Changes to Campus COVID Restrictions

June 16, 2021

Dear Holy Cross Community,

We are happy to report that vaccination rates among those on campus this summer are high enough for us to relax some of the COVID restrictions currently in place.

These changes are based only on vaccination rates of those who are on campus during the summer, and therefore at the moment they apply only to the summer. We are still waiting for many students, faculty and staff members who are not on campus to report their vaccination status. Students, please upload your COVID-19 vaccination information to the Patient Portal as soon as possible, specific directions are available here

The below changes will take effect immediately, and we expect them to remain until at least Aug. 1. At that point, we will reevaluate our overall vaccination numbers as we get ready for most of our population to return with the fall semester.

As of today:

  • Vaccinated individuals are no longer required to wear a mask indoors or outdoors.

    • Unvaccinated people — and those who haven’t submitted their vaccination status — must continue to wear a mask indoors.

    • Masking is still required by everyone in Health Services, the COVID-19 Testing Center in Hogan, Counseling Center.

  • Physical distancing requirements are lifted for vaccinated individuals.

    • Unvaccinated people should continue to maintain six feet of distance between themselves and others

  • Indoor gatherings are permitted without capacity restriction, and the 50% capacity limit on office spaces is lifted, as are limitations on food and drink

Thank you to those in our community who have taken the important step to get vaccinated. Your efforts are what will allow us to continue with reduced restrictions and allow for a return to a more normal campus experience in the fall and beyond. We appreciate your help.

Sincerely,

The COVID Core Team
