Booster Clinic on Campus This Friday

Nov. 30, 2021

What You Need to Know

  • A COVID Booster shot clinic will be held Friday in Hogan

  • The clinic is open to all students, faculty and staff

  • The COVID team is monitoring the news about the new COVID variant, Omicron, and getting a booster shot is one way you can protect yourself and your community

---

A COVID vaccine booster shot clinic open to all students, faculty and staff members will be held this Friday, Dec. 3.

Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available. Anyone 18 and older who received two doses of Moderna or Pfizer more than six months ago, or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than two months ago, is eligible and encouraged to receive a booster.

The booster shot is a safe, effective way to help reduce the risk of illness, hospitalization and death as a result of the COVID-19 virus. As you may know, the WHO has identified a new COVID variant of concern, Omicron. There are still a lot of questions to be answered about this variant, and we are watching closely as information comes in. We know news like this can be a cause for anxiety but we want to reassure our community that the safety measures already in place for COVID still offer a high level of protection. Getting a booster shot is an additional, and vital, protective layer.

WHAT: COVID Vaccine Booster Clinic

WHERE: Hogan Campus Center Ballroom

WHEN: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3

WHO: All booster shot-eligible faculty, staff and students

A sign-up link will be sent in a separate email on Wednesday. Walk-ins will also be accepted.

The booster shot is free, but please bring your health insurance card and COVID vaccine card with you. The clinic is being run by Pelmeds Pharmacy, which has run several vaccine clinics on campus in the past year.

We apologize for the short notice, but the clinic is being held this week in response to strong feedback we received from the campus community that the clinic be held before finals and the study week leading up to finals. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

If you aren’t able to make it on Friday, the City of Worcester is offering free booster shots every Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Main Branch of the Worcester Public Library, 3 Salem Square.
