The French and Francophone Studies program offers students many opportunities to engage with the French language and French-speaking cultures, both in and out of the classroom. It is housed in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

Foreign Language Assistants

In addition to classroom learning, students continue to practice French in small practice sessions (practica) led by French Foreign Language Assistants (FLAs). The FLAs reinforce classroom lessons through interactive activities and offer a direct insight into contemporary French and Francophone cultures.

Courses Delve Into Language and Culture

Students sharpen their language and analytical skills in 300-level methodology courses designed to develop lexical flexibility, rhetorical techniques and stylistic proficiency.

Students explore the rich literary, artistic, historical, and intellectual traditions that have shaped French and Francophone cultures in 400-level advanced courses that span several centuries and French-speaking regions.
