'I Love it Here' 2.08 - 111 Chophouse
For a touch of class and to have some quality meat, I recently went to 111 Chophouse, located on Shrewsbury Street. This is the sister restaurant of The Sole Proprietor. Inside, a lot of 111 reminded me of Sole Proprietor, with the rich colors and a high-class feel. Perhaps my favorite part of the room we sat in was the floor-to-ceiling wine rack built into the wall. It added a cool texture to the room, and also heightened the atmosphere of the restaurant. It also had a more open feel than Sole, which was nice. Not quite as cramped.
For the amount of wine of the menu, there are not many different kinds of food available. I went to their menu online and counted about 265 different kinds of wine, including half bottles, but perhaps two dozen entrees, very few of which were suited for vegetarians or those who don't eat red meat. I figured this coming into the restaurant, having heard that it specialized in fantastic meat, but I also figured that there would be a pasta and vegetable dish on the menu. Because I do eat all kinds of meat, this was not a problem for me, but those who have a food preference out there should take note.
For those who live for meat, rejoice: this is some of the best meat I've ever had in Worcester. I’ve had both a chicken and a steak dish, and I have to admit, they do a better job on the red meat. The chicken was good, but I also felt they weren't sure what to serve with it. My meal came with Gorgonzola cheese, sweet potatoes, and mango chutney. They were good separately, but I'm not sure the combination of the three worked extremely well. They have lots of seafood dishes on the menu, all of which looked incredible, and a few poultry dishes.
Now onto the red meat, the part we've all been waiting for. In a word: incredible. Seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, presented perfectly. This is proof of two things: it's perfect, and I need to find more adverbs to describe their presentation. There are a variety of cuts, and they are all superb. I must admit that I am not a super huge fan of beef, but I was extremely impressed by the quality of meat.
111 Chophouse is a great place to bring your family or go on a nice date, especially since a nice cut of meat can be a tad expensive. The atmosphere is great, as is the food, though I'm still more of a fan of The Sole Proprietor. This is merely preference, since I'm a seafood girl. If you shirk at shrimp and breathe for beef, however, I highly recommend checking this place out.
