'I Love it Here' 2.01 - Vinny T's
Before I started this column, I made up one rule: no restaurant chains. However, I feel I can review Vinny T’s for a few reasons. Vinny T's was founded only 11 years ago, there are only nine of them in the entire country, and seven of them are in the Boston-area. So, it's just beginning to branch out and become a chain. The second is that Vinny T's is perhaps the nicest chain out there and can stand on its own apart from its counterparts.
It's a bit of a drive to get there, since it's actually right over the Shrewsbury border, but it's still not bad. A cab ride will hurt your wallet just a little, so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind when you are planning on going. I went on a Saturday night, and it was very crowded. Our somewhat large party had to break up into two, mitosis-style, as they could not accommodate parties larger than six at that hour. It is also a good idea to call ahead and make a reservation, because on weekend nights they get very busy from about 6 p.m. — 8 p.m.
Once we sat down and ordered, I remembered why this place is better than the average chain: the food. The variety on the menu lies in the pasta-based dishes and nothing else. Pretty much any pasta I could think of was on this menu. The portions, like everything here, are heaping. When they brought me my entree, I think I can safely say that it came in a vat. You can definitely make two meals out of any entree you order here.
