FRANCESCO LA GIOIA
My name is Francesco, I am 25 and I was born and raised in Apulia (the heel of the Italian boot) and I study at the University of Bologna.
I am at the College of the Holy Cross both to bring Italian language and culture and to share the richness of northern and southern Italian traditions!
In high school I studied English, Spanish and French; then, during my BA in Translation Studies, I switched French to Portuguese. Now that I am about to complete a Master in Teaching Italian as a Second Language, I have realized that I would love to help others learning my own language and I am here to do my best as one of the Italian FLAs!
I love travelling, discovering new places and meeting new people from all over the world. During my BA, I had the great chance to be an exchange student in Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain). There, I discovered my passion to compare all the Romance Languages that I know. It is also very interesting for me to see how English is rich in Latin words and derivations. Another personal strong interest is Second Language Acquisition.
In my spare time, I love to go hiking or walking long distances to make up for my laziness in practicing sports regularly. I like the Italian aperitivo, a concrete example of Italian cuisine conceived as a convivial moment.
My name is Rachele, I am 25 years old and I am from Florence, Italy. I am attending the MA in I/O psychology and I will be the Italian FLA for the 2017/2018 academic year.
I am a very curious person, who always likes to try new things, therefore I have lots of interests. In my free time I like watching tv series, reading, and this year I discovered that I also love acting! One of my greatest passion is travelling, for I think I left part of myself in two opposite places: one in the romantic and elegant streets of Paris, and the other one in the lonely and breathtaking roads of Arizona.
I love pets, I have two cats and one sweet dog. Virtues and defects? I am kind and enthusiastic, but I am also a bit lazy… uhm, and sushi addicted!
