Dear Campus Community,

With Spring Break next week and the ongoing uncertainty around the COVID-19 virus, we are writing to remind you to be aware of any travel warnings related to the virus. The situation has been changing rapidly, and anyone planning to travel over the break or during the semester should keep up to date on the ongoing developments via the news and the Centers for Disease Control Travel Advisory website.

As we have seen over the past few days with the onset of cases in northern Italy, the virus continues to emerge in countries beyond China. As more countries see an increased risk, there is the possibility of further travel restrictions for anyone travelling abroad. For example, South Korea is now advising people to avoid all non-essential travel to that country.

Travel restrictions can change without much warning, so please be aware if you are leaving the country. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to assess the viability of any pre-existing travel plans, and especially so for countries already on the CDC watch/alert list, and/or countries with new and/or confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The College will continue to follow CDC and Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines for prevention and management of COVID-19. These guidelines may include monitoring or isolation of people returning from areas most affected by the coronavirus.

At the time of this update, the risk level within the United States remains low. While there have been several confirmed cases imported by travelers, at this time, this virus is NOT currently spreading within the United States. Members of the College’s Emergency Response Team continue to meet regularly to monitor the situation. We remain engaged with global, federal, state, and local health organizations in our continued effort to obtain the most current information on the virus, and to understand and implement the most current recommendations.

Health Services is available for any questions or concerns you might have, particularly if you are planning to travel internationally during the break. You can reach us at 508-793-2276, or by emailing
