SRCs: Students for Responsible Choices

Students for Responsible Choices is a peer education group whose primary goal is to educate students about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. SRCs are dedicated to providing information that will facilitate informed individual decision making and promote low risk choices relating to the use of substances.

SRCs will also address the College culture by supporting activities that minimize high risk drinking and maximize healthy choices. When necessary, SRCs will refer students with personal alcohol and other drug issues to appropriate sources of assistance and will support individuals who struggle with others’ use/misuse of alcohol. SRCs are advised by the Director of Wellness Programming and their mission supports the College’s philosophy on alcohol and other drug education.

SRC sponsored events include: a required Fall orientation program for first year students, called “Think Before You Drink”,  Alcohol Awareness Week, the Natural Highs Fair, the Great American Smokeout, “Facts of the Week” and bulletin board postings in the Residence Halls, distribution of BAC cards, a Beerless Games Tournament, Mocktails, and the 21st Birthday Card campaign.  For more information about the SRC program, please contact Fran Taylor, Director of Wellness Programming, ftaylor@holycross.edu, ext. 2302 or stop by Hogan 225.
