'I Love it Here' 2.05 - O'Connor's

O'Connor's was, as the sign out front says, "dreamed up 1979..... established 1989," and the unique wit and Irish charm don't stop at the door. Almost every square inch of wall space is covered in either sayings, pictures, plaques, trophies, advertisements, and so on. While we were waiting for a table to open up, I found myself trying to take in as much as possible and look at everything on the walls, but this is impossible. The decor of the restaurant is Irish, and not only does it take pride in it, it grabs the visual aesthetic of Ireland by the horns and doesn't let go.

Everyone who works at O'Connor's is very outgoing and friendly. It's like we're company in their home, and they're so excited to see us and spend an evening with us. I have been to many restaurants over the years, both out here and elsewhere, and never have I enjoyed the service as much as I have at O'Connor's. Keep in mind, however, that it is not open on Sundays (except for Mother's Day) so you should plan accordingly.

The menu is very extensive, having lots of traditional Irish dishes but also a fair share of other types of dishes. The portions are incredibly generous, and the food is incredible. I had a pecan-encrusted chicken with an apple-pear chutney, and I dream about it still on particularly dismal Kimball nights. It was extremely tasty in a unique way and cooked to perfection. Pair that with the appetizer of butternut squash soup, and you have a very happy camper. Then came the triumphant end of the meal: dessert. The three of us shared two desserts, a bread pudding and a Bailey's Irish Cream pie. I cannot pick favorites out of this duo, so I suggest you get both and indulge.

O'Connor's is great for a date, a night out with friends, or just about any reason you would have to eat out. I hope to go back again soon, so I can try more things on the menu. The prices are very reasonable, and the servings are filling. Since O'Connor's is such a unique dining out experience, I feel that you need to eat here when you get the chance, and enjoy it as much as I did. I don't think I've had as much fun eating out as I did that night.
