Conference Calling Instructions

The College of the Holy Cross telephone system offers three party conference calling. The Conference feature adds up to five additional parties to an established call.  The conference parties can be inside or outside the telephone system.  However, one party must be an internal extension number to maintain the conference connection for the duration of the conference.  Both Multi-line and Single-line telephones can establish a conference call.

Feature Instruction

From a Multi-line Telephone:

  1. Call first party/number.
  2. Press Conference key.  The first party is on hold and you receive a dial tone.
  3. Dial the number of the new party.   When the new party answers, you may talk privately.
  4. Press Conference key again to include all parties in the call.
  5. To add more parties to the conference (up to six, including yourself), repeat steps 2-4.

Note:  If you make a mistake while dialing, or you receive a busy signal, press RLS to disconnect.  To return to the call, press the key beside the fast flashing indicator.

From a Single-line Telephone:

The Telecommunications Department loans speakerphones for group participation in conference calls.  To request a speakerphone contact Telecommunications with the request detailing the date, time and location.

Holy Cross also offers corporate teleconferencing through PAETEC Communications. This service allows the participant to dial into a preassigned number, usually an 800 or 888 toll free number and be prompted to enter an access code. Upon the entry of the access code the participants are automatically connected to the call. To schedule a teleconference you will need to contact the Telecommunications Department at X2337 with the following information:

  • The date, start time, call duration, and number of participants including the host
  • Department name and organization to be charged
  • Name of person hosting the call
  • Do you have any international participants which would require international access

If you should need operator assistance anytime during the call press #00.
