Dear Students and Parents,
We’re following up today on the email students received Christmas Day from Fr. Boroughs. As you know, Massachusetts has instructed all institutions of higher education to refrain from bringing any students back to campus until Monday, January 18, 2021. We now know more about what that means for our planned schedule.
Our January academic term will continue as planned. In consultation with the Worcester Division of Public Health, we are able to allow the small number of students who planned to be on campus during the January term to move in as planned. Those students should plan to move in on Saturday, Jan. 2. More information is below.
Because of the new state instructions, other students who planned to arrive prior to Jan. 18 now will move in Jan. 18 or later. This includes Resident Advisors, Kimball captains and student-athletes. Specifics about these move-ins will be forthcoming in separate communications later this week.
Move-in for first-year students will remain on Jan. 23-24. Move-in for all other students is still scheduled for Jan. 29-30. More information, including your assigned move-in day, will be coming in communications next week.
STUDENTS WHO PREVIOUSLY TESTED POSITIVE
Students who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 and are fully recovered must provide medical certification of the date of initial symptoms and/or positive test and dates of isolation as well as certification of full recovery. Email email@example.com with your COVID-related medical documentation. In accordance with Massachusetts travel orders, students will have to test upon arrival, but will be removed from further campus testing for 90 days from the date of initial symptoms or positive test, whichever comes first.
Students who do not provide documentation should expect to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival should their initial campus test come back with a positive result.
As you know, our initial provider for at-home testing kits informed us at the last minute they could not fulfill our agreed-upon order. We have been investigating alternatives, and expect to have more information later this week.
INFO FOR STUDENTS ARRIVING JAN. 2
Move-in for students who will be on camps for the January term will be Saturday, Jan. 2. Please plan to arrive and check-in at Hogan Campus Center between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. See this campus map for more details.
You will be asked to take your first COVID-19 test as soon as you arrive. Please note that you will need to quarantine until you have two negative tests. You should anticipate staying in dedicated quarantine space for at least five days after you arrive, and will be permitted to move-in to your formal room assignment once your second negative test result returns.
