'I Love it Here' 2.09 - Take Out Options

I decided to give you a guide to help you with the fine art of ordering in. Keep in mind that I am not counting any restaurants that are part of the whole "Meals on Wheels" program of Worcester. Meals on Wheels is a program some restaurants have in the Worcester area, like Nancy Chang and Tortilla Sam's, where you can order out and they deliver it to you. Usually, these restaurants do not deliver, so this is a great treat. These restaurants are great places, as I have mentioned in columns in the past, but delivery takes longer and is a little more expensive, so I have excluded them.

Strongly Recommend: DP Dough. I know I've mentioned this place in many columns in the past. The entire menu is devoted to calzones, and the variety of calzones they offer is incredible. Their names are also all clever, playing with the word "zone." DP Dough aficionados know the difference between a Loading Zone and a Parking Zone, and often see a Cheeze as downright boring. Keep in mind, however, that there is a two calzone minimum for delivering to HC, but I feel that anyone can fake friendship for one evening if they're that desperate for a calzone. Many menus have coupons on them for free soda or breadsticks, an added bonus.

Strongly Recommend: Xing Xing. I'll admit that most Chinese take-out restaurants taste like heating lamps, and that many are also extremely "Americanized," but sometimes you want that. I still suggest a trip to Nancy Chang over Xing Xing, but there are those days when all you want is a deep-fried egg roll and a vat of General Tso's Chicken. I particularly like the speedy delivery, reasonable prices, pages of specials, and the large variety of food they offer. What's also good is that there seems to always be a stash of Xing Xing's menus right inside the door of all the hill dorms.

Good in a Tight Squeeze: Fresh Way Pizza. All pizza delivery services in Worcester are not equal. I find this place to be the best of them all, and I also like how they have free delivery from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am seven days a week. I'm a fan of the wide variety of food here, especially the salads, subs, and pastas. They also have lots of toppings for their pizzas, including some you don't see everywhere like sweet and sour chicken. I call this "Good in a Tight Squeeze" because I feel DP Dough is the better deal, and sometimes the appetizers come a little soggy, but it is still good pizza.

Avoid like the Plague: Domino's. Basically, why settle for a sub par meal when you have so many other, and much better, options in Worcester? The pizza is horrible, it takes forever, they have no toppings, and I just do not like this place. Freshmen may order from here because they don't know any better, but I must implore them to stop.
