Lucas W. Netchert '13

Alumni Outreach and Communications Intern

Lucas is an Environmental Studies and Philosophy double major. He is the first intern for this position within the Environmental Studies Program. It is his goal to help expand and enhance the ENVS Program at Holy Cross. Throughout the year he will be contacting alumni to open lines of communication and build an ENVS network of alumni and friends.

Lucas recently returned from the Center for Marine Resource Management in the Turks and Caicos Islands where he spent a semester studying tropical marine ecology and natural resource management, along with conducting marine research to prevent serious population decline of a valuable species to the local fishing industry.

Katherine M. Fischer '13

Internship Partners Network Intern

Katie is an English Major and Environmental Studies Concentrator. She is also the first intern for this position within the Environmental Studies Program. She is excited to be assisting the Department in its outreach efforts, while making students aware of opportunities for involvement with community initiatives during and after their time on the Hill. Throughout the year, she will be working to strengthen and build upon the College's ties with local Environmentally focused organizations.

This past summer, Katie served as an intern within The Department of Environmental Protection's Drinking Water division. The experience allowed her exposure to various water regulation projects on the state and local levels, and the opportunity to assist officials with retrieving and organizing related information. She also had the opportunity to work directly with the community by attending guest speakers and field visits, and compiling handouts with helpful information for the public.
