September 17, 2020
Dear Holy Cross Students,
Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, the influenza vaccine will be required for all full-time undergraduate and graduate students under 30 years of age and all full and part-time health science students at post-secondary institutions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, influenza vaccine will be especially critical to reduce the overall impact of respiratory illness, protect vulnerable populations and decrease the burden on the health care system.
The immunization requirements apply to all students who live on or come to campus at any time. Students must receive influenza vaccine for the current season by December 31, 2020 (UPDATE: After this email was sent, the flu vaccine requirement was changed to Dec. 1, 2020. See here for more information). The vaccine will now be required annually for all students who will be on campus. Students may have a medical or religious exemption.
Any student planning to access campus during the fall or spring semesters will be required to have the flu vaccination before the end of this calendar year This means that if we are able to welcome a larger number of students to campus in the spring, you will need to have the flu shot by Dec. 31 (UPDATE: After this email was sent, the flu vaccine requirement was changed to Dec. 1, 2020. See here for more information). We strongly urge all students to be vaccinated.
If you have received the vaccine or plan to receive it off campus, please upload the medical documentation into your patient portal at Patient Portal - Appointments & Uploads. Please enter the date of administration of the influenza vaccine under immunizations in your patient portal.
Students deficient in the mandated Massachusetts vaccine requirements after 30 days of the deadline will not be able to have access to campus.
Let’s keep Holy Cross healthy!
