences at Holy Cross with prospective students hoping they too can see why this is the college for them. As a rising senior, I can still remember how stressful the college search was as an incoming first year student. I want to be more involved with the Admission Office to help alleviate that pressure, as well as share the same impactful experience my first tour around Holy Cross was on my decision process.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I find it hard to just have one favorite experience at Holy Cross as I could list off so many. Other than the endless opportunities to participate in student life, going out and exploring the local area of Worcester, or even the long lasting friendships made in programs like Montserrat, I found a home at the Career Development Center and the amazing team of people there that have aided and guided me towards the positions and opportunities I have today.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for the great academics and small campus community! When I visited campus, I knew I wanted to be a part of the small, close-knit community here at Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I became a tour guide so I could show potential students the reasons I love Holy Cross and help them decide where they see themselves for the next four years! My tour guide at Holy Cross was a huge factor in my decision to come to school here, and I want to help other students love Holy Cross in the same way!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite Holy Cross experience thus far has been Montserrat. The first-year seminar course welcomed me to campus and helped me meet some of my closest friends. By living with my Montserrat cluster, I found my best friends and future roommates. As well, by meeting with my class all year, I found my passion for philosophy and a great mentor in my professor. Montserrat helped me adjust to campus and learn to call Holy Cross my home!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
After participating in the Visions overnight program, I knew that Holy Cross was the place for me! I was able to see the emphasis that Holy Cross places on being a well-rounded individual. I knew that Holy Cross’s rigorous environment would test my capabilities, that its multitude of courses would allow me to explore and grow. Along with this, I knew that a Jesuit education would allow me to become closer to myself and those around me. The best thing about it all is that Holy Cross accepts and supports students from all faiths and backgrounds. One doesn’t have to be Catholic to be a spiritual person and reflect on life. Our Jesuit education embraces all of our differences and helps us come together to understand one another. Holy Cross offers everything that I could ever want in a college!

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
If it weren’t for the students that volunteered as tour guides and overnight hosts around a year ago, I probably wouldn’t be a student at this institution and be the person who I am today. I would be honored to even be the slightest part of the reason that someone chooses to become a Crusader. I do it because someone did it for me and I want to pay it forward in any and every way possible.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Going to Colorado through the Spring Break Immersion Program has been the best experience I’ve had at Holy Cross thus far! I was able to spend a week with other Crusaders I hadn’t had the pleasure of meeting until then. We all bonded over our experience of learning and helping out a community during this break. We had a ton of talks, laughs, and other fun memories that will stay with us forever. It was an incredible experience which I’ll continue to build upon with other immersion trips throughout my college career!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I went to a Jesuit High school and fell in love with the values and experiences that came with a Jesuit education. I felt that Holy Cross fit those values, but I could tell they went above and beyond. I loved the way that education at holy cross is not just restricted to the classroom, I felt that I would be educated as a whole person. This was reflected in both my admissions process and the community which I experienced when visiting campus. I immediately knew that I would come out of my four years with much more than a diploma.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Holy Cross quickly became a home to me after my first semester on campus, and the students are what make the community so amazing. I wanted to both share the community with others and help be a part of its growth.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My Spring Break Immersion to Camden, New Jersey was definitely my favorite experience at Holy Cross so far. I was able to become involved with the amazing community in Camden and create relationships with Holy Cross students who I otherwise may have never known!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Exceptional academics in the form of a small, liberal arts, Jesuit institution would provide me with the means and support to explore my interests and succeed. This is what Holy Cross stands for and paired with its welcoming community, it easily became my first choice.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
As early as my personal essay in my college application, I've wanted to find a community that would support me, but more importantly, one that I could contribute back to. Holy Cross has given me opportunities that I couldn’t have found in many other places, so I want to share my experience and hopefully show prospective students what makes Holy Cross so special.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The last day of classes during second semester of this past year, the school had a fireworks show and I was able to watch it with a group of friends just outside the Luth. It was a great way to celebrate the end of the year and a great memory to have going into fall 2021.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because of their equal dedication to academics and community. Holy Cross students are passionate about creating a welcoming environment on and off campus. That sense of collaboration instead of competition among students is what makes this school so unique. When deciding on what college to attend in my senior year of high school, I found that Holy Cross was one of the only schools that had staff and students willing to answer any and all questions I had during the decision process. Communication and commitment to students both inside and outside the classroom are features of Holy Cross that I valued when deciding to attend.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I thought it would be a good way to interact with future Holy Cross students and families. I wanted to be able to share some of my experience when deciding to apply and attend Holy Cross. I know that the college search, application, and decision process can be tedious and daunting. Having gone through it myself and ending up at Holy Cross, I hope to be able to share some of what I have learned to make that process a little less stressful for prospective students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences so far has been seeing every student crawl out from their dorms as soon as the temperature outside climbs above 65 degrees. When the weather is nice and students are enjoying the sunshine and lack of snow, you can feel the excitement and energy become reinvigorated in students and staff.

I chose to attend Holy Cross because of the community it provided to its students. I love the ability to walk around campus and always run into people that I know and the ability to form close relationships with my professors due to smaller class sizes.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a Tour Guide so that I could share my love for Holy Cross with other families and prospective students. One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences this far was sledding down Freshman Field the first night of my sophomore semester back on campus. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I wanted a small school with a strong community and Holy Cross is just that. I felt an immediate connection when I stepped on campus and everyone I talked to was so warm and welcoming. I knew it was a place where I could truly explore all of my interests and grow as an academic, as well as a person. While I consider myself a fairly indecisive person, choosing Holy Cross was one of the easiest (and best!) decisions I've ever made.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I've found a second home at Holy Cross. Despite being from Wisconsin, I've rarely ever felt homesick. I want to share what I love about my second home with prospective students. Choosing where to attend college can be such a daunting choice and I want to help with that decision. I had such a great tour experience at Holy Cross and I want other students to have just as great of an introduction to the college as I did.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
I absolutely loved my Montserrat class! My entire class got so close and comfortable with each other throughout the year. My professor was so good at making us feel welcome at the college. We were able to foster such great conversations and really dove into the content of the class. We also attended a concert, workshops, went on walks, and participated in other group activities that really enhanced the class experience. That class helped me understand what a liberal arts education really is and made me truly feel apart of the Holy Cross community!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
About 10 minutes into my tour of campus, my mom and I looked at each other and knew that this was the school for me. From the short time I had been on campus, I could already tell that Holy Cross fostered a community of kindness, and giving back, two things of the upmost importance to me. In addition, the size, location and programs available here were exactly what I wanted and more. You won't be alone at Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I remember how kind and knowledgeable my tour guide was, which really allowed me to fall in love with the school even more! I would love to do that for someone else and be one of the reasons they come to this wonderful school. If I can share the great experience I have had, I know it will help incoming college students feel like this institution is a safe, welcoming environment.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Having started my Holy Cross career online and then coming to campus in the spring of 2021, I definitely have had a unique experience. Honestly, my most memorable experience so far has been creating a wonderful group of friends who I know I can count on always. What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
During March of my freshman year, we were lucky enough to have composer Tania Leon come to campus. She gave a guest lecture in my music theory class, and also worked with both the band and the choir before we performed a selection of her work later that evening. My first year on The Hill I had the privilege to attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Black Student Union. I was able to see firsthand how the BSU brings to the HC campus a long-standing tradition of unity and community. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy Cross because of the amazing community that we have on campus. The second I got here for my tour back in my junior year, I immediately felt like I belonged and found the place I wanted to call home. The professors here genuinely want to know about you and your passions, interests, and life, rather than just seeing you as just a name or number. The students here look out for one another, and we support each other in all of our endeavors. I couldn’t have picked a better school values my personal talents and allows me to share them with the world and our Holy Cross community.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I want to become a Tour Guide because I want to have an impact on prospective families and students visits to campus. I remember how influential the tour guides were in my decision to attend HC and I want to have the ability to make other students as passionate about Holy Cross as I am. Also, I am a very social and outgoing person, so being a tour guide would give me the opportunity to chat with families and share everything I love about this amazing community!!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite HC memories has to be the first tailgate I went to in the fall of 2019. It was the end of the crazy first week of being a first year student, and I had always heard about how fun the tailgates were from my friends who were upperclassmen. I remember walking down and overlooking Freshman Field to see rows upon rows of cars lined up along the grass, and I was so excited. The entire morning was a blast, seeing so many HC alumni coming out and supporting their alma mater with their families. It really showed me how amazing the community was at HC and how supportive we all are of each other!

My tour guide discussed how professors have close relationships with their students and this really stood out to me. I also loved how Holy Cross students were so friendly and all waved hello to me as we walked around.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I initially considered Holy Cross because it met the general criteria that I was looking for - small, liberal arts, proximity to my hometown - but ultimately chose to attend because of the Jesuit educational experience and the people. When I visited campus to shadow a student, I was struck by the sense of belonging that I received from students and professors alike who were genuinely interested in talking to me and making me feel comfortable. This experience highlighted Holy Cross students’ innate curiosity, kindness, and ability to form a strong community, which I am grateful to be a part of today.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide so I could help other families and high school students learn about Holy Cross and whether it is the right fit for them. When I was in their shoes, I really appreciated the time and effort that tour guides took to answer questions, and I know their attitudes impacted the way that I viewed each school. I remember my Holy Cross tour guides being very enthusiastic about life on the hill and I hope to be able to represent the school in the same manner!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?

I wanted to become a Tour Guide because I wanted to be a first point of contact in welcoming prospective students into the Holy Cross community. There is a lot to love about Holy Cross, and I want to demonstrate why this community is right for prospective students and how they would fit right into the community.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
My favorite Holy Cross experience thus far would be the getting to enjoy both the beautiful Holy Cross campus, as well as get to know Worcester and New England. Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
In July of my senior year of high school, I attended the Summer Research Tour which highlighed student's research projects. The experience of seeing the opportunities students were given at Holy Cross not only engaged me but motivated me to apply Early Decision. Afterwards, my experience with the History department when visiting campus was incredibly positive. Admissions saw my interest in the subject even before applying and set me up with a student who could share their experience and help me envision myself on campus. This personalized touch made Holy Cross stand out to me as other colleges I visited seemed more focused around statistics.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
My experience at Holy Cross has already been filled with some of the best moments of my life. I remember how stressful the college process can be, and I joined Admissions as a Greeter to provide a relatable experience to prospective students and urge them to seriously consider Holy Cross. This combined with my adoration for our campus at all times of the year are why I jumped at the opportunity to become a Tour Guide.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
Montserrat was an incredibly positive experience for me. My cluster events helped me meet members of my class right away who were interested in similar things, and those connections were also tied to my residence hall. Going random worried me, but the Program enables first year students to meet students right away and begin to feel acclimated to a very new environment. Also, my Montserrat seminar provided me with one course which I always felt excited to attend, with students that were all going through similar experiences as I was.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the fun atmosphere on campus, its size and location, and the Jesuit learning experience that it provides. I felt that I would be a good fit for Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to be a tour guide because I want to make an impact on the people who look at Holy Cross. Also, I love showing my experiences on The Hill to perspective students.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite parts about HC so far was my first year Montserrat class. In this class, we explored all around Worcester. This was really cool for me because I am from out of town, so seeing and learning about my new home was interesting.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
Since I was making my college decision during COVID-19 lockdown, I was unable to attend any in-person accepted students days or make campus visits. Speaking with current students was the largest factor in my decision. Holy Cross students were by far the most welcoming, passionate, and enthusiastic. Through conversations with current students and members of my local alumni chapter, as well as the academic rigor and reputation of the school, it was clear that Holy Cross was the right fit for me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to be a tour guide because I remember how important first impressions were as a prospective student! I want other students to feel the enthusiasm, passion, and spirit of the Holy Cross community from the very first time they set foot on campus.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences was competing in my first Mock Trial tournament. Even though the competition was virtual, I felt such a strong connection with my teammates and coach and it made me so excited to be back competing in person!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose to attend Holy cross for two main reasons: the academic opportunities and the strong sense of community. With an average class size of nineteen, I wanted the opportunity to connect with professors and peers while engaging deeply with course material. I believe the liberal arts education creates not only a well-rounded education, but also a well-rounded individual who can pursue any career after graduation. Additionally, I felt an overwhelming sense of camaraderie the many times I visited campus prior to applying. I wanted to attend an institution where I was more than just a number but rather a member of a community that truly cares about one another.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I believe a tour guide is an integral part of a prospective student’s first impression of a college campus. It was my tour guide who was instrumental in my decision to attend Holy Cross. I aspired to share all the great experiences I’ve had and be an influential component to their college decision. As “men and women for and with others,” I wanted the experience of giving back to my community that has provided me with so many great memories.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my Holy Cross experience would be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky through the Spring Break Immersion program my sophomore year. It allowed me to think critically and understand issues beyond my own community and gave me an increased motivation to continue giving back. I will always cherish the people I met and the incredible lessons I learned throughout that week!

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because the people here are so kind and genuine. Even though it is a rigorous school, having great people around makes it easier. Also, the school works very hard on diversity and it shows. There are plenty of outlets to find people from the same background as you and to learn about other people. Everyone is here to learn, not just academically, but also socially and culturally. The people are what make Holy Cross the great place that it is. I've learned so much in just the past year and I am so grateful.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I already love talking about Holy Cross as is. Every chance I get I am talking about the school. I want to make sure that all prospective students are getting a true feel for what Holy Cross is like as they make their important college decision.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
The highlight of my Holy Cross experience so far has been the CASA Fashion Show. It was so nice to have my entire Montserrat class show up in support. Also, partaking in a show with all my friends to celebrate our shared identity was such an unforgettable experience that I am very grateful for.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross because of the amazing sense of community and the emphasis on service. The people who are part of the Holy Cross community are so positive and go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable. That was the exact type of community I was looking for, so I chose Holy Cross.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because of the impact that guides had on me. I want to make sure that everyone touring Holy Cross has a positive experience and can see themselves belonging at this school just as I did.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my Holy Cross experience so far was the Community-Based Learning part of my Educational Psychology class. I loved being able to go into Worcester and tutor elementary school kids because it allowed me to further immerse myself in Worcester and to learn through real life experiences.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
When looking for a college, I not only wanted a place to grow emotionally, mentally, and academically but an atmosphere that would feel like a home. When I took my first steps on Mount Saint James, I remember thinking that this is where I wanted to be. Throughout high school, my heart desired to belong at Holy Cross because I knew HC was the college where I could meet fellow students who brought their vastly different ideas and history to the table, forge friendships filled with support and discover professors as dedicated as myself to the advancement of my studies.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become a tour guide because I love Holy Cross more than one can imagine. I wanted to show prospective students that Holy Cross is not just a home but, a family. All of the faculty, staff, and students want you to expand your horizons on every front. Moreover, I wanted to honor the idea that we are men and women for and with others. If I volunteered as a tour guide I knew that I would be cherishing and representing Holy Cross’s Jesuit mission at its heart. I hope that as a tour guide that I may manage and inform prospective students and parents of Holy Cross’s plentiful opportunities and supportive climate.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One of my favorite Holy Cross experiences thus far has been participating in the Washington D.C. Semester Away program. During the pandemic, I interned remotely at the National Center for Victims of Crime. Despite having a remote internship, I was still able to work in the nonprofit sector and gain insight into various types of crimes and methods to help the victims/survivors. I also worked on the VictimConnect Hotline, a victim-centered training and resources toolkit, and grants as well as attended various conferences and meetings related to victim advocacy and rights. I was able to integrate my passion for disability rights and former offenders' rights through my thesis. I wrote my thesis on the application of the ADA in the prison context for disabled offenders. I addressed the gaps in the ADA and provided my own solutions on how to amend them. Overall, I found this experience to be not only educational, but directional in my career path.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
With the overall cost of education, I never thought that I would be able to attend Holy Cross. I was prepared to settle for my second choice which was quite far from home. I had already fallen in love with Holy Cross’ gorgeous campus, its location in a major city, and the fact that everyone in the community is here to support you, welcome you, and watch you succeed. When I heard back from Holy Cross, amidst the start of the pandemic, and received a much larger scholarship than I had ever dreamed of, I could not move half-way across the country to settle for my second choice. I chose Holy Cross and in the end, Holy Cross also chose me.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I am really good at walking backwards! But seriously, I would take any opportunity to boast about Holy Cross and talk about how much I love it. I am proud to be a Crusader and am so excited to share that with prospective students and families.

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
With my first semester of first year being remote, it finally felt like college was real as soon as Kimball Dining Hall finally opened for dine-in during my second semester. Being able to sit down with my friends and new peers, enjoying a meal together, and getting to know one another is what college is all about.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
I chose Holy Cross for a variety of reasons. One of the biggest reasons why, on top of amazing the quality of academics are here, is a sense of community I did not see anywhere else. The community at Holy Cross is the best you will find at any school. Everyone here is accepting and regardless of a person's background you will be accepted with open arms into the Holy Cross community. As a Jewish student at Holy Cross, I've always felt like I'm part of the community and I've never felt like I didn't belong. Holy Cross is a special place filled with amazing people and top notch professors.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
I wanted to become tour guide because ever since I've gotten on campus I always wanted to share how amazing my experiences have been so far at Holy Cross. And what better way to do that than becoming a tour guide and showing prospective families and students the wonderful campus of Holy Cross. I want to introduce people to the beautiful campus we have, and make them feel welcomed and already part of the Holy Cross community!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
One highlight of my first year had to be Battle of the Bands in front of Kimball dining hall. That was my first ever time playing bass in front of a crowd and my first ever performance in a band outside of organized bands. It was amazing to be with my friends playing music that we loved and having an amazing time on a perfect spring day.

Why did you choose to attend Holy Cross?
The sense of community at Holy Cross is something that was unmatchable, being able to walk around campus and always see a friendly face is something that is so warm and welcoming. As well as the team atmosphere of the swim team, I immediately knew I belonged.

Why did you want to become a tour guide?
At every school, a tour guide brings a great impression to the school and everything it has to offer. I want to be that link between campus and families to a prospective student in being the most helpful and welcoming guide in order to show the beautiful campus and wonderful Holy Cross community!

What is one highlight of your Holy Cross experience thus far?
After COVID, it has been hard to be together with my team, but traveling to Colgate for our championship meet was the first time in a long time that I had been together with all my new  friends and team at once. This was such a fun experience despite the circumstances and I am definitely looking forward to more in the future!
