'I Love it Here' 2.11 - Nancy Chang's
Nancy Chang prides itself for its desire to provide the best tasting and healthiest Chinese food out there, and also offer dishes from other Asian cultures like Thai, Malaysian, and Polynesian cuisine. Unlike other Chinese restaurants in Worcester, which fry everything and cater to those who prefer generic Chinese takeout, Nancy Chang has a fresh and unique taste to it. Nothing has that "I've been sitting under heating lamps for hours on end," taste or texture to it, but rather a "we whipped this up just for you" taste.
Nancy Chang does not have the chintzy Chinese restaurant dÈcor that so many others tend to pick up. It's located in an old brick building, a factory at one point I'm assuming, and inside is not only a giant fish tank but also very elegant and classy decorations. This is appropriate, however, because of Nancy Chang' s goal to be a cut above the rest when it comes to food. If the restaurant looked tacky and greasy, then it would clash horribly with the food I was eating. After all, dining out is an experience for all five senses, not just taste.
Customary to other Chinese restaurants, Nancy Chang's entrees are buffet-style for the entire table. Large platters hold lots and lots of food, and my mom and I were able to pick and choose from our dishes. This makes ordering easy, since we were both able to enjoy everything, and not feel overwhelmed by the courses. They also had plenty of appetizers that were small enough for one or two to enjoy.
One of my favorite foods of all time is Pad Thai. Those who are nodding their heads in agreement, salivating at the thought, rejoice! This dish is on the menu, and perhaps the best thing we had that day. The sauce wasn't too overwhelming, and there was plenty of nuts and shrimp, and also filling enough to work as a meal in and of itself.
Nancy Chang can be difficult to get to, since it’s located on Chandler St, but it’s worth it. They have some of the best Chinese food in Worcester, and the experience is worth it. There are times when you want are more mainstream Chinese restaurant, greasy and generic, but then there are times when you want something a little above the bar, and for that go to Nancy Chang’s.
